Gun shots at first light opening day of bow season sz
HectorBuckBuster replied to Dutchess hunter's topic in Bow Hunting
Goose season also is open. -
Well I am watching it rain right now outside my window I see it really knocking the leaves off the trees. Rain,Sleet or snow I will be in my tree stand. On the plus side the ground will be soaked so walking will be quiet. I have seen some monster bucks moving on crappy days. Just hope one walks near me tomorrow morning. It may even be a great day to do some still hunting. I will see what tomorrow brings and go from there.

Need help planning my hunting trip in NY
HectorBuckBuster replied to Rejectbaby's topic in Introductions
Yea, but a lot of people plan there hunting trips with guides a year or more in advance. -
All the big open fields say between 1 and 14 what are they just hay or just over grown grass? That would make a huge difference where I hunt as to whats in those fields. I really like area 1 as that is a nice funnel to a food source.

Need help planning my hunting trip in NY

Wow to fish or hunt in NY you will need a hunting license, unless you hunt on a hunting preserve (but this also depends on what you are hunting). I believe no matter where you fish you will need a license. Its getting pretty late to try and get a hunting tripped booked. -
Nice buck, good luck with him. I see he likes coming out after dark though

Thanks CenterPunch, I pretty sure that monster from the government made it and is alive.Seen a monster in that area in early June and he was huge then. The 4 picture down, I swear it looks like the buck may have a bunch of white patches on him. As that is the only deer on camera that looks like that. I though maybe a winter coat already but don't thin it is.

Well pulled my cards this weekend. Got a couple bucks again, also got a ghost looking picture of what appears to be a very nice buck, but appears we never slowed down and the ghost picture of his rack blurred is all I got.

4 Bucks in one picture
HectorBuckBuster replied to HectorBuckBuster's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
I put that camera out on Labor day and switched cards yesterday as my buddy was over cutting wood on my property so figured it would not bother them too much. -
I put a cam up on a trail crossing a little ditch about 50 yards from my tree stand.I went and pulled the card today and this is what I got. No monsters but the bucks around is awesome.

a good and affordable cam?
HectorBuckBuster replied to brklynhunter's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
I started out with a cheaper priced camera and after the first year, I knew I needed to upgrade. It really depends on how much scouting you are doing to do with it. I have a total of 5 camera's and can tell you, batteries get expensive between C and D . Looking at buy a bunch of rechargeable batteries in the near future.I have a couple Moultrie and Stealth cams. I really like the Infer Red on the Stealth cams versus the flash on the Moultie. -
Here is another picture of Gander Mountain.

Biggest you have seen or harvested?
HectorBuckBuster replied to Forest Hunter's topic in General Hunting
I have taken a couple deer that weighed over 180 pounds dressed. I shot a 6 point that weighted 185 lbs dressed on opening day of bow season on year. I had a buddy shoot a buck during bow season that weighed 249 pounds dressed on certified scales. -
Well I slacked off this year and just got time to put my camera's out Monday 9/5/11 in the pouring rain. I went today and pulled the card from one as the apple tree has been hit hard and many branches are broken. I moved the camera to a different angle this year, and seems to be getting hit hard by the sun in the evening. So the first couple of pictures I had to do some lighting up with photo shop.

Are we being Scammed with Ethanol ?
HectorBuckBuster replied to fasteddie's topic in General Chit Chat
The gas company that blends the Ethanol in the gas get a federal tax credit of around 46 cents per gallon. So you wonder why they like adding it to gas. I don't have a problem with using some ethanol even though it gets worse gas mileage, but ethanol can be made out of other stuff that we do not use for food. If something is used for food it should not be used to make fuel. -
I believe Mitch had a falling out with B & C , as he does not agree with the way the score. I read that a few years ago. I also remember reading something about Mitch does or did have a state record in Missouri or some other state around there.

There are other things in Auburn besides BPS. I needed some stuff at Home Depot and dropped the wife off at Kohls and then went to Buffalo Wild Wings.
-
What I hate about BPS in Auburn you get there flyer and they have a special on this day. Well some people have to work and can't get there when they open. I make a special trip about a hour one way from the house after I get done with work. Go to the archery department looking for the stealth cams they had advertised and, the guy says says in a rude way they where gone when we opened, so I ask are the giving rain checks or a substituting another model and he says those are gone too. So I went to the gun department and they did have the gun I wanted so I did buy that. The gun had a rebate so when doing the rebate I noticed a survey on the receipt so I filled it out and I was honest, and said gave them a terrible service. I received a phone call with in the hour from the archery manager. I explained everything he said he was sorry and also said he would have the Stealth Cams that I wanted in with in a week for me. Sure enough the following week they called and I went and picked them up. So thoses surveys do pay off.

Gas in Tompkins, Seneca, and Schuyler runs from $3.69 to $3.71 as of today
-
I seen 2 Robins in the yard just this morning hopping around.
-
What really makes me mad is oil goes up to $105 a barrel in a day, the price of gas jumps at the pump that day, oil goes down a couple dollars in a day, you don't see it at the pump for weeks or months and sometimes you never see it.

Biggest typical buck shot in US in 39 yrs
HectorBuckBuster replied to erussell's topic in Hunting Related Pictures
Holy crap. Awesome buck -
The idea not to buy from a certain company will never work. Most gas is produced by a few companies and then transferred through the pipeline's. Ever watch a fuel delivery at gas stations over time you will notice the same gas trucks are delivering gas to every gas station with the same truck.
