  1. It is pretty much the same for me as WNY. If not for my business and Family attachments I would have been out of here a long time ago. As it relates to the site, I appreciate having a place to discuss things that apply to us specifically.
  2. It looks great! You have to be really pleased.
  3. I feel badly for people who have been at it a while and have not experienced success. (provided that it matters to them). I have an uncle that had hunted for many years and never killed a deer. I don't believe my father was successful in the last twenty years of his life. It wasn't important to him though. He was more interested in the hunting camp, than the kill.
  4. It's a good thing that I am eating dinner as I read this!
  5. That really looks great! I have hunted in Idaho for many years(unguided) and have seen a number of wolves out there.
  6. I guess it all depends upon what you are looking for. A range, hunting land, 3D course, Archery Leagues, Trap Leagues, Fishing etc. I belong to one club and have belonged to as many as three in the past. My primary interest is the range.
  7. I saw one yesterday in Ulster County.
  8. There is quite a bit of public land in Sullivan County. Do a search on NY DEP lands.
  9. Excellent! Kimber makes a beautiful rifle! Pretty hard to hit a duck in flight with that I would imagine!
  10. There are quite a few bears in 3A. I saw four while archery hunting this year and I wasn't looking for them. I have friends who shoot bears every year. I shot one a few years ago while bowhunting. Unless it's huge or a very convenient drag I will not likely be shooting another.
  11. You were practically in my back yard. That shop is only about 10 miles from where I live.Hunter is about a half hour ride.
  12. defrazzle is my new best friend! Beautiful property! When are we going fishing?
  13. Enjoyed reading your introduction. I am sure many here can relate to your passion. Wishing you continued success! That sure is a heavy horned beauty!
  14. Ulster County. It's bad this year. I have taken ticks off me three times and off our dogs a few times now.
  15. I am very sorry for you and your families loss! Sounds like he was quite a guy!
  16. I fish them both. The Ashokan is closer but the Rondout is a better fishery in my opinion. At the Rondout there are Lake Trout as well as Browns. I was wondering if any people here fish at either of these reservoirs?
  17. Thanks! I see possibly getting two. An electric one initially and a charcoal one in the future.
  18. Does that burn pretty clean? I have been using Pioneer Powder that is in measured tubes.(sold that way) I bought quite a bit of it a few years ago. (Now it is endorsed by Jim Shockey) It burns quite clean and is easy to clean up after. When I get close to being out I am going to buy it loose and measure it and put it in the used up tubes.
  19. I am definitely looking for simple and fool proof. I am starting to lean toward an Electric one. Have any of you guys done ribs or pork butt's? I wonder if you would slather those things in an electric smoker the same way you would in a charcoal one? I appreciate everyones input!
  20. Thank you! I have been reading up on them and have been going back and forth between ease of use, flavor and expense. The Weber smokers (charcoal) get great reviews. The smaller of their two models is $300 and I would probably prefer to have the larger model at $400. Flavor is supposed to be unbelievable, ease of use is supposed to be quite good but it is not a set it and forget it kind of deal. The electric smokers appeal to me, because they are pretty much a set it and forget it situation. My brother has one that he has never used and I have a friend that has one that he has never used. Maybe I will see if they have an interest in selling to me. I am torn with the models that use charcoal though. It just seems like the flavor would be better.
  21. I want to get in to smoking meat and fish. What smokers does everyone like and why?
  22. Good for her to air that on national television. Maybe she will start a surge of celebrities getting public.
  23. Enough about this stuff, tell me about that great buck in your avatar!
  24. I have repeatedly said that it is not the issues that I disagree with. It is who is advocating for them on our behalf that I really take exception to. If you don't respect someone and they are trying to sell you some thing or influence you what do the vast majority of people do? In my opinion they turn off, they are not listening and not receptive because of who is delivering the message. So how can inroads be made with non hunters when you have a "Ted" like dude delivering the message? The answer is that they can't. So how is he helping us? The answer to that is he is not. You cannot separate the message from who is delivering it and hope to have it be received in a favorable way. Now about that beer! Any time and the first one's on me!
