  1. If you can clean a deer out in the field you should be able to cut one up with no problem. good luck.
  2. I think what he is saying big deer are fine and if someone wants to wait and let deer pass but he doesn't want ar to determine what he can shoot. Big deer are great to see but shooting a huge deer isn't what deer hunting is about it is about being out in the woods and enjoying comrodery between hunting partners. I think to many people just want to walk out see a big deer shoot it then have the bragging right. Not do your homework all year and put in some time. Many people have said it before antlers taste like crap.
  3. If I was closer I would help you. If you can get your hands a butchers map that tells you where the steaks are and the rump roasts you can cut on those line and make you steaks and roast blah blah blah. It sounds easy but you are right it is intimidating. Check this site out,
  4. Lets all hope they don't move in for our farmers sake. I think it is only a matter of time though before we see them here to stay
  5. What it comes down to is if you don't own the property don't go on it. If it is not posted and you stumble across the line understandable if it is posted stay out. You guys have said you tried to contact the owner and he wouldn't let you on, so you DON'T hunt near that property line. Yes deer can run a long ways and might cross that bad line. Then I might agree with the whole go over and get it and don't ask. I bet if you didn't wait till the day of something happening you might get a better response. Try asking mid year. If there are numbers on the posted signs they tend to be there so you can contact that property owner if something goes down. These guys tend to have the experience of people being rude and obnoxious with total diregard for them and there property. That is why they are so harsh. Lets face it people don't care guys want to use the land then don't take care of it. It is great walking on your property to find garbage that someone left there for you to clean up. Lets see if you pay for your own house, condo, apartment and you come home to find some guy in there and he says oh sorry I got lost or my dog ran through here do you say alright well let me help you out or find your dog for I doubt it you are getting the police there asap. This example might be on a different scale but it is the same princple.
  6. Sounds like an excuse to get around it to me. I am just busting on you anyway. Trees are a natural ocurring thing in the wild and some fall down and some get cut.
  7. I would be interested in watching you shoot a hundred round through a slug gun. You must have a shoulder of steel. 600 feet is WAY TO FAR for a shot gun. That is a long shot for a rifle. Again just my opinon but I would like to see you shoot 200 yards acuratly time and again!
  8. I am looking to buy a arrow fletcher. I don't want to spend a ton of money on something that doesn't work well. I am looking for a helical right. What do you guys have and how much where they?
  9. I went on you tube and watched some of those poaching videos. Some of these guys don't even stop shooting when the warden pulls up and is walking towards them. How safe is that they shoudl confiscate everything everytime no questions asked. People would stop if they new they were going to loose important things. They get away with it that is way they do it.
  10. catskillkid I think that is considered baiting right? j/k
  11. How cool would it be for one of those guys to stumble up on you while on stand.
  12. Where about in the adks are these guys? I have a friend that has a camp and he says there are tracks all over the place some big some small and some gigantic.
  13. That last bull is a noce one. There are propbably some monsters in the adks.
  14. Scot how many times are you going to catch a guy? If you go in the first year and find a gut pile under your treestand do you say sweet someone got a deer. Next year you see the guy walking through off in the distance on your property but can't get his attension. Third year another gut pile or two. Then you finally meet up with the guy cleaning a deer, he says first time I ever hunted here you say congrats and help drag I doubt it. People do get lost and turned around and yeah you know what people shoot deer and they can run a long way even with a decent shot. If these people go about it the right way MOST of the time they can get thier deer. It might take a little longer than just walking across the property line but it is the correct thing to do. The point these guys are trying to make I think is it is there land and not some yahoo that thinks he can just stop and walk in and make it his own. This doesn't just have to be about deer maybe they don't want rutted atv trails on there property etc. Doc is just saying it is his land and he pays for it and he shouldn't have to share it with me or the next guy. Let alone patroll it for tresspassers when he is trying to enjoy his hobby on his land.
  15. Good for DEC, they should put on some bigger fines and not let people go. If you poach what ever is in your truck and your truck gets put to auction. THen you get a nice fine on top of it. All the auction money can go back into catching poachers.
  16. That area will probably hold deer they can get in thier and feel safe. I would try to hunt it. The funny thing about that stuff is we can't even walk through it but the deer slide through it without making a noise. It is unbelievable
  17. I like that rack. It would be hard for me to wait on him but he would be nice next year.
  18. It almost looks like the little guys has the pattern also. Right between the shoulder blades.
  19. You have to give the guys the benifit of the doubt. Unless you can tell other wise. I agree with 77 some photos look fishy but there is no real proof.
  20. If you can deal with the noise the morning and night stands do work. They have worked for me and the machines didn't bather the deer one bit. They are noisy though. If you are looking for peace and quite then don't hunt there.
  21. Right on bubba, I didn't ge a deer last year and boy do I miss the venision. I have a little left over form the year before and I am making it last till this season.
  22. Lets say good loggers won't cut those trees down.
  23. Doc You also have to rember that thos western states propably get alot more money from hunters. Those states are geared towards outdoors and hunting. NewYork has too many far right wing and left wing people that don't want guns and could care less about hunting and a tradition like that. We are a corupt state and that will never change.
