  1. It looks like he likes to mix it up a bit. Good luck, he's definitely a nice buck.
  2. I also hope their response is very well thought out, the level of scrutiny that they will be subjected to will be enormous.
  3. The points here were made to help this young man. No one is attacking this kid. Success in life is directly associated with grammar, spelling and vocabulary. To think otherwise is ignorant. If you truly wanted to help this young person you would have a greater interest in telling him the truth than defending a foolish position. Do you want this young man to have more opportunities in his life? As a hunter and a gun owner do you want him to be able to communicate intelligently about issues that are important to us? If you truly had an interest in helping this young person you would emphasize the importance of these things to him. So what is more important? Being straight with this kid or your need to be right? I'm predicting that your need to be right has this kid going under the bus every time.
  4. I think it was a stand up thing to do. Who know's what there motivation was? There are some business's out there that are willing to do what they believe is right in the face of adversity. Maybe ownership or a decision making executive said this is the right thing to do. It shows that we care, that we are sensitive and we are willing to do this out of respect for a community that is mourning and a country that is attempting to come to grips with this most recent tragedy. I believe this will come back to them very positively. It will be seen as respectful.
  5. Yes, who needs to speak well and spell well in an educational environment? (rolling my eye's) Shouldn't we be making young people aware of how they can be more effective in their communication skills so they can articulate an agenda that is important to all of us? (rolling my eye's again)
  6. Wishing you strength and courage and a complete recovery! Very kind of a couple of the guys here to offer you some venison!
  7. Elk, moose, large bear? The scope seems to be mounted high. Will you have to pull your cheek off the stock to center your vision through the scope? I'm sure the muzzle brake makes it a lot more comfortable to shoot. People I know have been recoil sensitive and have had muzzle brakes on their barrels. Have the brakes advanced so they don't increase the blast so much? I wish you good luck with it.
  8. You were suggesting that a person was dumber than they looked in your description to those who were reading your words here, while proceeding to misspell multiple words. In your last post you misspelled the word spelled. I was sincerely trying to help you. In the future I will not do something like this in an open forum. I will do it privately. You made many good points in your conversation with your teacher. Good luck in the class.
  9. Robinson446, when you initiate a conversation about intelligence or the lack of it, do yourself a favor and use the spell check feature on your computer. You discredit yourself before you have made your point when you have spelled numerous words incorrectly. Always, always, always swim with the current when you are attempting to get the best grade you can get. It would take a very big person on the part of a teacher to score well on a debate or topic that a teachers personal views didn't align with. Ask me how well I did on the paper I wrote many years ago in my college ethics class on reverse discrimination.
  10. An eight pointer in Bow A doe in rifle Not the year I had hoped to have. I rifle hunted and muzzleloader hunted very little because I was out west whitetail hunting for 10 days.
  11. I think it is because he thinks everyone is asking him "Whats up ---?"
  12. I am guessing Doc and Burmjohn are Father and son? Am I right?
  13. If I knew where the line was between that's pretty darn funny Scot, and Scot you are banned I would have a blast with this!
  14. I am assuming Doc owns this site as well as being a moderator?
  15. I am in agreement with this. You have to start somewhere and at least giving the appearance that you care and are trying to do something about it is meaningful. There is a lot of room to influence things that can matter.
  16. Here is some sensibility right here!! The guns for cash piece could be difficult and problematic but it is good to be having the conversation.
  17. Hey Biz, I hunt 3a and 3c not exactly a big buck Mecca but I have fared reasonably well. Your welcome anytime. I know you fish a lot I have boats on the Ashokan and Rondout and will have them on two more Catskill mountain reservoirs this spring. Any time you want.
  18. I appreciate your intention Deerthug. We are on the same page.
  19. I don't agree with many here on this topic/ discussion. I knew I wouldn't and I got involved anyway. As different as our opinions may be I would be the first one to lend a hand to anyone here who needed it, the first one to put a guest in my best stand etc. Best Wishes to everyone here for a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year!
  20. Good to maintain a sense of humor Waterweasle. These issues and conversations over the years have me thinking much more about this stuff. Rest assured no paramilitary style weapons are owned by myself.
  21. Not at all apples and oranges. Cultural influences and perceptions often have nothing to do with logic or are so subtle that you cannot quantify their effect. They are cumulative. The appearance of something has everything to do with how it is perceived. That cannot be disputed.
  22. WNY, you continue to miss the point about perception. If I wear camo to work everyday in a business suit world how would I be perceived? I'm the same person, have the same skills etc. would how I was perceived be different? Would my credibility take a hit?
  23. Does the person who asked about what weapons I own still want to know? Or has your interest in demonstrating that I may be a hypocrit fallen by the wayside?
  24. The Patriot Act is fine because it's those foreigners that are going to kill us? But leave our own psychopaths alone?
