  1. Yep. He said as much. I didnt want to post this because i am not 100% convinced its true, but the neighbor to the north sent me this pic. He said its zoomed in from a pic his wife took with her phone in their yard. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Exactly. I will be friendly to him, but I will not be bullied. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Wolc.. I agree to a point. This guy approached me with aggression and a gun. So Im going to post the hell out of it now. He said he even invited the local Amish to hunt it last year so the problems will compound if I dont make it clear that we are serious. As far as he goes i do agree, my son just called me and suggested we take a case of beer down tomorrow and try to be friendly with him. Lets face it, he lives there, we do not. I will reinforce respecting lines, and will call the Sheriff to get something on record, but im not battling this guy. We have 94 acres of amazing oak woods. Deer are everywhere, one of the nice neighbors showed me a pic if a 22 pt non typical he shot last year on our hill. It is well worth it to get along. But i wont be bullied either. 5. We were hoping it would be long term. All of the other neighbors seem great. When I asked them about this guy they all said they didnt really know him. I am going to call the Sheriff and dec tomorrow when we are down there just to get something on record. Worst case is he just keeps doing what hes doing. Im certainly not putting anyones life in danger for a deer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I have no problem with anyone being on the line as long as they are not shooting in at us. He already made it clear that he shoots our way and thinks its a problem if we put stands on our side anywhere near him. I am going to contact the lumber company on Monday and let them know as well. I am also having a very large and very official looking sign made for the gate. The last thing i want to do is have any kind of confrontation so I will always remain calm and if I need to I will call the sheriff or dec. in fact I may tomorrow anyway. He basically threatened me with a gun in his hand today. Twice. Not putting up with it. His anger over the other other neighbor to our south is amazing. He was trying to shoot across the corner of his land into our land and thinks the other landowners are the problem. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. So I went down to my new-this-year lease this morning to get some stands set. The people to the south of us have wooden box stands along the line facing into our property. I havent been able to get in touch with them and when i noticed last week that they had done some repairs, I put up a few posted signs to let them know this property is no longer open. Well it worked. Today on my way out, a guy stepped out if the brush in front of my atv. Holding a rifle. He was not hunting. I was polite and introduced myself, as did he. After some chit chat I told him we will respect property lines and we expect the same. His response was, and I quote. “I brought this in case I ran into any trouble” and looked at his 22 rifle. I knew what he meant. Then he said “I dont know what you are saying to me” I said no hunting or shooting across lines, if you are tracking a deer no problem, have at it. He said “ I have been hunting this area for 40 years, it ain’t changing now. I am an armed citizen and no one is taking anything from me.” He looked down at the .22 he was holding then leaned it against a tree. I responded, I understand. I defused it by asking about other people i have on camera. He said they are his son and his friend. Hmmmm. Then he asked if I had seen the 500lb bear on the (our) hill. I told him I have seen the pics. I was up there this morning cutting a path through the berries and was a little concerned that a 9mm wasnt going to be enough if I saw him. His posturing changed immediately. I told him I was leaving and would be back tomorrow. He simply said “Im a good guy, I am glad we wont have any problems” He also said not to bother his son, hes a good young man. And closed with a complaint about the guy next door who put a stand too close to his property line... also shooting our land. wtf??? I just went to Tractor Supply and Home Depot and got every posted sign I could find. Not screwing around with this guy. Any advice is welcome. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. It seems strange, but I imagine if the doors were just opened to everyone initially, it would be like Black Friday at Walmart. The place is tight, I don't think you could fit even 75 customers in there and control what's going on. Maybe a security decision?
  9. Yep, I just ordered a couple of things from Al last week, he noticed I was from Hamburg and said as was just getting too old to deal with the drive from Lockport to the Southtowns every day. So when an offer on the building came to him, he took it.
  10. Well, success is measured in many different ways. I may not take a deer, but still consider an outing successful. Maybe i can watch a red tail hawk on a nearby branch not knowing I am so close, once I watched two owls tag team a squirrel in a giant maple tree. Sometimes sitting for hours on a perfect fall morning thinking back about the times I spent with my Dad in the woods as a young man, or the times I spent with my boys when they were young is all it takes to make the day worthwhile. Helping one of my sons learn to track a poorly hit deer and the excitement when we find it. Watching a young buck walk by as I draw on him with no intention of taking him, though The week before I swore to myself I would take him if he comes by. I guess for me, its to have fun and enjoy the time outdoors more than anything else. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I totally agree with this. A quality climber is quiet and simple to master, I have moved to mostly ladders now and love them, sneaking in and being ready to go instantly is as easy as it gets.
  12. That's not really a true statement, I believe they are "made in Alabama from imported stock", but whatever, all I am saying is don't cheap out and put your life at risk to save money. I've been using climbers since the Baker, never heard of Cougar Claw.
  13. Exactly. I have purchased from them as well, they are great to deal with. My point about ordering online was that the Gun Center has an amazing inventory, if you want it, most likely they have it, Cabela's not so much, they may have it, but it's online, not in store.
  14. Craziest thing I have ever heard. You can't hunt from the ground? Why in the world are they shooting into a property that isn't theirs to begin with? Sounds like they are trying to push you out so they can hunt it maybe. Do yourself and your family a big favor and don't buy a cheap climber. It may be difficult, but spend the money and buy a Summit or Lone Wolf or any of the other proven, quality brands. You can find them used in near new condition for pretty cheap too.
  15. I'm sure being located 10 minutes from Cabela's in one direction and Gander in the other has hurt him. The last Browning shotgun I purchased from him was $100 cheaper than Cabela's website. I drove over, looked at it, and took it home that day instead of ordering it online and dealing with Cabela's customer service. When I bought that gun the guy said everyone thinks their price must be higher than the box stores, I'm sure many don't even bother to look there anymore.
  16. I bought this last fall, sighted it in, took it out once, shot a buck and never touched it again. It has a red/green illuminated scope, 5 arrows, quiver and Rage broad heads/ practice head. This crossbow is really nice and is in literally brand new condition. Its just not my thing. Asking $250. Im in the Buffalo area. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Congratulations! I hope it treats you well.Let me be the first...
  18. Even better, I'm in Hamburg. I'll be in touch.
  19. You have so many talents, keep it up. One of the properties we hunt is in Orangeville, I think you're out that way right? I'd like to buy one of your pieces some day.
  20. WOW! and you've only been doing this for what? A year? You're amazing, man!
  21. So fun! That's going to be nice and muddy on Sunday! Be sure to post the "after" pics.
