Just left the woods. Forgot my phone in the truck this morning, so I had no idea what time it was and was paranoid I would miss an important text or call. I saw a lone spike wander through shortly after daylight. REAL discouraging, considering how much further I could see with snow on the ground! Didn't see a single track in the snow on my way in this morning or when I left. They sure as hell aren't moving around me!! I have a couple things to do today, but plan to be back in the stand by 1:00pm.

FYI, I was enlightened. The bucks are laying low in woodchuck holes right now. But, "When the does are ripe, the bucks will come". I feel so much less pressure now wondering WTF is going on! Thank you Mr. Jack Daniels!!!

Interesting how different rut activity is from area to area. I checked 5 cams today that have been out for 6 days. A few does and fawns together, but the only buck was a spike, just pounding acorns! My cams were hot in these same areas with frequent shooter buck pics. It's been DAF around here since ~Oct 10th. No bucks out in the fields or hit along the road like many are reporting in their areas. Last fall, I didn't see bucks showing any interest in does until opening day of gun season. Checked a couple cams on my way in. Just a lone doe passed by in the last few days. Seems like both local properties I hunt have dried up in the past month! Cam activity was great from Sept. 1 - Oct. 10. The first 10 days of season looked very promising, but then took a nose dive! With so few deer around, I won't even consider shooting a doe.
