  1. It was a gentleman from Fredonia. I do not remember his name, he had a small chocolate lab mix...I would guess. Really great guys, his son and young grandson also joined us. They worked hard to try to make it happen, but we did not have success. The grandson was a real trooper, that little guy tromped through the woods for hours without a single complaint and had more energy than me!
  2. After 4 hours with deer search last night we called it off on the buck yesterday. Very disappointing, hopefully he somehow makes it. Back at it this morning though, jjust shot a doe at 5 yards. I can see the blood trail from the Magnus from the tree and she dropped in 30 yards. Back straps on the grill for the Bills game! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Meeting deer search at 7:30. Fingers crossed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Im heading in now to carefully expand the search. If no luck my boys and I will search the entire area in the morning. 41 years of bowhunting and this has only happened to me once before. I found that one the next days so Im trying to remain hopeful. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Im in Chautauqua county. I slowly crawled looking for any sign. About 80 yards of this. Im waiting until morning. Called deer search, we’ll see. My dog is a Weimaraner, great trackers, just not this one! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I gut shot a beauty of a buck at 8:30. I am literally sick over it. Going to give it one more hour then see what I can find. No blood on the ground at the shot so this isnt going to be easy. He was slightly quartering to and spun at the release. Rookie mistake. Arrow looks nasty. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I agree. The heavier the socks or wearing multiple pairs, the colder my feet get.
  8. I have found wearing light socks and good boots works best for me. Muck Arctic Pro is what I'm wearing when it turns really cold.
  9. Can't wait to see the pics! Let me correct myself, I hope to SEE one (or two) Saturday morning. No 50 yard shots for me either.
  10. I'm really hoping to have one down Saturday morning. forecast in my area says 37, clear and 5mph ESE wind
  11. I wonder how many do, illegal or not.
  12. We are using Big Game ladder stands. I like them a lot, they are extra wide with nylon mesh seats and the backrest is about 6" from the tree trunk which really adds to the comfort. Not as comfortable as the climber, but way easier.
  13. Clearly a LOT of people feel that way! For me the seat is one of the things I love about the large Summits though.
  14. To save a 1.5 pounds I don't know why anyone would ever give up the comfort of a Summit seat. I'm not sure what is difficult about packing it, I have never had any issue at all.
  15. No I didn't. A buddy told me his brother used one and it sounded like a shopping cart full of empty cans rolling through the woods.
  16. OK, well you DO have to move your eye to look at different things of course, but looking through a peep at a pin and a target. No, it's like having normal vision/focus abilities - if that makes sense??. Now, the peep is not in perfectly clear focus, being so close to my eye, but it is clear enough that I can accurately center the sight housing in it without issue. I don't know how it works, but as I am typing this I am focused on my screen, I look up to my dry erase board 8 ft away and it is in focus, look out the window and trees 30 yards away and cars 50 yards away are clear as can be. They are perfect for me...YMMV. I could not shoot a bow with bifocal glasses accurately. They forced me to alter my head position too much and I had to choose what was in or out of focus, REALLY out of focus. No bueno. When I discovered that these magical contact lenses existed I jumped right on them and will never go back to glasses for every day use. If I am working on a vehicle or doing something more intricate, I will wear glasses as they are much clearer at extremely close distances. I think remember having to make a focus adjustment on my rifle scopes after getting them. No big deal though.
  17. I have also shot multiple deer with the same arrow. I'm no physicist, but I feel like there is much less force on the shaft with a clean pass through than slamming into a target over and over again. To the OP... Ladder stands, climber and a pop-up blind when I'm not feeling like being cold and wet. There is also the option of a very nice shooting shack built by a neighbor who hunted the property before we leased it, so that's always an option.
  18. No, only dominant eye open when shooting. The contacts I wear are multi focal. I can focus for reading or distance with each eye.
  19. That is so cool!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I have no idea how they work, but I am able to shift my focus from the pin to the target without issue. They are not perfect though, they are not as good as readers and not as good as distance lenses, but they are a great compromise. Check them out, you'll be happy I'm sure. After we knew they worked for me, the Dr actually suggested that I order them online for half of what she would sell them to me for. I get a year supply for like $140 from Lens.com Good luck!
