  10. I always and have been using for years my Winchester Apex Magnum ML. Stuffed with 250 grain shockwaves and 100 grains of 777. Since daughter is going with tomorrow and toting her 870 youth 20 with Federal sabots and has never pulled the trigger on a deer I'll be toting my 870 in case I need to anchor one for her. Mine will be stuffed with 3" Lightfields. Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 Magnum on the hip as well. If or should I say when she gets on a deer I'll get on the same one. She shoots and I'll immediately touch one off too. Don't want her first deer to get lost although she's an awesome shot and we've been practicing a lot. I probably won't need to but I'll be on it if need be. Sunday will be solo and with the winds whipping I'll skip my ladder stand and hit our blind again. ML and .44 this time
  11. Only thing I'll break silence for during deer gun season is a coyote. I'll just admire all the rest
  12. Nodeerhere, you now need to change your forum name. He's a beauty. Congrats
  13. The corner of our blind looks like this
  14. Good luck everyone on the last day of archery. Today is 2 year anniversary of Snowvember in WNY Little different this year
  15. Yes , lots of orange Be careful if you happen to be walking thru thick stuff. Private land or not , never assume you're the only one out there and your safe Please wear safety harnesses while climbing Those early shots when it's still dark make me chuckle. All I can think of is "Billy Bob is removing his loaded gun from behind the seat and accidentally takes out his dashboard ". Be safe and looking forward to reading your " live from the woods" posts. And don't forget your TP
  16. Best buck I ever shot was on 70 acres of private land. However I had never been on this property before and no idea what it was like. Found major trails in the snow around apple trees. Plunked myself down and within an hour touched one off with the smoke pole. Dragging the deer out was fun as I had no idea of the lay of the land especially in the dark. And I ended up 2 hours late to my wife's Christmas party , oops
  17. It sucked trying to get a deer on top of old Subaru by myself. I'd stand in rear door frame and look like something out of a horror film all bloody and such after finally getting it up there. This was a great decision 2" receiver hitch and deer carrier
  18. Hunting in China ? If using iPhone , take pic sideways and then post. It comes out normal. Or use Tapatalk and post normal
  19. Another vote for Mucks. Rubber boots is all I wear. One pair of non insulated Lacrosse I've had forever for spring turkey and a pair of insulated Mucks for deer hunting.
  20. Funny you mention this. I sprayed the crud out of my daughters and my gear 2 days ago. Was just in our cold storage a few minutes ago smelling gear. Can't smell a thing. It goes on with a stronger smell you'd think would hang around but indeed is odorless now.
  21. Obvious answer is no deer is worth the reprocussion of getting caught. Strong first post. Welcome to the boards
  22. Private land. 70 acres. A ground blind we built 2 summers ago so daughter could tag along a day or 2 last year. This year she's hunting as well. It's 40 yards above a series of 2 trails the deer meander thru hardwoods where they have the best cover . They typically browse along the way. Cam has been up covering these 2 trails since August and have had the best deer on it . My ladder stand is about 40 yards on the other side of the cam but I blow right at these 2 trails and have known for years I was missing out on deer behind me. Not any more. I also will be hunting the blind solo on Sunday. She's not going to be too particular on a buck with only 3 days available to hunt and 1 for ML season. Really hoping the nice wide 8 or big 10 come by for her. But forks, spikes are also fair game. I've never killed a deer like either of these and I ideally I want her to get one of them. We may get some pressure from one side a half mile or so off which may not be a bad thing. After not seeing a thing for youth hunt this opening day has been well anticipated.
