KUIU Gear
UpStateRedNeck replied to UpStateRedNeck's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
Hasn't been mine so far. Telling you, I'm a big boy, and the XL jacket wasn't bad. Liiiiitle bit snug in the shoulders, but had no issues shooting my bow. Depends on where you're carrying the weight I guess. Attached is a picture my wife surreptitiously took last weekend while I was cutting wood. I'm still on the fence about this stuff. I'll see how it performs Monday. I get the feeling it's as warm is some of my heavier/late mid-season, early late-season gear, but considerably lighter. If that's the case, I'll keep it. And probably gradually do a full gear conversion to their stuff, including a wind / insulation layer, gradually over the course of a couple years. Because.... ouch! -
Sheezus, his necks almost as big as his body.

Not shooting any big and fuzzies this year unless they get overly friendly. Maybe someday when I want a rug for a new cabin....

KUIU Gear
UpStateRedNeck replied to UpStateRedNeck's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
I'm 5'11 and 255 or so, pretty big upper body, and the length was just fine. Ordered XL jacket, little snug in the armpits and shoulders. Ordered my usual size in pants and it fist just like a pair of jeans usually does, good in the legs, and loose in the waist. -
More!

This is all in the past week. First few might be mating behavior? Then a big mama with triplets.

KUIU Gear

Fit on everything is pretty good. Teensy bit snug in the chest/armpits, that was with only a T-shirt on underneath. With a heavy base layer it might get more snug? It's 65 degrees out so, can't really test the warmth. I went out and shot the bow for 30 minutes wearing it to make sure I could move, and it didn't hamper motion at all. I think the stuff is sneaky warm, I noticed I was starting to flush and sweat after 15 or so, even though the gear is pretty light. Probably give it a field test on Monday. Not displeased so far! -
New to this whole plot thing.
UpStateRedNeck replied to Marsala-man's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Looks like you got a pretty good grasp on it! I'm new to it this year too, but starting off smaller. Read GMan's posts, he does some really awesome work on his land, always has good advice. -
Alcove! You're going to have alot of friends! Every time I drive along 143 I look longingly out at that island in the middle of the reservoir and think about what the hunting would be like out there. I live 2 miles from Sycamore golf course.

Welcome! I hunt just into Schoharie County in the town of Broome. Lotta bear!

Oh of course man! I PM'd him saying I'd happily still pay for the shirt. Like I said earlier in this chat, I don't mind the 18$. I've gotten tons of advice and laughs out of this forum that I'm not worried about it. I'm in IT so I know what a pain in the ass admin stuff is.

She's the deer equivalent of the bearded lady
UpStateRedNeck replied to UpStateRedNeck's topic in Deer Hunting
Maybe it travels to Portland to use their non gender specific potties? How many times after you get back from a day off, or a rutcation, do people ask you if you "caught" anything? Nope, didn't catch a thing. Did kill something though! -
My dad told me we missed the frost last Saturday, oats and rye are still going strong. Be interested to see if anybody has been in there this week, won't get a chance to check until Monday most likely. Probably night time only if they are.

You know what the bucks say.... Once you go brindle.....

I keep trying to talk my friends into it, but they'd rather sit in their cookie cutter homes and talk about whatever TV show they're watching. With the amount of work and taxes that we pay, other people should enjoy the land too.

It scored a funny feeling in my pants. Gorgeous.

Dick's sporting goods feels the hurt!
UpStateRedNeck replied to mlammerhirt's topic in General Chit Chat
Yeah I read that article too. Said they've lost hundreds of millions in hunting goods revenue IIRC. Good, backstabbing prick.
