SUNDAY YOTES WITH HOUNDS
martin replied to nycoyotehounds..BUB's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
I've hunted penneville before. I'm trying to remember the town south of fulton like 2 towns over I've hunted. My friend said that no one hunts it,so my uncle and I went and let the dogs go. We spotted 6 coons in seperate trees around the neighbors. We just walked up to them. We got a few more that night to in a different spot. We traveled a lot but mostly hunted in mexico and palermo. I miss it. -

In a way yes. There is a light out their that has a 2 filters and you can use just the white light. Go to barkatthemoon.com coyote club and you will see it. You need to also watch your smell of your body and your clothes. once you get it down, hunting is a blast.

martin replied to WhiteTailBuckDeer's topic in General Chit Chat
I like to eat eggs no matter what time I go out. It the protein that keeps me full. Then i will bring a protein bar and always lots of water and apples. -

I've hunted there a few times and don't see a lot of birds. I put up a few by fawn lake and some off of high rd. If you get over by bradt hollow rd they released pheasants this year. maybe their are some left. Don't spend time over by kingsfisher rd, i hunted deer and didn't see any birds. Good luck and be safe. Let me know were you went and how you did.

My plan this week is to get out in dutchess cty and do a lot of yote hunting. I plan on baiting some and if your out I have no problem telling your were I baited so you can hit the bait pile as well. With the snow melting, it makes my hunt easier with my truck. BKLN I have called in yotes up there, just haven't got one yet. Yes I hunt with a .22 in putnam cty, But also hunt with a shotgun when need be...Hope to c u all out there....Marty

Coyote is a dog RIGHT, Dog food works great. Put a little gravy over it,mix in a little chicken and WALLA coyote bait is set. you can also go to the store and maybe get scraps. When their hungry they will eat. Place bait stratigically so you have 2 entry points if possible. Good luck and Whack'em good.

Yote hunting regulation question?
martin replied to wooly's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
You need to also check the rules for your local county. Some are different than others. Its best to call DEC and ask. Some counties allow rifle and some do not. During deer season its can be different as well. Good luck and go WHACK "EM -
I hunted partridge run today. It was a nice day to hunt, but tough because not a lot of people pushing. I walked slow and only saw 3 sets of prints. They had 3-4 in. of fluffy snow to. I did get a lot of exercise..

Hey crowkiller, I love crow hunting now. I've been trying since I was a kid and my uncle laughed at me all those years. I see why there hard to hunt. I am getting into it now. It's only been the last 2 years that I am getting serious. I am just building up my decoys. I need more because I have only 4 of them. I due go with a friend that has some as well. I use my homemade caller and a hand caller. When I use my crow in distress, man they come in bunches, like 25 at a time and fly all over the place. Its really fun to hunt them and I hope they open it up everyday during the season. I can't get enough of it. I belong to a site and learn from there as well as just going out and watching. I have a roost by my house so it helps. What a site watching 10,000 birds flying in. Crow hunting should be year round anyways.. Just my opinion.. Take care and good luck...Marty

Doc, Well put. Thank you. Coyotes are at the top of the food change...Unless we introduce wolves into the area. Then the coyotes will be one step below and then all the deer will be gone. As you say, lets not get all bent out of shape. Keep the comments rolling...

I hunt them because they are tough to get for some of us. Coyotes are called varments for a reason. If you have a dog like I did at one time, They will eat anything and rub around in the worst stuff they can find. Not a good comparision, but u get the idea. Hunt them and hunt them hard because they will never go away and will give no excuses when killing your personal animals or attacking a human. If you get one, have a local trapper on stand by and let him have it. It will help his family out and you might start up a new friendship. Besides,if you need to get away from your woman, what better excuse than, Honey, gotta go get those coyotes at the farm. Just don't come back drunk or she'll start to catch on ))) Happy hunting

I am already a member. Thanks. i will have to find womeone in dutchess county that wants my fur. That is if I get any this year.
-
Hey mr. nycoyotehounds, thanks for your input. its good to hear there are still alot of trappers. I personnally have enjoyed trapping in my younger years and learned many things out there. If I had the time, I would love to get back into it. It stinks trying to balance work, girlfriend and outdoors playing in the woods. Marty

I would check a trapping site or a fur buyer site and see who would be interested. Good luck because there are not many more trappers left. I love it as a kid.

coyote impack on small game
martin replied to sweet old bill's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
Yes you can kill a coyote and a deer with a .22. CCL's are the best. Get the varment kind and they will kill most anything. I like .22's because they are more quiet and I don't like to be noticed at night shooting a shotgun. I would if I have to. I cannot wiat till after next weekend so I can get back out there with my .22... -
Glad to see you got your new york city permit. Don't worry about having funds for coyote hunting. You can hunt them with a shot gun as well and I have calls and scents. I'm not interested in going to west point. Will not feel comfy, but I will look at places closer to you. Once deer season is over it makes it much easier to hunt. I'll start looking and get back to you..Later

Hey biggamefish, I was driving on 87 yesterday by albany and saw a ton of crows. It looks like they roost between albany and schendanty. We need to start blasting them.
-
I hunt several pieces of state land not far off the taconic parkway. If you have a new york city permit, there are several pieces of land we can hunt in putnam county. The tag is free and it takes a few weeks to get. We can hunt stewart after deer season for coyotes. Not sure on squirrels though. we can also hunt off pudding street. Its kinda far for dutchess for you to hunt unless we make a day and do some night hunting as well.. Let me know what you want to do and we can go from there.
-
Sometimes going out and not seeing anything is normal. PM me with your number and we will go out squirrel hunting by my. I live in dutchess county. There are lots of them here. I also coyote hunt as well. Let me know when the best to call is....Marty
