  1. My last prep is going to get the old lady all ready with a checklist for her to make sure she has everything. Going to sit with her opening morning to hopefully get her first deer.
  2. I cracked the first 2 deer I shot this year, then had a brain fart and shot right over the next 2. Didn't bend at the waist and shot right over. It happens and buck fever is a sob. But that's why we keep at it!
  3. I'm pretty much red color blind also, takes be forever on blood trails. I've been practicing on deer even I see drop in sight!
  4. A half roll of paper towels saves my shoulder when sighting in a new scope on a 12 gauge lol
  5. Well I have 3 deer in my freezer so I'll sit with my fiancé and try to get her her first deer. I'll only shoot a big one this gun season or maybe 1 doe
  6. Does are pretty locked in my area 7s, I have twin button bucks all by themselves walki around
  7. Just had a doe full speed run by with a decent buck maybe at 8 doging her.
  8. 4-6 pt chasing a doe around and two other doe too far out
  9. Hanging deer is entry, other deer is exit.
  10. Hypo 125. Both my dad and I shot bucks and both hit ribs on both sides. One broadhead perfect after the other blades were slightly bent but still sharp as hell.
  11. Try the new hornaday America whitetail interlock sabot slug, shoots the same as the sst but hopefully better expansion. I've recovered every deer hit with a sst but they just go straight through without expanding.
  12. Not surprised this happened some where that most POLICE are not even armed let alone citizens.
  13. I wasn't calling you out vj I just remembered I just saw that pic the day before! I wish I could find mine I have a nice one like it from Last year.
  14. Core, the water with soap did nothing to the antlers for future reference. I wasn't real careful since it was my second time doing it and they didn't change at all. Bark is still on the bases from rubbing.
  15. Just a slow simmer in hot water, not Boiling. With dish soap added to degrease. You car get the brain out with a regular garden hose head. Then just start picking away knife, dental tool, wire brush, needle nose plyers. Meat comes off much easier while warm. Then after you are about done with meat I let it dry then scrape the rest off with a knife.
  16. i do, i think its just a right place kinda year. i have 10 differnt bucks hitting one scrape at a property i havnt been bowhunting because my bow tags is filled. cant wait till gun! im towards maine.
  17. initally your going to need 3-4 hours. then i just clean a little bit up each day. i probably have 5 hours into it. i dont whiten them i like the natural bone look on a piece of cedar off ebay. i leave it by the coal stove to dry the excess in between days and nights. its alot easier than i thought.
  18. Got dads "6" point cleaned up. I'm pretty sure legally it's a 5 lol. He's never going to give me my rage hypodermic back after this.
  19. nice! my first bow deer was a spike. only can go up from there, now i have a 4 pt and 6pt. next need a bow 8 point!
