Does that cart have two wheels?? Maybe the second wheel just isn't visible in the picture, but I surely can't see a second wheel?

If it doesn't protect 1.5's, what does it possibly do to help? I always thought it was hunting season and not antler season. ??? Yeah, it's a bit amusing ain't it?? They are constantly throwing these theories at us about what's best for the herd and in the end it all comes down to what could be done to get a buck to have bigger antlers on it's head so it would make it easier for them to gun it down! A blind man could see what their garbage is all about. Wow really? Is that what you take out of all these conversations? Please! Like a good many of you haven't actually admitted that antlers are the #1 motivating factor behind your hunting?? It's ALL about antlers to you boys and the more you guys keep posting this stuff the more clear it gets for all of us others to see! Maybe if you fellas could at least try to keep the word "antler" out of some of your conversations here, we might start taking you more seriously. Some even go as far as giving us their resumes on how many big bucks they've slayed over the years and then start threads like this! It's down right funny, if you ask me!

Why? The perp was not hunting or participating in any legal activity. Its another crime. Anti's will associate it with hunters in general. I would agree. We don't know for sure whether this guy had a hunting license or not, but if he did, people could say a "hunter" shot a game warden and whether the guy was doing something illegal at the time or not probably wouldn't make much difference. Not like guys WITH hunting licenses don't get busted every year for all sorts of stunts!

If I had a buck tag in my pocket he most certainly would get shot. If anything with spike horns of 3 inches or more comes along it gets shot. I have a limited amount of time I will be hunting any given season, so I don't go hunting to wave at deer with my handkerchief! I can go out and do that any other time of the year. During hunting season I go out to shoot them if the opportunity presents itself.
-
From my experience I would say that the majority of hunters out there would do what was done to you and what you now would do to others. Don't make it right, though. If I am not capable of finding a deer and then killing it all by myself then I will live without one. I surely won't go claiming someone elses and then be telling everyone that it was me who bagged it.

Hard enough to find and keep private land to hunt in ones own area. This is one major cause of hunter number decline. If people have to go even further to hunt it will only make more people hang up their weapons for good.

Hmmmm, you might be on to something here. I actually thought I saw Ted Nugent peeking out of one the kitchen cupboards with bow in hand while she was feeding that deer!

Was it a wet spring this year?? I don't even remember for sure, but I do know that not too many weekends if any were washed out because of rain the entire spring and summer this year where I live, so I don't think it was any more wet than most years. I tell you, it won't be long before some Texas biologist comes up with a theory showing a direct link between the political party who has the majority in congress to antler growth. The study probably won't favor democratic control either knowing how Texans think!! LOL
-
What's that all about? That's the first I ever heard of weather having anything to do with antler growth! ??? I hope this biologist wasn't hired from somewhere in Texas where they tend to come up with ridiculous deer biology theories?? Maybe a sunny Spring seasons stunt growth, while rainy Springs make those antlers blossom like roses??

You don't need AR's to stimulate anyone into shooting more doe where it would be needed. All you would need to do is issue more doe permits and it would get done. Granted there are fewer and fewer hunters out there to get the job done, but I don't see how implementing AR's would bring any more hunters in to the sport than we already have. Just WON'T happen.

Glad that I'm not the only one with dirt on my mind!

Actually the video was a bit of a disappointment. Knowing that Fasteddie was the one posting this video I was honestly thinking that the reasonably attractive woman would be whipping out one of her boobs to breastfeed the deer!
-
LOL! Your not kidding! Just found a hunting picture of them in the early 1900's. FastEddie is on the far left, Doc is on the far right. They were about 130 years young at the time!

And that is why I have always enjoyed reading your posts, Culver! You are one of the few who tells it straight and like it is. I feel way too many people try to sugarcoat so many things about hunting. Hunting to many IS a very selfish sport and I for one won't pretend that it isn't.
-
First off, Wildcat surely did the right and sportsmanlike thing here. However, I would bet that the vast majority of hunters out there would have done exactly what Culver had happen to him, most especially on a buck that size. Lots of guys out there talk a good story when it comes to sportsmanship and ethics, but few in my experience really show it when push comes to shove. I know some hunters would swear up and down that this isn't the case, but it sure has been in my experience.

Hunting is like other aspects of life---

Man, that is good!!! Is it only me or does that summersaulting fool remind anyone else of Ted Nugent? -
Hey, it's the first meat I put in the freezer this year, so I will take it any way I can get it. Would wrestle them to the ground if I had nothing else available to me!
-
No, that's the one I used to lasso him first in cowboy style. Once he was tied down to the tree good and tight I started flinging arrows at him. Had six arrows in the quiver and luckily I nailed him with the last one!!

Don't usually post pictures of anything I am lucky enough to kill, but just thought I'd add this as a postscript to my original post. Got this deer Sunday morning. Bowhunted only 4 days this fall and only practiced with the old bow for a total of 30 minutes after pulling it out of the closet and dusting it off after it lived there untouched for at least 5 or 6 years! Who says one needs the latest and greatest to make a kill?? Couldn't be happier to have bagged a deer again with it after all these years!

Wow, the thread is getting more interesting by the minute. This site has more drama than a day time soap opera.

I have a friend who is a urologist and he just looked at the video. He thinks you might be having a little trouble with your flow. He wants you to make an appointment.
-
No, I just think they would add to the drama if I did get to hear them playing.

I would agree with just about all the points you made. I would say, however, that the trophy craze is surely not something the city folks created. Most of the TV trophy hunting personalities are far from being city boys! Lots of locals are as trophy crazed as anyone else, plus they generally have more time to hunt for them since they live closer to the woods. Many city folks are happy with anything they might get with their more limited hunting time, although there are surely some trophy crazed among them also. These days you have locals setting up cameras in the woods just like anyone else and a good many of them will be pissed off when their trophy buck is shot by the guy down the road just like some city folks would. That is the only thing I want to add here.

Does anyone here play the violin? I would love to reread that post with some somber violin music playing in the background. ;D
