  1. I think the SAFE Act was the last straw. NY's awesome business climate has been driving business out for years. Now all those Senators and Congressmen who said Remington wasn't going any where can eat their hats. and I'm with you, I don't blame Remington one bit. NY is a hostile work environment especially for a gun manufacturer. NY doesn't deserve the jobs.
  2. My old one was a cheap one from Bass Pro, didn't make it half way through the season before the strap broke. So now I need a new one and boy are there a lot of choices. You guys have any recommendations for a new one? I want to stay around $100 or less and it's primarily just for holding my snacks, drinks, lures calls etc while I'm in my stand. I'm not packing a weeks worth of stuff into it and heading to the woods for weeks at a time but at the same time I would like one that's going to last for many seasons.
  3. I really don't like the strap being around my wrist but I know I'd drop a thumb release.
  4. Man am I glad I didn't have to go to any of those lengths to get to my stands
  5. Training the person is always harder than training the dog.
  6. I ordered mine online last week. Obviously they're mailing me mine but it didn't say whether my DMP's were approved or not like it does in the store when you get it. Am I just supposed to wait and see if they show up with my license and the rest of the tags?
  7. Well then there's that too lol. In all seriousness though I don't think I know any men that drive a car.
  8. I just got my cameras out this past weekend. I seem to remember though last year we didn't have hardly any bucks on cam for weeks and then right before the season they were everywhere.
  9. I found with my grandparents they get more stubborn the older they get. Scary to think what I'll be like at my grandmothers age.
  10. I have some older Rocky rubber boots (forget the model) that are 1000 gram insulated that are awesome. Not that loose sloppy flip you get with some rubber boots, quiet, not overly bulky and very warm. They've held up for at least 5 years now too.
  11. I don't own them but I believe the Gunpowder line is their warmest outfit. I doubt it's warm enough to wear on it's own without layers. I have under armour base layers EVO's and the heavier treestand base layers but ultimately I went with Scent Blocker for my exterior layers. The UA stuff just didn't feel like it was heavy enough for those December hunts. You may want to go check it out in person and see how heavy it is instead of buying online.
  12. Well yeah, I'm assuming we're talking a good shooter bear.
  13. I agree the trip is stupid but they're using their campaign cash which is fine because it means they have less to run stupid TV ads. Hopefully it's the last trip for Andy before he goes to prison for this Mooreland Commission deal.
  14. This must be quite a problem in Manhattan that they thought they needed a law on this.
  15. 800 acres of private land in 7R
  16. Yeah that does seem high. My homeowners is only $450 a year.
  17. They would rather help each other as neighbors than rely on government assistance. Can't fault them for that. Work parties are quite common with them. My parents are surrounded by Amish and have grown to become friends with many of them. They aren't bad folks for the most part.
  18. For those of you with no enclosed area outside to store your stuff while not wearing it, what do you do? I hang mine outside my wood shed (I have an outdoor wood boiler) but obviously when it raining my stuff gets wet and when it's windy it ends up on the ground.
  19. No, I made a general comment. It wasn't directed at any forum members specifically. It was more of an observation about the public at large and the media.
  20. That's nice but my anger was directed at the people who believe his passing is a national tragedy yet don't blink an eye when a military member or first responder is killed.
  21. I just did the math. I just turned 30, I get big game, small game, bow, fishing and turkey every year (not including DMPs because you have to buy those even with a lifetime.). A lifetime license for those would cost $1000 to buy today. If I continue to buy annually it's $72 a year. It would take me 13 years to get my moneys worth and that assuming the license costs don't ever increase which you know they will.
  22. I usually drag the deer back close to where the truck is and gut it there but then I just leave. Usually gone by morning.
