  1. What a great service you provide Tom! You might have mentioned it before, but is there a benefit to using such small dogs? I would think a dog with longer legs would be able to get around the woods better? If your selection is based solely on the cuteness factor, then I completely understand your choice!
  2. Congrats Culver!! Getting it done with your Dad's recurve too! Makes it even more special!
  3. Confirmed this is the one that I passed up at 15 yards this morning. Can't miss the spot below his eye. I've been getting pics of him pretty regularly, but wasn't sure if I was going to give him a pass.
  4. Pulled cam cards on my way in this morning and just checked. Looks like the most activity this week has been between 11am-1pm here in the oaks. All bucks too. Acorns all over! I felt like I was in the skittles commercial this mornig, except had acorns raining all around me! Damn, didn't bring any snacks with me today to hold me over. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  5. Passed on a nice 8pt at 15 yards (~16" wide and decent height). I have a few trail cam pics of him, but wasn't sure if I could pass on him or not. Guess I know now. I am wet and chilled to the bone already! Might have to break out the coffee a little early! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  6. Stopped raining, but the wind is ripping! Pretty soaked from the dripping rain and wet brush from my walk in. The wind has acorns falling like crazy! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  7. You're the man!! Some people just don't get that others enjoy the experience and time spent in the woods and don't want their season to end so soon. I have 32 days to use by the end of muzzleloader season. We wait all year long for this 6 week window to bow hunt. If I get a chance at a bigger buck than I've ever gotten, I would shoot it this early. Other than that, forget it. If I shoot a lesser buck later than I passed up, that's fine with me. The experience and memories mean more to me than a mediocre buck. If I want meat, I'll shoot a doe... no biggie. Good luck!
  8. In the market for a compact SD card reader for android. Which one do you use and would you recommend? The old one that I had would occasionally screw up my card and I would lose pics. I ordered one off of Amazon last fall, but it's just too big to carry around with me while checking trailcams.
  9. Hard to believed the guy lived! Not sure I would have wanted to...
  10. I've made messing with them my hobby! I used to get pissed off and annoyed when they called, but now I don't mind so much! Always looking for fresh material to put into the rotation!!!
  11. I was in the market for a new muzzleloader this past spring. After a lot of reading, I decided to get the CVA Optima V2. There is a wealth of info on this forum https://www.modernmuzzleloader.com/#muzzleloading-firearms-and-optics.52 . Everyone was raving about the Blackhorn 209 with the BH 209 breechplug, so I went with that. I'm shooting 290gr Barnes Expander Spit-Fire T-EZ. I topped it off with a Nikon Prostaff P3 with BDC reticle. I am thrilled with the accuracy!
  12. Congrats! You guys had great success in Maine!
  13. You can't always. Aerial photo's are a tool, but you really need to get in there to do some scouting to find out what's it's like! If it's too thick to bow hunt, check out along the edge.
  14. The 10pt on looks scrawny compared to the 8pt in the 2nd pic. Had a few pics of bachelor groups still together and also bucks harassing does already!
  15. Great looking bucks and toms! Good God those toms have some dandy beards!
  16. Just loaded up my fanny pack. That reminded me to put my license in the holder! Got the deer cart packed. I need to pick up some spare hardware for the deer cart, just to have on hand. Those damn clips tend fall out at the most inconvenient times! Getting bolts with wing nuts this time!
  17. I heard about a coyote attacking a 5 year old girl in her front yard outside Chicago. Crazy!
