  1. Wow what a morning. Passed on a jake and a small 2yr old. Made 5 different stalks on the same bird and had him inside of 30 yards 3 different times and no shots. I had 1 shot at him at a little over 30yds but I won't shoot one over 20. I'm muddy, soaked and tired but it was an absolute blast! He's the one I'm after and won't be hard to tell because he's missing 2 tail feathers in the middle of his fan. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Well just made a 250yd crawl in a tire rut in a plowed cornfield to cut of a bird everything worked perfectly other than he zigged instead of zagged and came in 10ft behind me and never game a shot. Now I'm muddy and soaked but still have a lot of time and I think I know where he's heading. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Very quiet morning on the eastern front. Not surprising after the storm and with the heavy fog. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. My prayers were answered we got rain! Light drizzle and a little wind is my kind of turkey killing day! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Please let this weather report be true! Some thunder showers in the middle of the night, the woods are so loud it foiled both of my stalks on gobblers today. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. We lost a chicken to a fox last spring, that evening before dark I walked out into the woods behind the house with a chicken under 1 arm and the 10/22 under the other tied a rope around a sapling then around the chickens legs backed up 20yds didn't take 5 minutes for me to be back to the house and the fox to no longer be a threat to the chickens. It turns out chickens don't like to be tied to a tree in the woods and they'll make one hell of a racket when they are. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Well I broke my old record by about 45 minutes, sat for an hr and did a little calling. That craps for the birds I'm gonna go find one to kill. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Good luck boys and girls, I'm at work for another hr and a half then the mad dash to the woods. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Hell yea, as long as I could use a pistol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. They aren't my style, I just am surprised that a blind sticking out like that doesn't bother them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. If I had to carry that much stuff I would likely find a new hobby. I couldn't imagine putting in the miles I do with any more than I already carry "very small fanny pack." Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Never used a blind for turkeys. I can't beleve it doesn't bother them sticking out like that? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Back when I called I would call as soon as I heard the first gobble of the morning, start pretty loud then get softer. I always tried to do a fly down with a cackle before he flew down. I was pretty successful with this approach. I have never rooster a turkey, to me it takes the fun out of it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Sorry for your loss! I wish I could tell you it gets easier but I know I haven't gotten there yet. You have to find things that remind you of all the good times. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Go to the live from the turkey woods and turkey harvest threads and just scroll through the pictures. If that doesn't give you the reason than there is no need for this conversation. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Unless numbers get too high is there a problem with having too many hens? Or is it just huntability issues? I don't think there is an issue with hens not being bred. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Gets kids in the woods for an extra weekend, wow sounds terrible! Who the hell cares what the reason is? Kids are killing critters and making memories last I checked that's why we all hunt. If 1 kid killed a bird this youth season it's more than worth it in my opinion! Although I am a little butt hurt as well, if there was youth season when I was a kid I might have an extra beard or 2 on my wall. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Doesn't get any better than that! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. I know I hunt different than most but I love a ton with a bunch of hens, he's concentrated on them and not me sneaking up on him. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. How does the coyote choke pattern? I know Carlson doesn't give what restriction they are but most buck shot chokes are imp cylinder or mod. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Last night I got calls from Texas at 10:45, 10:55 and 11:05 at night I answer and no one is even there. If you're going to call and wake me up at least have the decency to let me tell you to go F*** yourself! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Here's mine Remington 870 tactical that I just painted it's has a trijicon RMR sight and a IMP Mod choke shooting Remington 2 3/4 #6 shot high brass game loads. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I have never known anyone but me that reports a turkey harvest. I am curious what % DEC thinks gets reported. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Same here carried an M4 for 8 years and on 4 deployments to the sand and I wouldn't hunt with deer with one. I don't want it hanging across my chest on a 2pt and don't want one hanging off me on a 1pt and their just not comfortable to carry because the mag is right at the balance point. Coyotes on the other hand they are perfect!
  25. Now we're talking! Although I have personally witnessed more pumps jamming than auto's while hunting but most of them are user error with guys who don't practice enough and short shuck them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
