    dead buck

I saw a dead six inch buck on the 17 also in the eastbound lane on sunday in the orange county area. Probably the same buck.
  2. We can't see the bears head, but I believe he has got to be pushing 300-350 pounds. Thats the biggest bear I have seen on my hunting property. His belly is about to start dragging on the floor.
  3. The date is incorrect on the bear pic. It was taken this week some time. I think that owl pic is real nice. What you think
  4. I also believe he retired. I have hunted in the same camp as Ron in North Carolina. 3 or 4 years ago was the last time I had seen him. I believe he had gotten sick and went home that time.
  5. The first time ever using Rods Taxidermy was 2 seasons ago. He has done the right thing by me and my friends. So far he has gotten 6 mounts from us in the two seasons. I was using my friend who is a taxidermist before this. Not because of price but because of friendship, but my other mounts started cracking due to him tanning himself. I also got another eight done by Ron Kulman in Hempstead long island about 12 years ago and his mount is still perfect.
  6. I was up there a month ago for some sledding. Saw alot of deer while snowmobiling.
  7. Yes, Down the street from John. This past year I shot a big heavy bodied deer but he was only a five point at the end. He was all broken up. Weight 195 pounds live weight and had a heavy rack. Just not many points. I saw the biggest buck ever this past season during bow season at about 60 yards, already had used my buck tag and it was too far to even take a shot. It still had me shaking. Couldnt believe it.
  8. I shot both animals in the beginning of the bow season of 2009. He didnt have many mounts in front of me. I believe I was number 26 for the season. He told me it was a nine to ten month turnaround, but I believe i got it in seven months.
  9. Antlers. I use Rod's taxidermy also. He did my last buck and bear. Great job and a very fair price.
  10. That cow would of put alot of meat in the freezer. What are the legalities on shooting a lost cow?
  11. But I bet there will be a DEC fee to hunt with the crossbow which will bring in that extra money. Just like bow muzzle gun and dmps
  12. Never douted any of that, there is lots of proof of the big bucks in central, western and northern NY. How many times have we heard of all the big bucks shot in the AR zones before AR. Almost never. The big bucks I'm talking about are just 100 inch bucks, big for these zones. We are starting to see them though after ARs were in place. So in my eyes its working. There are alot more small and rack size bucks around when before spikes and four pointers were the only racks you would see and they were shot cause thats all you could expect to see.
  13. I have shot them and have posted pictures. Trophies? All I can say is that they were older and bigger than any other buck I had taken before ARs. Where are your pictures of ANY deer Steve863?
  14. I have said it in the past that in sullivan county the area I have hunted for a about 20 years the change has been huge. Knowing how the area was before ARs and seeing how it is today is the difference, night and day. The meat processors and the Taxidermist have seen the drastic change in deer in the last few years. I have seen the difference and have been fortunate enough to shoot a couple of decent bucks in the last few years when before I never saw a decent rack. ARs arent the answer for shooting mature trophy class animal, But in sullivan county ARs have gotten us that much closer in age. 1-2 extra years on a buck has brought alot of excitement in the woods the last few seasons, not only because I have had the opportunity to harvest them but also having the opportunity in seeing different deer behavior that I thought was only seen on TV. Forcing it on everyone in our area was the only was we were ever going to see a change and I am glad they did.
  15. We keep it at 67 when we stay at the house day and night. We drop it to 50 when we are not there. I'm going to install a thermostat that will let me raise and lower the heat to whatever temp I want before I get there. Never have to walk into a cold house.
  16. They both look great! Love the way they look. I'm sure you guys really did enjoy putting it all together yourselves. I'm sure it takes time to finish something like that but I could just imagine putting one together and all the thoughts and memories that run through your head while building it. Exciting. Good luck and enjoy
