Best Places to Small Game
martin replied to ItalianHunter5's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
tug area and surroundings are the best for partridge. I put up a few walking around their last year. Its a drive, but spend the night in a bed and breakfast and go 2 days. Can also hit the open fields for rabbit. May also want to try partridge run in berne county. I always put up birds. I'm sure their are rabbits their to. -
I agree with G-Man. Pex pie is the way to go. Hide it some how if you can. Not worth leaving anything. I also like the idea of plywood on the windows. May leave a false message that your not there. Theives also go to sullivan county knowing they are only summer residents and take their copper as well. Maybe leave something that is bright and cheap and only you would know its yours. Then keep an eye out for this item in town. Maybe check the local flea market to see if it arrives. Lots of work, but may be worth it.Good Luck.

If you can...Listen for automobiles as well. Look at a map on-line and plan your trip. Start slow and pick a small section and learn it. Then continue on to another section. Bring something to cut branches or other things out their. Make a path and stick to it. Tie orange markers on branches to help you get in and out all the time. Leave notes on them witha sharpy. Hope this helps. Walked many swamps in Oswego county. They are fun but have been swimming not to my liking. Good luck and keep us posted.

Love the show. Its funny and entertaining. Doc is right...the deer are out of control in that area and need to be thinned out. Its very hard to hunt in CT as well as get permission. Those guys not only get deer, they give some meat away as well. Enjoy it for whats is worth or flick the next channel button....

no. Haven't been out in a while.

Its worth the trip to hunt with these guys if they offer. I've hunted racoons in those neck of the woods. Its totally awesome up their. I miss living in the area. When I visit, I plan on doing something in the woods during hunting season. Plan on doing other things up their as well. never a dull moment. Keep up the good hunting.

I've hunted snow geese in Ellesville, north of pulaski. They are there by the 10k. Its an amazing sight to see them in such numbers. It is tough hunting up there, getting permission is hard. They fly from the fields to lake ontario. If you go, its best to have a map and just drive around and keep your head in the sky. Good luck

Herring is good. Bunker oil smells nastier though. Use trout, wet cat food, wet dog food, of course dog food, top it off with suet as a garnish.

First round of baiting didn't go to well. Wanted to due some this cold snap but didn't have time to go out. Next cold snap I will. I'm looking for bunker oil.Know of anyone having any in stock? Been quiet the last few times out. Looking to due an all nighter soon.

Grouse Hunting Rattlesnake Hill or other WMA's
martin replied to genesee_mohican's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
If you have time and money to spend the night, go up north to tug hill or sears pond and hunt away. I wouldn't go now due to the snow. I was putting them up all day. Was deer hunting at the time though. Lots of land to cover and you can also coyote hunt at night. Good luck finding anything. -
Bird hunting club southern N.Y
martin replied to Scotte303's topic in NY Clubs and Organizations Discussions
The club in Clove valley stocks pheasaints for its members. Not sure of the clubs name or information. -
Nice set up Elmo. I just go a fox pro SpitFire. You need to come out and try it. My friend just went out and was Almost attacked by a few yotes circling him. Ran out with his tail between his legs. I say lets go get them.

Happy birthday from a Fultonian to a Volney neighbor.

Another hunter told me that the immigrants cut the snoot off his dead coyotes. Canot remember why, but that is probable who done these. Just a FYI

crappyice, you can hunt dogs anytime of day. They are most active at dusk and dawn it seems like.I personally like night time because all hunters and dog walkers are home. %pm is fine. The dogs are just starting to really move now and going to their favorite places...

mouth calls, e-callers, girlfriends running around with bait in there hands...lol
-
its almost time to start baiting. waiting till after deer season. shawnu going out soon but may not be out late. depends on the weather. with deer season going on, like to be home early for the deer hunters.

Anyone going out yote hunting tonight?
-
UNBELIEVABLE...Doesn't surprise me at all. Pheasant hunting is just as bad as deer huntning is. I went out yesterday to do some Crow hunting, but due to all the bow hunters, decided not to hunt. I could of hunted, but with a lot of vehicles in the area, was not worth it. I to laugh at the bird hunters with their whistles and hollering, here boy, here boy. Thats why I like yote hunting. You go at night when everybody is sleeping. You did the right thing by leaving. As much as you wanted to do something, it's not worth it in the end.

Well put. Sure is frustrating being a hunter these days.

My hunt went well, even though I didn't see anything. Thank god I hag a garmin with service. I had to use it to get out of the woods. I did have a little panic attack but calmed down very quickly. There are so many ponds up their, its pretty awesome. I like walking and hunting by the ponds because that's were the deer are and partridge as well. Aaron, I hope you do your homework before you go. Take everybody's advice, be prepared. No gps, no way i would walk as much as I did. Your better off sitting not far from the truck. Also their is no phone service as well. Good luck. May want to stay home with the rain and wait another week..Let us know how you did.

Went out today and didn't see nothing but saw lots of signs. Hunted, searspond state forest in 2 spots then another piese off of liberty rd. Not sure of the name right now. Put up a ton of partridge. I also hunted close to ponds and swamps. Best bet is to get in woods by 5am and set-up off of a pond or swamp and hope deer come your way.

I changed my plans. I am going to sear's pondstate forest. Will also try other area's. Kinda winging it as well. Taking off now. Later.
