  1. Start an incision on the inside of the legs run that into an incision that goes up to the neck then caper it like you would a deer. Make the leg cuts just above the ankle and if you use a sharp knife you can usually get most of the paws off too.
  2. If it's raining hard enough to need a rain coat I am not hunting! To many things to go wrong. On a good day blood can be hard to find on the leaves! Gun is a different story but then you don't have all the sound issues either.
  3. Good thing one of those Albany sheriffs didn't see you, you would be in jail still!! LOL
  4. I agree with you. I used to hunt an open hunting spot people would come and go and nobody cared. Gun guys would volley shots at a deer and then wouldn't look for it because they didn't see it drop. Crazy way of thinking. I think alot of gun hunters put to much confidence into the bullet. Most think it is like the movies! Another factor too is most bow hunters aren't shooting 100+ yards! You ever try to find the exact place that far away after a shot? It usually takes the shooter sitting in place and putting someone else in the spot the deer was it is still hard then.
  5. Awesome! It sounds like you mIght be trying for a litter?
  6. I am glad I didn't get Taptalk then!!
  7. What happened to the option of going to the last page that you read? It workedawsome for some of the bigger post. You could pick up where you left off!
  8. I was lookingup copperheads and I guess the deer behind me didn't like it. Alls I heard was blowing. I didn't hear it tear off so there might be a chance.
  9. I opted for shorts and my bugz skinz almost just wore the bug skins! Hoping for something moving. I also checked a few cams and just had does. Soon the does will be hounded though. Good times are still to come.
  10. I am thinking the same thing. Going to go for the long hot walk!! Maybe shorts
  11. The problem is most would just steal the stuff still and just pocket the 20's!!
  12. Wierd a squirrel must of took them to post his den!÷
  13. Wow is it hot out! The walk back was wet and not from dew! I saw a real nice red fox coming in he almost had a arrow sticking out his side! He was eyeballing my chikens!
  14. I started with a compound Martin tiger. I practiced and practiced but was nevery consistent with it. (I was young) I hit and lost a decent buck with it and put the bow down. About 3 years later I picked up a sovereign mace recurve and fell in love with the simplicity of it and I was confident with it. I shot my first deer (recovered) with it. That was it I never turned back. That being said I have been hunting with a bow for 18 years and been successful pretty much every year. I have lost 3 deer that I know were mortally wounded (gut shot etc.) It happens the thing is you have to step back and learn from it.
  15. Ok so let's move the debate to (What makes a great picture) I started that topic in deer hunting so we could get back to live from the stand!!
  16. I would think owning land would make a difference. One you can till, cut trees and make the land productive to growing older mature deer. So you would have a greater opportunity to take a mature animal. Some it wouldn't make a difference to though. Some think that a 4 point is a trophy no matter how many you have on the wall. There is nothing wrong with that. It's what makes hunting great. No matter where you hunt state or private there are nice deer 2 year old plus. The thing is you have to put effort to finding them.
  17. thats the one that the other arrow is sticking out of!!
  18. I would agree with dan. When rut comes you might not see him till it's over. Get the winds right and hunt it early or late.
  19. Here I am sitting in a treestand and the deer are at my house!
  20. That's what I did today got off stsnf and cut wood. Only difference I have been doing it all year!
  21. Go back around 4 this afternoon and bring someone with you or call deer search. If you have a buddy have one guy looking at the blood and one guy watching for the deer. So slow and as quite as you can.
