  1. here is the 3pt the young fella corked
  2. A youngster just blasted a 4 pt a few hundred yards from me... guess I'll go give them a hand here in a minute
  3. One in 5s... not a single rub yet. Weird... it was torn up October 1st last year.
  4. Great story.... I read your adk buck story for the second time a few days ago. Thanks for sharing and congrats on another great buck!
  5. Jumped two on the way in.... about a half mile from the stand. Looking good here!
  6. bambi is back and vacuuming acorns [emoji3]
  7. Well after seeing that buck and doe walk out of my life a skipper walked the same route... probably wondering what mommy is doing. Then a father son duo came by. They saw the 8 pt 60 yards from their stand.
  8. Weeeeelllllll..... I just lost a chance at a real nice buck thanks to this phone.... unfriggin believable.... insert nasty language....
  9. Go hunting... about the second beer in you'd be kicking yourself.
  10. Took a peak at my trail cam that I set under my stand Friday. .. big ol' doe walked 15 yards out broadside at 600 pm yesterday... Sigh. Winds to the north... hopefully critters to the east.
  11. Right now in 5s I'd say we are at least a week (or two) behind in activity from last year. Last year this time I was finding rubs and scrapes everywhere. I have yet to find a rub or a scrape after walking about 3 miles in the woods between last saturday posting land and a quick hunt yesterday afternoon.
  12. I draw and bend or bend and draw... tailor it to the situation. My targets are set up at the bottom of an embankment so I only practice from an elevated position. It has proven to be worthwhile. The walking up and down the hill to retrieve the arrows gets old though!
  13. NFA- You may have missed it but according to shawn any dicussion of string jump at distances under 75 yards isn't allowed in this thread. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but your valid argument is inadmissable. Hi Shawn...
  14. LOL. The first story the guy missed an ELK twice at 60 yards, then finally hit one far back in the liver at 60 yards. If that was a smaller bodied animal, like a whitetail, that would have been 3 misses most likely, not a great link for your argument. It's bad enough that deer are known to "string jump" at distances much closer than 50 yards. Edit: Just re-read the first story it was 2 misses, one bad hit (non-fatal, no recovery or follow up shot), and one far back liver kill.
  15. I haven't used Winchester ammo in about 10 or 12 years. I bought a box of 150 gr. .308 SuperX and had 4 misfires, maybe 5. I couldn't believe it. Then a friend of mine last year had several misfires using the same thing.
  16. A friend of mine saw a 4pt yesterday that still had horns.
  17. We just got reamed to the tune of $3.85, and we paid $3.50 a few weeks before.
  18. On a somewhat related note, I have a spot that I hunt spring gobblers in Arcade that is thick with sap lines. What a PIA hunting around them.................................................. I hear you there. I hunt a property that has 3500 tapped. It eiminates a lot of area for deer hunting. I make my own syrup with a good friend of mine. It is always a great time and something I look forward to every year. We have two wood fired half pint Leader evaporators set up in a lean-to next to a nice stream with waterfalls running by. Actually I just ran out of my personal syrup .
  19. very nice... I bit into part of my SST last week...
