Gave up on my patch at 2pm. Going to neighbors at 4pm. Hardly any rubs anywhere on the property this year. I got some pics of nice deer once or twice , but I'm not sure how local they are. Might have to wait for the rut to see some serious Bucks.

Been hearing single shots at first light recently. Anything else going on hunting wise?

Yeah, that was me today but I had to get in and eat, was getting light headed. I compromised by doing a slow stalk through some bedding areas. Noticed the neighbor has a mighty fine food plot too this year. Maybe that's why I have no deer in the woods!?

Did a 3 hour morning sit. Before the rains hit, the squirrels and crows went mental in the tree tops. They were dropping the acorns to such an extent, it sounded like bags of rocks coming down. Sadly, no deer came in for the buffet. Heading out again soon for a long one. Oh, and my new tree umbrella works a treat. Best investment for a while.

It is early days. I would wait for the big guy personally, try and scout him down more. That said, if the 8 turns up and you pass, you may never see him again. This is hunting.

Put down a pile of toffee apples, wait until they are side by side and go for a twofer.

Saw a video of a buck hit by a car; he came back and charged as the driver opened the door and leapt into the vehicle, injuring the driver. Deer staggered off and died moments later.

Doe can live a long time

Hunted my neighbors 20 acres this morning. Lovely sit, no deer. My positive vibes failed to bring in a monster willing to participate in the plan of action. Gonna take a few days off, give the woods a break during these warmer days.

I stopped after having to chisel some broad-heads out of trees.

Opening Day Bucks Could You Pass Them?
The_Field_Ager replied to NFA-ADK's topic in Hunting Related Pictures
I get little pleasure from killing doe or Bucks under 3. I will if the end of the season is nigh and I need the meat, but the first 2/3 of the season are about the challenge of connecting with larger, wiser Bucks. I pass on smaller Bucks a lot during Bow.
