  1. yes. grouse are around the lakes, ponds and in the woods. Not sure of the fields. They due stock pheasant in the fields. well worth the trip.
  2. I will have to check my pictures. I was at the museum in july. Awesome place to visit. I am sure its there.
  3. I saw that mobil open. Not surprising not having anything. Mobiles are going up fast. New one outside dover on 22 going up. To many gas stations in my opinion. Welcome to the site. Duck hunting is fun. Did it a lot. The worse the weather, better the hunting. Ever go puddle jumping?
  4. Hard hunting areas. Look at Partridge run in Berne county. Hunted there many times and put birds up there as well. PM me if you need help. May be a little closer to
  5. Good valid point. Since I work in a hospital environment, I take calls. When I am on vacation or hunting, I let my bosses know if I'll have phone service. I don't get called a lot. Anything can happen at work. Would rather fix it over a phone call rather than go in for several hours and regret it. Weekends are a norm. I get a lot of stuff done that I cannot do during the week. I do get 3 day weekends after working a weekend. That's a plus. Just my $.02
  6. I hunt them with my truck. They are all over the preserve by me. Just kidding with the truck. If they are in the road, wham!!! thank you mam for dinner. They are around all winter long to.
  7. As Predate said: Crow season will also open on 9/1. I'd probably go whack crows before I would squirrels (more challenging) and besides, squirrels keep the adrenaline flowing during deer season! Agree with the crow hunting. Already been out a few times. Rather Crow and Coyote hunt. Never was into Deer hunting. Go out and try. Just me though.
  8. Hunting deer in Northern tier is great. The season starts early and there is a ton of acreage. The only problem is when snow season arrives early. Soething to look into. Yes you'll have to get lodging. Their are a ton of bed & breakfast places around. Good luck
  9. I went to the grand opening of Gander mtn in Binghamton just last month. They had over 100k of .22's in stock. It was unbelievable how many they had. The store was also loaded with ammo. I wonder how its doing now. Any updates would be good. I did get 500 rounds. I am good on .22.
  10. Hey machinist, my uncle use to take us to farms all over Oswego county to shoot Pigeons from silo's. Some farmers he knew and some we would just stop and ask. That's a blast.
  11. I agree with time will tell. It's better to let them have a crack on this and see if they can control it. Not sure why they aren't using more trappers to assist in this problem. I think the more the better.
  12. Slow in dutchess. Water table is high and streams are flowing fast.
  13. Been there many times. I do not hunt turkey. Sorry. I wish I could help you were the turkey are. Never really seen any not to say they are not there. Good luck and let me know how you did.
  14. I'd go back to home to Oswego county were I grew up. I'd like 1000 acres or so and hunt crow and coyote. I'll save a spot for you deer hunters. Also have a farmer plant corn for the geese and for the crows to eat. Need that organic mulch farm as well. I like being around my cousins and uncles when I go hunting. We always have a lot of fun. Its not just about the land, but who you spend time with.
  15. I use 7 just to be safe. After I shoot those, I run : )
  16. Awesome pics. I would print those and put them on my walls innice frames.
  17. Cherry plain is small and a waste of time. Went their to scout out once. Partridge is good and capital. not sure of other ones.
  18. Their are maps on line that you can print out. Make sure you take a few print outs with good pens. I always take notes when I can. I did get to know the whole area really well. This is the best advice I can give you.
  19. Go to deposit lots of times. Not to hunt, but know people that hunt it. It is big. Deer and bears their. Good luck. Not sure of any small game their.
  20. That is why northern zone is the place to hunt. Its 27/7 Rifle for deer and coyote. No confusion. Just when Hounds77 run his dogs.
  21. Been hunting there. No secret spots. Walk the edges of the ponds first. I've flushed many by Fawn pond. Awesome place to hunt.
  22. is waterfowling fun in the split season after christmas? yup but this is the season that separates the men from the boys! single digit temps with 20 mph wind driven snow is when the fun really begins! THIS IS THE BEST TIME TO GO. THE WORSE THE WEATHER IS, THE BETTER THE HUNTING. Get a good pair of neoprene waders, they are not cheap but they will keep you warm and you will float with them on. stay away from the old style rubber waders, and even some of the canvas waders those fill with water and you don't float. THIS CANNOT BE STRESSED ENOUGH. NEOPREME ALL THE WAY. GET PATCHING MATERIAL FOR HOLES AS WELL. I'VE DONE DUCK HUNTING BEFORE. IT IS COLD AND EXPENSIVE, BUT CAN BE FUN. OH, GET A WARM PAIR OF GLOVES, MAYBE A FEW PAIR. GOOD LUCK. GREAT ADVICE REELTIME
  23. GPS? Good luck when it works. Pack a Compass with instructions. Mine worked when it felt like it. Good luck and keep to a tight area.
  24. SteveC, on 20 Oct 2013 - 1:13 PM, said: I have this stuff and I also swear by it. I still check myself. I have been testing it on Stink bugs and soon to be Cricket spiders.
  25. Looking for some area to go crow hunting in the aurburn area. Do not see much for state land. Any help is good. Thanks
