I never said you can buy that stuff with food stamps. You cannot withdrawl money from a food EBT stamp card for non grocery purchases, I never said you could. People are extracting taxpayer money VIA the EBT card (welfare) to make improper transactions. It happens everday. You are the one who hung your hat on the word DIRECTLY as in DIRECTLY using the EBT card to buy alcohol, tobacco. The end result is still the same. Customer walks in to Stewarts, asks for Marboro Reds and uses the HTM and EBT to purchase.

So you think I am naive because I believe it is wrong. I never said we'd be able to prevent the money being spent improperly. You like to argue don't you? Here is my rundown on your argumen:t I was pointing out how EBT card are used to buy improper items. Then you said no they can't be used. I said yes they can, then showed how the gov't is trying to stop it from happening and I am called naive. Right, got it.

That aricle was from 6 months ago I don't know what became of it, but hopefully something. The legislation was prompted by media reports by the New York Post, NBC News and others that showed EBT cards were regularly being used in locations such as bars, liquor stores, tobacco shops and even strip clubs. Last month, Florida became the first state to enact such a ban.

In the end people are withdrawing public assistance funds (such as welfare) to buy beer and tobacco. Stewarts has a HTM machine where they can wihdraw $ to buy beer and tobacco. I don't know what you are arguing for.
-
Currently, no law exists protecting public assistance cash benefits from being either used to purchase alcohol, tobacco or lottery tickets, or withdrawn or used in any liquor store, casino or establishment providing adult-oriented entertainment.

Good lord look at this, http://www.nysenate.gov/press-release/ritchie-no-taxpayer-dollars-smokes-booze-lotto This is a little old I realize.

Umm you can use an EBT card for alcohol and tobacco. So the people I saw using an EBT card were probably on either welfare or unemployment. Food stamps is just for food I think.

I had no idea either until this summer. A friend of mine does HVAC/Refer. work for Stewarts. He said whenever he is working down in Troy that he notices what seems to be 1 out of every 3 tansactions is for beer or smokes with an EBT card. He saw a dude buying HEINEKEN with an EBT card over the summer. How is that legal?
-
I can't believe that they can use EBT cards to buy beer and cigarettes. I threw up in my mouth when I saw a woman buying a pack of smokes on a "benefits" card. I really bit my tongue hard not to give her a lecture and say how she should be ashamed. I agree with Early though, there are some folks who have been dealt a crappy hand, and do need a leg up. There are so many people who don't have any pride and work the system. There should be some wayto prove you are putting in an effort to better yourself and your family while on these programs.

Good luck Red, I wish you the best and a speedy recovery. I nearly lost my old empoyer to pneumonia. He went to the doctor thinking he had it, and the Dr said no. Three days later he was in ICU and within a few days he was given hours to live. He pulled through and was released about a month later. I was blown away when I first laid eyes on him. He had aged 30 years and was barely mobile. It is no joke at all, get well soon.

Have the money, now I have to choose…
BUCKANDAQUARTER replied to CuseHunter's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
I have a model 70 in 25-06. I love that gun... I picked it up for 400... pretty much had to pry it from the guys hands, but he needed the money. beautiful checkering and it is a tack driver. i would have prefered a larger caliber but the .25 is good enough for what i want. the only think i don't like about it is the thought of dinging it up out in the field. Wally world sold some synthetic ones with a simmons scope. i was looking at one in .243WSSM about a month ago on gun broker. -

wow 6 dead so far... I was heading out ice fishing behind my parents house this past weekend and there were some nice tracks on the pond walking along the little embankment. I followed them towards a swamp and where one was rooting around I saw some horn marks in the snow on one side- outside of where the ears would be... I think I'll be heading into the swamp sometime soon!

My buddy said I can have his hang on i helped him put up about 6 years ago. he lost interest in hunting and left it in the tree. I found just the spot for it too. while hunting the land i got permission to hunt this years i found some beautiful hardwoods. I was looking around and i found "the perfect" tree. I was really excited to find such a spot... i looked up and some one else must have had this "perfect" tree. There was an old ratchet strap grown into the tree about 20 feet up, no stand, just a tie down strap. lol. i guess i'll take it down next year when i hang the stand.
