  1. Tough situation all around, but at least it sounds like the guy is reasonable. We have a guy that has box blinds along one of our property lines, on a logging road (ours). The guy told me at our first meeting that he has been shooting over the line for 40 years and isn't going to stop now then complained about another neighbor putting a stand too close to his property line! (LOL!). We put posted signs up smack dab in front of each box blind to reinforce the point. The local ECO officer told me to call immediately when they shoot a deer across the line, but we decided not to make a big issue out of it unless there are some other problems that arise. We walk right by their stands on the way in and out, we will ride the 4 wheelers by them pulling deer out and we park within 150 yards of one of the stands. I'm hoping our commotion will deter their activity somewhat. This is our first year on this property, but from what we can tell, the deer movement puts nearly all of the deer in front of our stands long before they ever reach the property line. We'll see what happens Saturday! Good luck!
  2. We have Big Game stands with the mesh seats that are 6 years old now. They have been outside since day one. The seats are holding up just fine. Next year I will replace some of the hardware, but whatever that mesh is, it is still good as new.
  3. I strap them together as Moog suggested, but I also add an axle with wheels that I strap to the "gripper" v-bar (the part that hugs the tree) then grab the end of the ladder and wheel it in like a cart. It works perfectly when we can't use the cart and ATV. The axle is in cart in the pic below.

    Gloves

I gave up on trying to find warm gloves years ago. Get a muff. I wear lightweight Manzella archery gloves all season long. I find they are enough keep the cold at bay when walking in, but once set up I use a hand muff with a warmer to stay toasty and dry. The lightweight gloves can fit in the muff comfortably, but are still enough protection when I need to grab the cold bow or gun. On the ATV I do wear heavy gloves, but am installing heated grips as soon as I have the time.
  5. If its moving I always stop them with a maaah, or "clicking" sound, if they hear it, they will stop. Once I actually yelled "HEY!" at buck who wouldn't stop for me – and he didn't stop for that either, just kept on trucking, nose to the ground.
  6. Man, I can't wait to get out there! Saturday morning is looking good for me and I'm off all next week. A lot going on lately, I really need some tree-time.
  7. Last night at 7:30ish I pulled out of my driveway and saw what looked to be a 2 1/2 year old 8pt on the hunt with his nose to the ground. Oscar Mike for sure!
  8. We pull ours down at the end off the season.
  9. We use them on all of our ladder stands. I purchased a few of the HHS lifelines, but have also purchased rope from a local climbing/adventure shop and made my own. The ropes are better quality and seem to hold up to the elements better than the HHS rope – and were significantly less expensive.
  10. The style at Gander may not be the exact one from that Cabela's pic, but similar. They seemed to be thickly insulated plus an insulated liner of some sort, they were heavy and very stiff. I don't know, I just saw these on the shelf and remembered this thread so I thought I would share in case anyone is interested.
  11. The ones at Gander we’re more like this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I just took one last look at Gander in Tonawanda. They have quite a good selection of Baffin boots 50% off if anyone in the Buffalo area is looking to get new cold weather boots Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Good to know! I'm going to head over to Cabela's after work and check them out.
  14. That's it, I'm getting one! I never thought of getting the one for the truck too.
  15. I have been wanting to pick up one of these bags or totes for a while, but I would not use one in the house or overhead in the stand or blind. Personally I don't like the idea of breathing it in. There are dangers associated to breathing ozone. I was told by my microbiologist son that "ozone kills biological cells and does not discriminate." it doesn't stop at odor causing bacteria, it will damage lung tissue. I have enough going wrong with me as it is, I don't need to speed up the process! LOL!
  16. I will clean them with bleach and water with a toothbrush. If it is undamaged I'll keep it in the quiver for an unforeseen shot opportunity at a coyote or something. I basically consider them one and done for deer, even fixed blades, though I have reused on deer a time or two. I will reuse arrows though, I don't see a problem with that at all if it is undamaged. I am shooting FMJs so you really can't flex them too much, but unless it is a hard impact through bone or into rocky ground after the shot I reuse it. There is no way I will ever believe an arrow slamming into a target over and over again all summer long is ok, but one or two clean pass throughs on a deer isn't.
  17. chorizo fundito... damn I'm getting hungry. There is a little place in Hamburg called El Canelo that has awesome "super burrito fundito" that's enough for three people. So good.
