I could not hunt tonight and in the field across the road where I hunt was a herd of 8-10 deer about 30 yards from the road just eating. Was tough to get a good count as it was pretty dark and I could just see the dark spots on the green wheat field.

You need to located what food source they are using right now. I would say the food source has changed from when you where getting pictures. I have noticed the last few nights I have been out hunting in this heavy wind, the deer where not getting to me till dark.

I have noticed this year the farmers are getting the beans harvested and are planting wheat,rye or other grains. I think they are doing this since the price of corn is so low, they are switching to different grains.The farmer that rents my land plowed under 1 hay field, and 3 beans fields are all planted with wheat or rye. This is the most fall planting I have seen him do ever.

There is a Iphone App called Hunt Stand that you can mark stands, trails, runs, and everything else. It gives you wind direction and where you scent will got, it also has a yard marking with it.

I just use my Iphone and the hunting apps they have out for free.

Also remember the fine for hunting over bait in NY is a misdemeanor, accompanied by a $2,000 fine and license revocation.I am not taking a chance at my hunt privileges because of someone else.

Still he now knows about it, so they (DEC) could state he was hunting over bait.

Call the DEC because if they already know about it and you hunt that area, you may get charged for baiting
