  1. My personal goal on bucks has changed over the years. Like anyone else, I really want to harvest a good buck...8 to 10 points with good mass. May never happen, but I'll keep trying until someone has to pull my bow from my cold dead hands. My goal is one thing, but to someone that just wants to hunt and take that spike on the only weekend he/she has to hunt...then go ahead and enjoy. To see that grin on someones face for accomplishing what he/she set out to do will put a grin on my face too. Would love to have my only son hunt and enjoy such an adventure in taking that spike or doe...guess it will not happen due to a lack of interest. Take what you want( legally) and enjoy the great outdoors.
  2. I'm lucky to pull off 6 days of hunting, let alone 3 months, the way my wife reacts to deer season. Good for you and good luck.
  3. Cool...but I'm looking for Blood Knife this year.
  4. Seems like I saw a similar picture last year about this time...coffee mug on a railing, overlooking paradise. Same person? Regardless, I like it and good luck this coming season.
  5. Your print reminds me of my days of laying out underground electrical utilities in shared trenching with other utilities in the Ellicottville NY Ski country area. Property landlocked as your property seems to indicate, may not be worth the bother, especially with the possibility of the land being developed further than it appears to be already. Seems to me like a hassle to purchase and hunt land, then possibly be surrounded by others in the future who may not appreciate that you hunt.
  6. G-4's look a little weak...maybe let him walk??? LOL beauty..
  7. Perhaps the bow hunters in the group will break down and hunt does. So the neighbors think you are going to take a doe without the proper doe tag?
  8. ....Temps to remain abnormally high( 70's) for the next three weeks with little rain, If Kevin O'connell of WGRZ is to be believed. Hate to harvest a deer in warm conditions.
  9. set up somewhere between the dining room and their bedroom for results.
  10. Bothers me a bit. People more involved in gambling than just rooting for their team. Guess I'm old fashioned.
  11. You are so correct. I'm looking forward to next weekend when several of us guys will gather for an overnight to burn a few steaks, have a couple drinks and reminisce, about days gone by
  12. I deliver deer to the butcher as soon as possible. Would like to cut it up myself at home but my wife would kill me.
  13. My weekend plan, beginning yesterday, was spending the day at the Annual old time steam engine show in Alexander, NY. Those old steam engine road graders, farm steam engines, One lungers, etc were cool to see in action. Amazing that these machines were the forerunners of things to come. Was planning to go today, but the prediction of rain today forced me to go yesterday. Nice show.
  14. At our camp, the last of the "old Guard" will soon be leaving. I think I know how you feel about the changes. I will miss this fellow. We really started hunting deer with bow together about 15 years ago, and really enjoyed the time together, including the cooking, the sitting around the fire, and having more than a few glasses of Merlot shooting the breeze. When he no longer comes, a lot of the fun at camp will go with him. I now struggle with my enthusiasm for the bow hunt. I sure do not want to bow hunt alone....that's not fun.
  15. dang good looking plots..Let me know if you need any help bagging a buck..lol
  16. Being forgetful can be troublesome, butt the dirt nap is a bit more trouble in my estimation....BRILLIANT!!!
