  1. Are you going to do more hunting sitting or more still hunting and walking. I use a red dot scope on my 1100 as I do more walking and still hunting and can pick up the deer a lot faster with the red dot then a scope.
  2. That deer is a beast. Does not look like there is much to deduct from side to side. Those brow tines are long.
  3. Nothing like taking your picture with it and bragging.Like he did not think that would get him caught. This will give hunters another black eye. This really has nothing to due with hunting. This deer was that mans property and live stock, and this kids broke it and killed it and stole it. Kind of like cattle rustling. I don't see how they can charge him with poaching as this was not a wild deer, but a livestock deer.I think a felony theft charges are in line. Would be worse punishment then poaching.
  4. I would say their food source changed and found a safer area to hang in..
  5. On the insurance part. It is not needed unless money is changing hands then it is need. So if you lease land and and monetary changed hands say work or money then you need insurance. That is my understand on that.
  6. A friend on Facebook just posted this deer today. http://heartlandoutdoors.com/index.php/scattershooting/story/illinois_hunter_bags_30_point_doe#.TuDxeODSCBs.facebook
  7. There could be some legal grounds why they could not put out the fire.Say a fireman got hurt trying to put the fire out, they may not be covered by the insurance as there was not legal contract to be there to fight the fire in the first place.. Or maybe the trailers owners would try and sue for some stupid reason.
  8. Ok, I understand the $12,000 total on school taxes but what is the rate per $1000 .As right now are school tax rate is 15.71221 per $1000 . We are near the side as other areas around us run $16-22 per $1000. This would make it easier to compare. If you had a $500,000 house in Seneca County in the South Seneca School your taxes would be would be $7856 a year with no star exemption.
  9. OK, break down the fee that the city was charging works out to $6.25 a month. OK, so one less 6 pack of beer or pack of smokes. You are talking 625 pennies a month, how many people have a dish or a jug with pennies just laying around there house.
  10. NO, that 104 is just the fire department portion on my parcel. If you notice is says Ovid Fire for 103.98. Culver I know volunteer Fire Departments get funding it right here on my tax bill. Here is a breakdown on rental property just for County property taxes Total: 1,133.44 Rate Assessed Tax County Tax 6.243351 78,500.00 490.10 Town Tax 1.450918 78,500.00 113.90 Highway Item I 4.458327 78,500.00 349.98 Ovid-romulus fire 1.324529 78,500.00 103.98 Recycling fee 28.000000 1.00 units 28.00 Ss ambul contract 47.481908 1.00 units 47.48 For a total of $1,133,44 This is just Property Taxes not including school taxes
  11. You still need funds to run a volunteer fire department and volunteers to provide the service. Here is a idea. If the people in TN wanted to have universal fire protection, they should vote to create tax paid fire districts which can either contract with the local community or put together their own fire service with buildings and engines and people (paid and/or volunteer). It works all around the country. People who choose this don't have to remember or decide to pay their subscription fee, they pay with their property taxes and if someone fails to pay their property taxes, they still get protected but the county files a tax lien on the property for unpaid taxes.
  12. In NY we are forced to pay for our fire protection every land owner pays it. In TN they had the option of paying for it and reused to pay $75 a year for this.If they added to the property taxes in TN, the the property owner would have been paying for the service of fire protection.
  13. Ok, all you people that are jumping on people saying to bad they did not pay the $75. Well right here on my County Property taxes I pay for fire protection here is a break down on just 3 of my parcels of properties. This is one reason taxes are less in the south as they do not include the fire protection in your taxes.I pay $250 just for fire protection a year. So $75 looks like a bargain to me.In NY aleast everyone who pays county property taxes pays for fire protection. You don't pay your taxes for 3 years they take you property. Parcel 1 - 104.00 this has a house and garage Parcel 2 - 48.00 - 80 acres of farm land and woods Parcel 3 - 99.00 - 105 acres of farm land woods Do you know that DSS pays for moving truck (U-Hauls) to move familys to new house of apartment that we are already paying for. They also will pay to moce you to another state or to move back to NYS, plus the gas that the truck uses.
  14. It was a city fire dept doing a county fire call, and the city was not paid there $75 fee. I also seen some where if it is live threatening they will do the rescue. OK, I think I see why southern stated may have lower taxes. As it seems the $75 fire fee that you can or can not pay. Where here in NY the fire fees are already figured into your property taxes. I know people that don't have insurance on there homes, and I look at them and tell them they are stupid. Home Owners or rental insurance is money well spent. Here is a quote from the fire victims "Bell and her boyfriend said they were aware of the policy, but thought a fire would never happen to them."
  15. I think they main problem is he was accused of shooting a couple other bucks before this one. The DEC did a investigation but could not prove it. Heard he took the rack and left town (rumor).
  16. I seen a picture over the weekend of a buck taken that also had drop tines. Not sure if it was the same buck or not.
  17. http://biggestwhitet...taken-illegally Just seen this news. Opps meant to say 3 people charged 1 from Avon NY in title. The Illinois Department Of Natural Resources issued a press release yesterday stating they have arrested 3 men after an 11 month investigation in a deer poaching case. 18. That is weird went on the Tioga boar farm site and the show picture of Russian boar hunt pictures from Nov 2011. http://www.tiogaboarhunting.com/pictures.htm
  19. Its still hard to believe one ML roamed all the way from South Dakota over 1500 miles to CT. http://content.usatoday.com/communities/ondeadline/post/2011/07/mountain-lion-killed-in-conn-had-walked-from-south-dakota/1
  20. I think it is just one of the things that goes along with hunting, and everyone might have to face it some days.I was raised around a farm, and remember the days when my grandfather would shot the pigs in the head or take a axe and lop off the head of a chicken. So that may be why some people its not that big of deal too. How many people have had to kill a turkey after you shot it and it was flopping around?
  21. There was just a accident a few days ago in Seneca County when a Amish Horse and Buggy ran a stop sign. I have seen the Amish go up a one way road the wrong way, there was 5 buggies in a row racing. I wonder what or if they have any insurance if they hit you. The Amish are causing the price of farm land in my area to skyrocket.
  22. I have done it a few times over the years and been with people that have done it.Every hunting trip out is different and every deer wounded deer is acts different too.
  23. The deer have not been moving as much as normal. I have a 40 aces corn field right next to my land, and sat for a couple days never seen a deer. So I walked to corn field and everytime I have kicked deer out and shot a doe. Those deer just run a row or to ahead on me till I hit the edge then they, stop about 10 rows from the edge. Missed a nice buck he other day same thing.
  24. Well they aged the deer at 2 1/2 years old. Centerpunch our friend shot that deer out of one of Kurts stands ! Out buddy who shot this is having a great year, he just called just shot a white spike.
  25. I already posted his name. It is Matt Nash and he is from Slatterville, NY which is outside of Ithaca like 10 miles or so.
