Ridge rd (Stewart) would be a good spot. Can also park on the over pass. Will need to do this early am due to all the walkers and the hikers. Lets wait till it gets warmer out and maybe the fish are biting. Some people may want to fish after. Late April early May when the stripers are running? Just a thought. Any other ideas out there. Were is Sweet old bill?

The Mute swans that land on our pond every yr are pigs. They also kill baby Ducks here as well. I tried to save them last yr but to no avail. I'd rather have ducks than those bastards. I am done with them.

"Never ask a podiatrist for a conversion in metric. They only know feet."

Poured some liquid salt on the ice block on the roof. Hammered some off, but not all. More to go. Raked some snow off roof last night. Having chicken dinner with stuffing and baked squash. Movie tonight and resting tomorrow due to day off. We cancelled crow hunting due to winds and wind chill. Coyote hunting is slim pickings right now.

Nice article. They still due destructive damage to the farming industry. They roost by the thousands. They are smart birds. I still hunt them to help the farmers save money. I can say they spread diseases to, but most wild animals have that trait.

Enjoying the crow hunting. Going out this weekend again. Also going to start coyote hunting a lot more till the end of season. Been way to lazy to get out coyote hunting. I've seen pheasant roaming the roads by me but no takers want to fly in front of me.

Decoys, electric callers and I also due mouth calls. Set 1 - 2 decoys in tree's or bushes as high as you can go. Place other ones on ground. He is the biggy, go to McDonald's and get a few fries and throw the fries out but keep the container. Throw them next to the decoy's. You can also use hamburger wrappers. I like to be silent when they come in. If there away, then I turn on the caller. Do not worry about the scout. I like to hide in tree lines and find shooting lanes. They cannot see u as well. Ur only going to get a shot or 2 off anyways. Might as well enjoy it. One last item, watch the skies around 3:30-4pm and see which way they are flying to there roost. They will most likely fly the same way to there eating grounds. Take your time shooting, try not to educate them to much. Good luck and keep me posted.

Pretty good day crow hunting. Got 4 for sure's and 3 wounded. They went down in woods. Tried to find them to no avail. Hit a nice mother load of Flyways today. Sometimes there were to many at once. I could of shot more but wanted to be careful and take a good shot. Also got surprised a few times when I wasn't paying attention.

We have mute swans on our pond. Every year they kill the baby ducks. I try to save them, but they are just way to aggressive. Cannot do anything do fix it to. Live around other people.

Good post woodcock. I like to hunt in the adirondacks for grouse. They seem to be plentiful. It is the quality of the hunt. Traveling a little further is just fine with me. I stay at my sisters and drive from there. There is a lot of opportunities to hunt in ny. When I hunt a large parcel like tug hill, adirondacks, I due my homework and study the area. I always prepare and have a map and pencil/pen to take notes. I to avoid stocked areas until the weekdays. As brooklyn said, deer hunting on state land is like commiting suicide. I like hunting northern tier. No one goes and its rifle.

Good idea on joining local chapters. Thanks for the advice.

Just driving your car in the ADK with snow is a challenge. I had to turn around and hunt a little farther south last yr. A lot of dirt roads with ice or never being plowed. Rough terrain as well. Take compass and a couple PB&J sandwiches.
