Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth, before I head into the woods for hikes with my dog I always spread this stuff on their coat. from what I have read it breaks up their exoskeleton creating tiny cuts that cause them to die. also give my dogs a teaspoon in their food if I suspect worms. works the same way. http://www.amazon.com/Rated-Food-Grade-Diatomaceous-Earth/dp/B00025H2PO/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top?ie=UTF8

I don't wear a hat to my stand and I wear a thing moisture wicking shirt. your only cold for a few minutes. I put on my thermal pants and poly pro pants over that and top it off with some loose sweatpants and a pair of thin camo overalls at the car. (overalls help keep the wind from getting up my backside). my legs don't get to sweaty after the walk and since everything is moisture wicking if it does its dry fast enough for me not to be to cold. after I get in my stand I get dressed while strapped to the tree. I always change into a fresh moisture wicking base layer shirt. then put my poly top on over my thermal shirt then put on a camo poly shirt with a fleece over that and add an insulated parka over that depending. a trick I found works great is to put your rain gear on then put a layer over that. cuts the wind down completely and holds all your heat in.

Excalibur Axiom with Schwacker broadheads 100 grain that shoot great. but me being me I ordered some 100 grain parker crosspro's cause I like the reviews. if they fly field point like the schwacker I will keep one in my quiver as a backup.

plan on heading out that way in a few weeks to try my luck. saw some good sign on one spot I checked out. good luck getting something nice this year

I honstly dont clock watch. Grey to grey is what i should have said. I was out there to take does anyway like they want. If a dec officer happened by he would have to be pretty screwed up to hit me with an offence for that. Besides just tryin to make the point that had i sat longer i woulda shot my first bear with a good half hour of shootin time left.

Hunted up in 3M and didn't see a single doe all day. moved from a bedding area to a spot where they were eating last year and sat for the night and STILL didn't see anything. So at about 6:00pm I decide with an hour hike out and a two hour drive ahead of me Im packing it in. So i set my bow down and the MINUTE a start to climb down a nice sized bear come strolling to my thirty yard line and stops when she hears me cuss looks at me and then runs down to a hill where i have a 40 yard shot and stops and looks at me. I am never leaving stand again till the sun has dropped below the horizon. been out every weekend even in the rain and havnt had any luck. but it all in all it was still a nice sit. First time seeing a bear from stand was cool.

I shot thunderheads and muzzy and toxic out of my xbow and none where field point accurate. Found schwacker and i was sold. Muzzy were next in line with a few clicks out to 40. Oddly enough the others shoot ok out of my compound so not a waste

I myself and left eye dominant, started shooting three years ago. the bow shop set me up with a right hand recurve cause I said I was a righty. after reading a few books I switched to a lefty bow. improved my shot a lot, mind you I was self taught. after two seasons shooting recurve hunting my wife wanted to get into hunting. got her a diamond infinite edge. she is a righty. after playing with her edge I got myself one. I practice with it at fifty yards with no problem. never had an issue with it. people say the back wall is squishy. I don't feel it. course im just getting used to it and if I got a high end bow I might notice it then. but honestly after shooting recurves for the past few years I have a very solid anchor plus at got it pumped up to like 63 pounds with a 29 dl. on the higher range of the bow I think the back wall is more stable. 300 for the bow. 100 for a smackdown arrow rest cause I didn't like the capture rest that came with it and 50 bucks for a good sight. all together 450 bucks. I was looking at used bows but I don't trust not getting a dryfired bow.

thanks a lot, appreciate the help. gonna give it a look over when I get home and try to fill out our long weekend. friend also mentioned the corning museum of glass, may check that out depending on how far it is. as far as rattlesnakes go im fine with those cause you can hear em. had a snake fall out of a tree me and a buddy was hunting under and it scared the crap out of us.

Got up here for the weekend but had family in tow so I didn't get to do to much scouting. Locals are very nice and man I never saw so many posted signs, even on parts of the place that according to my map belong to the park. ran into the ranger and I gotta say EVERY park ranger I have met thus far have been great and very helpful, my rotty even liked im which freaked me out cause she can be moody. saw a spot that was full of acorns, I mean all over the place. didn't see many old rubs in the place so its a toss up for big bucks but im a meat hunter so I figure there are prolly a lot of doe runnin around this place, and bear, saw some small bear scat and a print in mud that was maybe 5 or 6 inches not far from the scat in a depression that I can only assume was where to bear takes naps. wish I took a pic of it. gonna head back up and check it out without the kids and wife in tow if she lets me, if you don't mind a tag along let me know.

So the family and I are taking our little mini camper out for the first time and a friend who works for the state put me unto a place called Hickory Hill Family Camp in Steuben, taking a long weekend in two weeks and heading out with the wife and kids. wondering if there were any decent hunting spots in the area I should check out, would love a few PMs as I wont have much time to scout and want to maximize the few hours I can convince the wife to hike through some rough stuff with the kids. also I was looking for an outdoor archery 3d spot we could go shooting at but cant seem to find any using google. any help would be appreciated. oh and fishing, gotta wet some lines out there. was thinking of hitting keuka lake for that though.

I am all for teaching kids the concept of acceptance of peoples difference. I am not ok with teaching non traditional relationships to kids. if a kid goes to sunday school and learns its against their religion, then they go to school and learn that its perfectly ok and happens all the time. I am not ok with that. social engineering. all I it will do is further confuse people. and im sorry I don't buy the "they knew since they were young" line. plenty of people get confused about their sexuality in life, ive know females who dabble on both sides in high school and then I see them now they are happily married with kids. acceptance is all schools should teach, I would like to have grandkids and would rather not have schools social engineering my boys to screw me out of taking my grandkids hunting

Could never get away with that in the city. Lived in colorado and i carried alot after i broke outa this ny state of mind. Came back and just got used to it. When my boys get old enough i will prolly go through the process to teach them how to shoot and respect firearms. But even then i prolly still wont carry all the time

I have yet to find anything that makes me worry in the woods more than my own imagination. Always wondered if I should when camping with the wife and kids but ultimately I think I feel safer around the kids with my rotty and lab than I do with a firearm
