  1. Last year, while sighting in my TC Omega 50 cal., the gun shot great at 100 yards. After about 6 or 8 shots, i moved to 200 yards and couldn't even get the gun on paper. I gave the gun a thorough cleaning, assuming that the dropoff was due to fouling. I brought the gun to the range this weekend and had a similar experience. Took two shots at 100, shot great. Moved to 200. The first 2 shots at 200 were pretty good. The next two shots dropped about 12". I ran a moist patch through the barrel after every shot. Brought the gun home and gave it another thorough cleaning. Will bring it to the range again and start at 200. Has anyone had similar experiences? I wouldn't expect the gun to get so fouled up after just a few shots that it would affect accuracy so much. I'm using Triple Seven powder pellets, 2 per shot with Shock Wave spire point 250 bullets.
  2. What about Northern Farmhouse Pasta in Roscoe? From the website, it looks great.
  3. Mods, the above post should probably be moved to the Political Humor section. Grouse, you're unintentionally hilarious. Your lack of self-awareness knows no bounds.
  4. We were supposed to do a goose/duck weekend this past weekend. But, the guys in my group bailed out due to the one-bird limit. I went up and had a good bow hunting weekend with a phenomenal wood duck shoot Monday morning before heading home.
  5. That's exactly why i was asking. My buddies and i picked up a few dozen silhouettes for this season. Haven't used them yet. Looking forward to adding them to the rig. Carrying and transporting bags of full bodies is a pain in the ass. And, the one-bird limit definitely takes away a lot of the incentive.
  6. From the pictures, i see shells and silhouettes. Do you use full bodies also? Big spread or small?
  7. Very nice. The limit in my area is only one bird- obviously not in yours.
  8. Isn't it sad that a person sees differing political points of view as reason to call someone an enemy?
  9. I started using a red dot site for turkey hunting two years ago. i loved it so much that i bought another shotgun to use for ducks/geese so that i could leave the red dot setup specifically for turkey.
  10. Your first paragraph matches exactly the conversation that my buddies and i have all the time- and will probably have again this weekend at the cabin. Can't wait for the days when i'm retired and will have more time to get up there and not feel rushed. i look forward to being there for a few weeks at a time- when my most difficult decision will be whether to bow hunt, duck hunt, or go fishing- or even sleep in occasionally. Good for you. Enjoy the time.
  11. We'll be on a small creek in Otsego County in the morning waiting on the woodies. Good luck everyone. I'm heading upstate in about an hour- have to get through the city early to avoid Yankees traffic
  12. Anybody going out this weekend?
  13. When you mention canned venison, i'm imagining pot roast-type meat, or even stew. Is that accurate?
  14. Saw some guys catching stripers on the beach yesterday. One was huge.
  15. I agree- this type of ad won't turn an irresponsible person into a responsible one. But, that doesn't seem to be the point of the ad. It's trying to tell parents to ask to make sure that there aren't unsecured firearms in the homes of their kids' friends when their kids are playing there. Doesn't seem any different to me than asking if someone will be supervising the kids if they'll be in the pool. I also agree that the last line in the ad is debatable.
  16. I think the point is that they're referring to unsecured guns being around children. Kids find things and are curious.
  17. I saw that commercial for the first time last night during the Mets game. If my kids are playing at a friend's house, i'd want to know if there were unsecured weapons or drugs or even dangerous pets (like tigers) in the house. i think it's the line about guns being the number one killer of children that most won't like.
  18. i think the road i used to drive in from was called Snyder Hill Road. There was a small racetrack near it. There were a few forest roads that broke off in a grid pattern. The camping areas were really just small clearing off to the side of the forest roads where you could camp. The town of Cortland was about a twenty minute ride- plenty of options for a meal.
  19. I used to have property in 7R, bordering Tuller Hill State Forest. The deer hunting was OK. Definitely not a lot of pressure on the State land as far as i could tell. There were camping areas on the forest roads that i rarely noticed being used. Not a lot to do in the neighboring towns.
  20. Maybe covering something up- some kind of engravement on the stock?
  21. You're funny. Not sure why you need to defend North's false accusation, or why you're making such a big deal out of it. Maybe you're just the type that looks for an online fight, or can't admit when he's wrong. Or, maybe you're just so deep in the cult that you can't think or read straight. And, as far as your statement about deflections by 'you people', isn't that exactly what you yourself did? Never mind.
  22. You can't be serious. North accused the guy of saying something that he didn't say. i pointed that out. And, that's nitpicking? And, who are 'you people'?
