  1. So my buddy's talked me into going to Alabama in January for their gun season. It's at a lodge in south east Alabama and it's the last week of the season. My first hesitation is the lateness of the season, but we're told it's a good time to go because the rut down there doesn't hit peak till mid January. Any thoughts?
  2. After several blown shots on a few big boys, at least a nice size doe redeemed me today
  3. I finally have a doe walk to within 18 yards, arrow flys 7 inches past her chest and into the ground, clean miss. I couldn't have missed, no way. I arrive home and send a few arrows into a target, all going way to the right. Guess when I dropped the bow the other day putting it into the case it knocked the site pin off kilter , ugh
  4. First sit of the season, first I drop my boonie cap after I strap in, look like a big white light bulb, then I move at 1:30 to a spot 75 away. Then I drop my grunt tube, and of course a decent 8 ptr steps out of the trail I originally set up on this morning, ugh!!

  9. I shot a 700lb cow in Vermont in 2011, had to be quartered and carried out in our backs. They are solid animals, and yes great eating.
  10. I'm afraid to ask the condition of the driver. Hope it ended well.
  11. One less moose in NY, hit by a car in Cortlandt Manor, their getting closer to the city.
  12. Field dressed at only 120 lbs, town of lake Huntington 3H. Side story, as I'm gutting her, I hear foot steps coming towards me from the ridge line above me, it's another, much bigger bear, that comes to within 25 ft before he knows I'm there and lumbers off. My rifle was 8 ft behind me leaning against a tree. That was a pucker moment.
  13. Well she's not huge but I've got some bear meat.
  14. As a member of the NYPD, I got the call at 10:30 am that it was all hands on deck. Everyone has to report asap to their commands. The border of NYC was locked down and it was difficult to make it to Queens. My assignment that night was to guard a fire house in Queens because it was empty do to the responce to Manhattan, We were told at about 9 pm that many of these guys are not coming back. I spent many hours in the weeks and months after at ground zero, Its not a time I ever want to live thru again.
  15. Mom and the kids enjoy breakfast at Theodore Roosevelt's Sagamore Hill.
  16. Nice size poult in New Suffolk LI.
  17. The great thing about being on the archery team is unlike all the other events, it doesn't require you to be in the gym 4 hours a day 7 days a week. I can handle that.
