  1. I would say call the parks and recs there really is nothing online saying what is happeneing.
  2. i DIDN'T KNOW YOU COULD HUNT SCHODACK ISLANps
  3. I have seen those spots and tried them too. I think we find them and they are a super travel way when we aren't there but I think the setup must just be wrong. Something like the wind just blows sents right to the deer or the can see you in there somehow. I have had spots like this then the exact opposite someplace you would think a deer would never travel hardly any sign. You get a stand there and it is just a producer. Don't really know why but those spots are out there.
  4. You guys that use it all the time, how do you know it works I have been in the woods after a nice breakfest hunting small game and watched deer walk within 5-10 yards downwind of me and never smell me. I think the scent stuff gives you an ease on you brain and you might not have to do all the prep that the guys that don't use it do but that is it. I think we all have had deer close to us with the stuff and with out it. I have never done any real experments with the stuff so I don't know But I know I don't use it and I see deer down wind and they don't smell me. You have to relize too that the wind isn't always just going straight downwind . If you guys use something that foats on the air it is amazing to see what it actually does when wind get 5 10 feet away from your stand. I find it very rarly goes straight down to the ground or down wind. It usually turns and twists goes up and down.
  5. I am going to need some sleeping pills tonight. maybe I will just go sit out there all night
  6. Well you have to weigh the options One: deer seem to move after a rain storm wich we are having. Two: deer seem to hang tight in wind as far as I have seen. Now with the combination rain then wind I would think you would get some movment but it might be dampened a little. If it is very windy the deer will be on high alert so sit tight and don't move alot and keep you sent in mind.
  7. I don't understand why we have to put a bog buck as the pride of hunting is it nice yes but being out there and enjoying the field is what it is about. Then enjoying a STEAK dinner with your hunting buddies. Can't eat the antlers. I agree with VJP there are some huge bucks running around I see pics of that every year people just have to outsmart them. If there were a ton of them around they would loose their mystic releavence to the hunter.
  8. I used sent killer for a year it ran out(bottle got a hole in it my car was invisable) and it made no differnce that I could see, still had deer close by never senting me when i wasn't useing the stuff. Of course my clothes are hanging out when I am at work and not hunting. They stay pretty nuetral. I use a earth sent for a cover and then get a real doe pee for the rut.
  9. This is the one weekend I just sit and watch. The deer should dtill be in there unpressured state. So hopfully they will just be traveling down the right trail (my trail). I have stopped using any calls in high presured areas the just don't seem to work. I think all the people must blow every call they can at them to try to get them to come in. Anyway if you feel like it try it out who knows you might get the big one.
  10. Hunt in the rain even if it is pouring. I don't see how people do this in bow season. I know they have the stuff to sit out inthe rain and not get wet but say you make a marginable shot, that blood trail doesn't get better with rain. Plus I have shot deer and made a lung shot just high and had a shit blood trail for 100 yards and that was when it was sunny and dry out. I am not telling that you can't hunt but if it is pouring out I am not out there bow hunting. Gun hunting is a totally different story.
  11. We have a 30% chance of rain right now. How that 70% of no rain come through.
  12. Who know maybe they were going to harvest "crops" they had planted. Nobody knows what they were doing only those two guys do. No matter who you are you have to say it was a shady deal to be walking into the woods at night with a rifle.
  13. So I was out checking out some new terrain this weekend and I couldn't belive the amount of rubs and scrapes. Some of the scrapes were beat. They weren't huge but really pawed up. I saw a couple of deer and walked into the woods where they were and swear I smelled a buck. Just gives me more reasons to look forward to this weekend. Saturday can't get here fast enough. I just hope it doesn't rain like they said it might.
  14. There are big deer all across New York state. Smart people just don't talk about it and most of it is done with out ar's.
  15. I think of night as getting dark or dark. If he said sunday afternoon then maybe a "hey what are you guys doing this is private land" might do. Sits your telling me that if you saw someone walking into your property at NIGHT time with a gun you wouldn't call the cops I bet 95% of people would anf the other 5% should be smart enought too.
  16. I never even know who is playing any games. I walked into a bar one night and was like man it is dead in here what is going on the bartended was like um the superbowl. I was was like oh woops. Never really got into sports just not my style. To much to see outside in the world.
  17. Gut shots aen't fun nut they do happen. I have hit deer hugh in th lungs and had them run hundreds of yards. We are hunting strong willed animals. Persistance pays off in the end. Don't let any leaf go unturned if you do gut shoot a deer and give it lots of time.
  18. Somebody sent that to me at work and my office is kinda stuffy, I was laughing so hard I had to leave the office. Everytime I see it I can't stop laughing.
  19. I have a soverign mace I bought from a garage sale for 30 dollars. This bow was made before the wheel and pully days. I shoot alumin arrows through it with fingers imagine that no release. Ha Ha
  20. Back in the old days they let the stupid get thined out. Now we are way to smart for our own good.
  21. Awsome glad to hear you had such a good day. I am glad to see pics of deer to season has been open and havn't seen one pic. Again congrats.
  22. Where abouts do you hunt in northern zone and albany?? Welcom aboard
  23. Is this the boat you are looking at? http://www.madrivercanoe.com/product/index/products/recreation/adventure_destiny_series/adventure_16 I have been around Mad river canoes for awhile now. This is a newer boat and I havn't paddled it but from the looks of it it looks like it can take a licking. It almost looks like a kayak. The madriver name is a great name and I highly recomend it, old town is another good name if you are looking around. It is late in the season but I know you can go to local outfitters and they should have paddle days and if you are looking to buy a boat you can demo them before you buy. If you look hard enough you might be able to buy the as a demo. They tend to be a couple of hundred dollars cheaper. They will have scratches on them but they are still great boats. Good luck on your new boat.
  24. Nice deer that deer's ear weighs more than the deer I got. Can you say skunked. Anyway congrats on the nice deer.
