  1. Hey everyone. I am shooting CX piledriver 20” bolts and I’m using Slick Trick magnum 100 broad heads. I’m getting a lot of inconsistencies between the BH and the field points. Field points are hitting great. BH are all over the map....I’ve finally got 2 bolts with BH that hit POA....the others are either hitting right, or hitting high and right. I’ve swapped BH on other bolts and I’m getting mixed results. Does this sound like a bolt issue? So far after an hour, of messing around, two BH bolts hit POA, and now the field tip bolts are hitting high right, where as before the field tips would hit POA, and the BH would be low left. I’m getting frustrated at this point. What should be my next course of action? Thanks.
  2. I went out for about an hour and a half. Two setups and a lot of walking. Nothing. First time out at all this Fall, so that was worth it.
  3. Thanks Moog....I'll keep an eye on the weather up until an hour or so before I was thinking of heading out...if its still windy, I'll throw in the towel.
  4. Today specifically...I'm thinking of an evening set up, the weather was just ugly and its suppossed to be windy for the evening. I don't predator hunt much, so I'm still learning. Just wondering if its worth going or not due to the weather. Thanks.
  5. Trust me, if you buy one and use it with your climber, you will love it.
  6. https://www.blindedhunting.com/qsafe I use this tree strap for my climber, its super easy to move the strap up as you climb. Worth every penny.
  7. I leave a carabiner attached to my harness strap. With the tree belt tight, the carabiner doesnt move much at all, so no worries about noise.
  8. Perhaps....I'd like to think that the online safety courses drew in alot of new people. Finding open in person class in the past has always been a royal PITA.
  9. Gander here in Cicero is 80% cleaned out....no hand gun ammo, very little rimfire, some oddball rifle calibers, and tons of shotgun target, and bird loads. Havent really checked Walmart or Dicks(last resort)...
  10. Great....I knew 9mm was all but gone, I didnt think deer slugs would be as well.
  11. Not to hijack the thread, but is anyone seeing slugs available at stores? I've checked a few places locally here in CNY and I am finding no slugs. Dried up like alot of the popular calibers?
  12. I spoke with a DEC official by phone recently, and I was told that the app has not yet been updated after they changed the DECALS website. Its on the docket to be done, but they had no timeline as to when it would be up and running again.
  13. I have used various folders and such in the past, all have done the job. Last year I picked up a Morakniv fixed blade off Amazon for like $15. Stainless blade with a bright orange handle so its not easily lost. Two deer later, and its still razor sharp. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005EOJAKI/ref=twister_B07XYNBR7Y?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
  14. No. I was just making a statement. Good luck with the sale.
  15. Good luck with your sale. From what I have seen over the years, used bows hold their value worse than used cars. I'd say your asking price is likely better at the $75 mark. Bow technology of today is so far ahead of older bows, that for your original asking price of $450, you can get into a really nice modern bow. Classified section on ArcheryTalk have 4-5 year old bows for less than that. https://www.archerytalk.com/threads/2016-elite-synergy-29-5”-65.5940946/ https://www.archerytalk.com/threads/rh-bowtech-invasion-cpx.5942214/
  16. Centerpoint* Sniper 370 is a good choice yes. Here is one on Ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Centerpoint-Sniper-Elite-Whisper-370-crossbow-package/164333007139?hash=item264302b123%3Ag%3Ag~EAAOSwM2BfMrIN&LH_BIN=1
  17. I sharpened my fixed blades. I have a small flat jewelers stone. I put black sharpie on the blades, then do an even number of strokes on either side of the blade until there is no more sharpie....test them on a piece of paper, cutting in a downward motion until they slice through the paper without tearing.
  18. I have 3 cameras that don’t really work. They power on and go through the motions but they are spotty at best. Free to whomever wants them for decoys or tinkering. Just pay shipping or I can meet in the Syracuse area.
  19. Does anyone use the NYS Decals Hunt Fish app? Green app icon. It was available the past few years to buy hunting and fishing licenses, as well as being able to report harvests. I had to buy a fishing license recently, on the new DEC Decals site, and all that worked on the computer, but the app doesnt update my information. I deleted the app in order to redownload the most recent version, and it wont download now. I wonder if with the new DEC Decals website the app is no longer supported. Also side note, I was going to purchase the fishing license from Gander Cicero, and they told me the fancy NYS printer is busted and due to the Covids that no one from NYS will come fix it. I'm not surprised by that, but just a heads up.
  20. Aj's is ok. Bust out your wallet though, they're knowledgeable and have top shelf products....but you're going to pay top dollar. I'd recommend going to Legends of the Fall in Tully.
  21. I usually try to get 2 in the freezer per season. I may ask some family/friends if they are interested in some venison, and if so, I will try to get someone else a deer for a full freezer, but aside from that, I don't plan on changing up much.
