Made my shooting stick out of an old cross country ski pole...strap already built in. stuck a "u" shaped screw in hanger thing into the top that swiveled and I'm good to go. Spent a buck. Not adjustable for height, but good enough for me...and it doubles as a walking stick.

Yep, 7 day forecasts are garbage..even 2 or three days out is unreliable. Some of these rookies on TV weather are pathetic. I remember the days of the family of 7 piling into the station wagon and heading out to our relatives farm in wyoming county on winter days. Of course, my parents watched/ listened to the reports on radio or TV. If any if snow was predicted, we took our time and got there and returned just fine. Nowadays, the gloom and doom forecasting, trying to strike fear into people is ridiculous. I will pay heed to Scoutlook, or intellicast for info on weather. All the happy talk on TV "Snooze" is crepe too....I leave the room to do something else when my wife sits down to watch...would rather have pitchfork in my forehead that watch that stuff. Bring back Tom Jolles..

Would like to see Allegany State park thinned out a bit. I believe there was some thought in doing so about 20 years ago, but people were against it. Would like to see undergrowth for the critters. I would like to see how the Yellowstone park fire from 30 years transformered the park...I'll bet things are growing back nicely and wildlife are thriving.

I'm hoping for a uneventful preseason...that is no significant injuries, Cassell becomes a decent field general, they show nothing, go 0-4, and turn it on when real bullets fly...Hope i wasn't too violent about the bullet thing... No separate camo patterns for me. I just go with the Mossy Oak camo I bought 10 years ago. Deer do not seem to see me with it on. With the camo, I have harvested 3 good bucks with the bow at a total of 20 yards. Guess I'll stick with what works.

The wife and I took a ride out to Allegany State Park and decided to rent a couple Kayaks. We had a lot of fun and want to buy. Any recommendation on where to go and look for decent Kayaks? Plastic, fiberglass, carrier for the SUV..Single person Kayaks ...not double...don't want to risk divorce.LOL

Sure getting complicated out there when it comes to deer hunting....maps of lightly shaded areas...dark shaded areas...diagonal lines going every which way...Shaded diagonal lines....yellow, green purple...southern zone...northern zones. It would help when DEC demands that all hunters report in on their season of hunting, be it successful or tag soup, and get a handle on things. If no report from the hunter, no tag(s) for the following season. I can more readily accept re-drawn boundaries for hunting this or that and at what time frame, when accurate info is provided. Goes for turkey too. I'm waiting for open season on drones....

Rather see the State Police have their vehicles in shape, than hire some people as prison employees who help convicted killers with their escape plans.
