  1. Yeah, that sucks! That's one of the things I'll be looking into, and reading reviews, before I buy my next target.
  2. Shall we do a head count, so we can see who is still here??
  3. The deer didn't touch the tops either! I'm surrounded by corn, soybeans, and apple orchards, so maybe they're just spoiled...
  4. I've tried planting purple top turnips, groundhog radishes, dwarf essex rape, and other brassicas for 3 years straight. They grew great, but went untouched! Well, I take that back, I certainly enjoyed a turnip and radish everyday for a snack! Hey, someone had to eat them!
  5. Some of my fondest memories of hunting as a kid was pheasant hunting with my Dad! I haven't seen or heard of a wild pheasant in my entire area for the past 25+ years! Very sad... I hope the turkey population doesn't meet the same demise...
  6. Was there much to the Sportsmans Center? I would like to go this afternoon. My kids are working there and I have to pick my daughter up early. Thought I might take a peek at the Sportsmans Center. Won't have time to check out much else...
  7. Or if you really want to go this year, find a couple other hunters to go with you. It would make it more fun and a hell of a lot easier too! It could be as much of a scouting trip as hunting and you would have a better idea for next year too
  8. Now that's a spreader!! I only have one of those hand-crank-over-the-shoulder-bag-spreaders!
  9. Very nice! I made a similar target stand, but it just didn't have wheels. Like yours better!
  10. LMAO!!! I just wash it off with water, take a few test shots to make sure all is well, install new blades, and it'll be good to go!
  11. It's absolutely possible. Just have to train them not to venture off your property AND to watch for traffic when crossing roads!
  12. Be careful... you might get accused of "baiting" with that water tub!
  13. It's the New York Outdoor News paper. The bear hunting article is on the front page.
  14. Typical shedding. All will look normal come hunting season...
  15. BTW, how did you plant your sunflowers? I heard of a lot of guys just using regular sunflower seeds from birdseed, broadcasting, and really not doing anything much as far as fertilizer. I have a spot in mind where I'd like to have a nice plot of sunflowers. Thinking the turkeys might appreciate the fallen seeds too!
  16. Nice buffet!! Where did you get your winter peas? I planted 4010 winter peas (similar to Austrian Winter Peas) 2 years ago and the deer ate them right up! Still remember seeing the deer pick their heads up and having vines of winter pea hanging over both sides of their mouth! Been in the back of my mind to plant them again, but the damn shipping cost me a lot more than the seeds did! Would like to find a local distributer. Probably not gonna do it this year, as we're getting down to the wire for planting winter peas.
  17. Come on Tiff, I think the feeder is running low! Climb up there and check!!
  18. That event looks interesting. I would like to hear what they have to say. I think I'm gonna plan on attending, providing the weather is decent. Make sure you bump a reminder!
  19. One of those deer carts might be helpful, if you can get your hands on one.? Those stinkin' bear don't come with good dragging "handles" or slide very well for that matter...
  20. Sounds like you certainly get your moneys worth!! Lotsa' meat for the freezer too!!
  21. Are you going alone? Have you thought about how you would get a bear out of there??
  22. +1 I fell 20' 4 years ago and still suffer everyday! Still recovering from surgery #3 (last Dec.). I always wore a harness while hunting. But, one day, I made an unexpected trip to camp to check cams before season and thought while I was there, I'd run out and check stands too, so I could check that off my list. Didn't end well.................
  23. I grew up in Newark and still have family there. Where is TSC in Newark? Rt. 31? I'm gonna have to swing by and check out Herb's when it opens!!
