  1. I'm in date dependent. Hopefully I can find one. If not itll be me and the Mrs. I might bring a bottle of my world famous mead.
  2. You should take Biz up on his offer. I think he would make a nice wife.
  3. I hope these change back at least Western zone. I liked late late season ducks.
  4. I am officially bowing out. Most any other week would work. I cant duck out early today as I am leaving early Friday to go find a little piggy or big piggy hopefully. Have fun everyone.
  5. I’m ready to get a pig, 4 legged kind, in one week.!! Looks like I’m uploading sideways. Not sure why. These are 100 yards with my NULA, Winchester 140 nossler factory loads 7m 08. These seem to shoot quite well. I think my groupings are good with room for improvement. Comments though are welcome. First six I was shooting at the lower right corner nra emblem. Range master made an announcement after not to do that. Hmmm. Ok not again. Not bad, one looks like I pulled one. Next three were pretty nice grouping. New target, mine. Next three also good. I got two in one hole. (Giggity) Next top of number 8. Put six into that. Shot a few more but my target was so clogged. The mrs gun was sighting in new scope and was pretty much all over. Edit: sighted in for 200 yards so a bit high, but to be expected. Ted
  6. Ok ladies. I’m heading to blue mountain to shoot some loads. Anyone feel like meeting up I’ll be there 1 130 ish. I’ll check this thread and anyone interested I’ll update time. Otherwise hopefully I’ll post some tight groupings. Ted
  7. biz when you leaving grand central? I couldn’t make it much before 6.
  8. Anyone heading up monday from NYC? If so you have room for one?
  9. Awwwwww..... You two make a nice couple.
  10. Ill ask him what the max was. I don't recall 100% if it was 41 or 42. I suspect 41 after reading the comments. He has the book so I cant imagine he loaded 42. For some reason, yes the 140 factory Remingtons FELT more recoil than the 162's I shot. I find it odd but that is what my shoulder was telling me. Ill google around some and look into the 120grain. Thanks for the info. Hopefully this weekend I can get my target after shooting and take some jpegs.
  11. This will be a pig load in a few weeks and then regular whitetail. Very small chance we may try and go for bear. Maybe that is what he is thinking. I mentioned a recipe that Lawdwaz sent me using 120 grain but his opinion is that was light. Thanks for that by the way. Yes I shot them all. 3 shots each. I recall starting at 38. Think we ended at 42. He checked the results. Incredible bad timing my wifes scope failed in the middle of testing. I had to run up and spend time buying a new scope for her before everything closed. I didn't see the targets up close. He said the lighter powder did better. Honestly, for whatever reason, I think the factory Remington 140gr loads shot best so far. I felt some good solid recoil with them though. Not pleasant. Im heading to blue mountain again this weekend with some factory Winchester nossler loads. Grampy, 45grams sounds like a HOT load to me. Only this weekend left to practice. On another note, my buddy took his 243 and shot a nice grouping at 300 yards in the wind and light snow. 3 kill shots and 2 tight. Very impressive. He can shoot.
  12. So.. my hunting buddy been reloading a good while. He worked up a nice load for his 308 and is working on one for my NULA 7m 08. He loaded up162 grain bullets. 38-42 grams vargut. Less powder seemed to shoot better. I thought 162 was a bit heavy.
  13. Well if you were a knitting club or crochet club of all woman old “Ted” Bundy would be up for mingling with all the nice ladies. Oh wait.. maybe a few of you qualify. See what I can do to make it.
  14. Sorry can’t make it that early. Would love to, but... work and traffic. Not happening this time.
  15. Just took a walk. Side walks are slippery! Its freezing rain/sleet shit out there. Not a ton of snow. But that freezing rain continues to come down steady. Stay safe.
  16. Anyone getting hammered with snow? So far NYC area got a tiny bit of snow for an hour or two. Now a mild drizzle of rain. It does look sloppy though.
  17. Plenty cold when shooting! Nice place to shoot though rangemaster was not real chatty. Found out there is no standing and shooting. I hear someone screaming and after the second or third time I figure he’s saying sit down. I’m looking around trying to figure wtf he’s screaming about and realize it’s at me and the mrs. whups. Acceptable groupings at 100 yards with the NULA. Shot a box of Remington core lok 140 through her. Seems I’m either dialed in or these were better rounds than Winchester 139. Either way progress is a good thing. Better groupings than last bunch of times I’ve shot. My hunting buddy is reloading some for me and I’ll have them in two weeks. Two more weekends of practice before hitting Tioga for a boar hunt. After seeing my groupings I’m confident with this new rifle and ready to go. Interesting note. Never shot Remington through this nor the savage axis compact the mrs is shooting. Last weekend with the Winchester’s my shoulder hurt but the mrs was fine. This weekend though with the Remingtons she felt it and I felt it worse . Hoping to buy the new rifle for the mrs today and give her a few weekends to,get dialed in.
  18. Thanks for the info. I hope the weather cooperates tomorrow.
  19. Guys that have been to Blue Mountain range.. You just show up and go or you need reservations? The range I usually go to you need to call ahead and make reservations so I was thinking same here. I tried calling and couldn't get a person. Going tomorrow. Thanks.
  20. Sounds like you were on duty duty. KA THWUMP (someone hitting a drum after a joke)
  21. Only thing that was a bit crazy. I had to push the side mirrors so they didn't scrape something. This was the only white knuckle time I had. Small hamlet in Spain
  22. I cant speak for Italy, but I have rented a car in France and Spain and drove all over. No issues.. I rented, when possible, in small towns that the train could take me to. Then cruise to even smaller out of the way places. I did have to rent in Barcelona, which was a bit nerve racking to think about, but it was fine. I was able to get off the beaten path and it was worth it. This trip sounds great Goose. Only one problem I see. You are going in Oct... Bow season , duck season, goose season!!
  23. I had a mild mini stroke and didn't know it for about 4 years. It took me over a year to come back, mostly. Stroke sounds possible. Hope he gets what he needs to get back on track.
