Snows tend not to go back to the same field day after day , and having a spread of a couple hundred might get their attention.

I notice that is a cedar tree. Several years ago, I had a stand that was on the edge of a field, in the field was one very large cedar tree I am talking 20 inches across, I watched a little 4 point just go to town on that tree rubbing it. It was not shredded like that though.

I was hunting on private property and had DEC come up to me, saying they where investigating a reported shooting with a rifle from the road (this was before rifles where legal). He was wearing all green too. Also seen the DEC drive right out through the driveway in the vineyards before to check licenses.The DEC can pretty much get away with anything. The DEC officers have more authority then State Police.

Sounds like this guy just hunts alot. He is from one of the top area's in the US for whitetail's. There are picture's where he took two 180's class bucks last year, one with bow one with muzzle loader.

A FUDD is Slang term for a "casual" gun owner; eg; a person who typically only owns guns for hunting or shotgun sports and does not truly believe in the true premise of the second amendment. These people also generally treat owners/users of so called "non sporting" firearms like handguns or semiautomatic rifles with unwarranted scorn or contempt.

I have seen bucks the last two mornings, they are in the seeking mode in my area. Say a above average buck this morning at around 9am just out of range.

I have started to see more bucks moving in 8S.

Biz, you say the Safe Act does not effect you will learn a hard lesson.You sir is what is called a FUDD. Its BS if my friend wants to sell me a gun, to someone he has known his whole life, we have to go do a back ground check. I can not own a Ruger 10/22 with a thumb hole stock, because that is considered a assault weapon, and would have to be registered in nY because of the Safe Act. And if I owned this weapon and died, it would have to be sold out of state or turned in and could not be passed down to my daughter. Yes, a 22 is considered a assault weapon.

My dad used to goto NYC every weekend for the last 35 years until last year doing farmers markets. He started to see the people that where protesting fracking in our area's down in the City handing out pamlets against fracking. It does not take much to sway the NYC folks saying that in NY allows fracking its going to ruin NYC drinking water as that comes from the Catskills. Its all about showman ship now days. Like Cuomo slamming his fist yelling you don't need 10 bullets to kill a deer. The uninformed in they City agree with him, if they knew anything they would realize that in NY you can only have 5 bullets in your gun to hunt deer. Just look at some of the grants that The Park foundation in Ithaca gives away to the following groups who are against fracking, one in NYC and one in VT to on Anti-Fracking in NY. I found these with just a quick scan of the grants they awarded. It all comes down to fracking. Astorino was for it, and Cuomo is on the fence and has delayed it. I am in Tompkins County almost every day, and the no fracking signs is unreal, and now they are moving to Schyuler County and protesting a LP Gas storage facility in the salt mines in Watkins Glen. You have this group of Anti Frackers that have big money donors behind them (Parks Foundation), and preach their beliefs on the Collage students in Ithaca, and most of them are from downstate so they go back and tell of the horror story's they hear. I believe this election was lost because of the fracking issue. If you drive Rt 414 to Watkins Glen all you see is these Anti LP Gas signs. It makes the area look like there is something wrong with the area. .

I was reading on another forum the turn out in Long Island is very high. Lots of people complaining about all the new speed trap camera's that Cuomo has installed. What burns my ass is Cuomo already made a annoucment about making his re-election speak is schedule for 9pm tonight. Must be he stuffed the ballot box.

They DEC must have fixed the system as I got 8J DMP tags today, and so did my wife, and daughter.

OK, yesterday I could not get any 8J tags they where not listed. Was at Dicks and they had alot of units posted. I got 2 - 8J tag's, so did my wife, and daughter.

8J closed, DEC lied about unit opened until the end of business day !

Nice buck. I would say 115 range rough score, but finally score is going to get hurt, see alot of different between the points on both sides,and It appear the right antler is alot shorter then the left side.

They found these two dead bucks in a Culvert pipe/storm drain on Rt 14 in Watkins Near the Cemetery. They figure they died some wheres else up the hill and got washed down the hill during a heavy rain.

Take the tires off it (and take them with you)and use a lock. Remember anything can be stolen if they want it bad enough. Just make it a pain in the ass, and they won't mess with it.Also maybe don't leave gas in it.
