  3. How long do you guys wait to start training your dogs to be in the field???
  4. I should stat that i am using round balls still.
  5. I think the DEC has already made it possible for you to hunt close to house just need writen consent. I think that is the way it should stay, that way if you get that deer and it dies in between the pool and the patio the land owner already knows you are there and can't be overly suprised.
  6. The old empire hunting forum had a link to a make your own website. I lost the link and had a website on it. Would anybody happen to know the name of that old website.
  7. Like the idea of the show thaought that was great and the shooting was phenominal. The whole drama thing like it was a club house on MTV sucked. I guess the reality and drama is the way they get people hooked though.
  8. Often overlooked is the Weaver scopes they are also a redfield product (I think). I have two one on a win. 30-30 wich was about 200$ and then I just put one on a sav. 308 and that one was around 260$ they are great with optics and clearity. My father had one on his 30-06 for years (10-20+). The thing was always dead acurate took a few hits and kept on keeping on. It finally gave up and that was only when you where in a torent rain for a long period of time and it would just start to fog a little. I love my two scopes and would buy another in a heart beat.
  9. Got a couple of those foam blocks today put them together with a life size vital that I printed out works great. Thanks so much
  10. page 20 says it all in a good way. Hunting should be the enjoyment that one gets put of it. There own personal goals to acheive. Nobody Gov. DEC or Joe Shmo should be able to say what you can or can't shoot.
  11. I think if you are going to be able to put scopes on crossbows they should go in rifle season! Just a thought.
  12. This is where your individual judgment comes in. Which I think is great. I let deer walk by sometimes then others I don't can't tell you why. I hunt in some high presured areas though so when I see one and it is close enough I take the shot. I think if I had 100 acres or so and I knew there where some nice deer around that weren't overly pressured I would tend to let little deer walk by.
  13. Burm, I have climbed many trees with the solid steps. as long as they are in the tree good and solid u should be fine. Just be carefull if you wear soft rubber boats. Those steps if at the right angle can be very slippery. I have had my feet slide off of them very quickly leaves you kinda hanging there going holy sh**.
  14. I have a Hawkin 54 cal. Muzzelloader. I use bore butter on all my patches. It works great for lubrication and it cleans well out of my gun. I give it a thumbs up.
  15. I would always shoot. Like you said tag soup is a little starchy.
  16. Don't care about crossbows being used. Just don't change the season that is my issue. They shouldn't get a special season. Put them with the muzzelloaders.
  17. I have two bows: Main bow is a Martin vision 50# @ 28" Small game bow Soveriegn Mace 40# @ 28"
  18. http://www.freewebs.com/mohawkhudsontrad/ Here is the Web site for the club. We shoot alot in Vooresville but go from Amsterdam to green Island and beyond. The club Prezident is Jeff V. and it is a 20 dollar membership fee for the year.

    Practice

I try to shoot all year long. Just a few shots every couple of days. Then as season creeps up I shoot more. I never try to shoot to many times i'll stop before I get tired and start getting disapointed in my shooting. Stoping earlier helps you get better results when you come back the next time.
  20. I want to pick up a camera I have 2 wildviews now they were between 50 and 80 dollars. Get what you pay for I know. I am looking for a camera around 100-150 that takes great pics. I don't want to spend a couple hundred when people steal the things. Just wondered if anybody has any feedback.
  21. i PICKED UP A SAVAGE 308 RECENTLY. I PUT A NEW SCOPE ON IT AND SEEMS TO BE A NICE SHOOTING GUN. HAVN'T HUNTED WITH IT YET BUT PLAN TO SOON.
  22. I am glad to see people that reload on this site I just got a bunch of dies and reloaders very cheap and now I have to start reloading I am waiting for the cool weather so I can put benches in my garage. Then start another hobby.
  23. We have a traditional archery club down this way. Mowhawk trad archers. Great club with a great bunch of guys. We get together every month or so and shoot at some crazy course the Prez sets up. It is fun plus keeps you shooting all year long.
  24. Food for thought, I generally don't think that using trail cams is that intrusive to the deer if you do it right. Last year I started in july left them up for a couple of weeks then took them down cleaned them up to set them back out sept into oct. When I set them in sept I started with the same deer then as it got closer to the season the deer stopped using the trails. They all new the cameras where there. I always get the up close nose face shot. This year I will have my cameras out at the begining of sept. We will see if it makes a difference.
