OK! Buying Ammo Online Question
Buckmaster7600 replied to DirtTime's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
As much as I hate cuomo he got me into reloading and I shoot more than ever and spend less money doing it! If I have to buy ammo I have it sent to a buddies house out of state and get a flat rate box to shit it to me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
If you're hitting your arm even because of fatigue I would shorten your draw, trust me the pain from that bruise isn't even close to missing a buck on a cold November morning because your sting hit your jacket! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If ultra light weight is the main objective my tikka with just shy of an 18" barrel that I had rebored to 35 whelen is very close to as light as the Adirondack. There is some truth to the fact that these very light rifles aren't as easy to hold steady when shooting freehand, it is a very small price to pay in my opinion if you are walking miles in a day when ounces matter. Tips for hunting directly next to a corn field
Buckmaster7600 replied to mlammerhirt's topic in Deer Hunting
Find the closest bedding area and hunt the fringes. Early season if there is water close by hunt it! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
It is a nimble gun but for that money I expected more. Have you looked at the savage light weight? I'm not a Savage fan but I have held them and they are well balanced and the accuracy reports have been very good. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks, i own one and it's too loose and sloppy feeling. They are a quality product for sure just not for my application.

What is it that's driving you to the Adirondack? This will help with other suggestions. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Of all the guns I have bought it's the only gun I have ever sold. When I first heard about it I knew I had to have it, had one ordered before they were released. Shot well and carried great. I never could get over the lack of a magazine or hinged floor plate and I thought I could. Mine was a 7mm-08 and a true 1.5moa rifle. For a light short bolt gun my tikkas that I have had the barrels chopped off on are nearly as light better shooters, have a removable magazine and were less than half the price. I mainly still hunt the Adirondacks. For the last couple years I have been wearing a llbean tactical upland vest for deer hunting. I pack very light and hate bulk and the upland vest had worked very well but it is starting to show its miles. I was wondering if anyone if anyone uses this style vest/pack for deer or upland hunting and can give me some ideas for a replacement. My only requirements is no Velcro and not bulky. I'm sure this is a long shot but any help will be appreciated! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

With this method it is still pin on you are just choosing what hair you want on the leading edge of the pin instead of covering the group of hairs with the pin. Realistically it is not a huge difference at hunting ranges with archery equipment, at 100 yards a.19 pin covers half of a deer.

I won't say if they are more or less skittish, but I will say they are more curious. Once you get off the road there is a good chance that a deer hasn't seen a human before. I have had deer see me and or smell me and still walk up to me curiously. Never a big buck but I have had mature bucks give me 2nd chances that a mature deer in other areas would have never given me.

Oh, yea congrats Rob. This winter when it's -15 and you are under your trailer because a pipe is frozen just think of all the guns you can buy with the money saved! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

To each's own but I will never understand people that have to work OT or be on a very strict budget to afford their mortgage. I'm never home other than to eat and sleep. Thankfully my wife agrees. This weekend while a bunch of guys I work with will be working OT to afford their bills I'll be on my boat fishing [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Haha when I was stationed in SC I had a cr500 super moto it was a blast and the single most un economical thing in the world 30ish miles to a tank but boy was it fun, I used to ride it to work with a 32oz Gatorade bottle of gas in my backpack because I couldn't make it to work and home on a tank. Buying a "mobile" home was the best life decision I have ever made, being 30 and completely debt free and never having a mortgage allows me to live! My friends and coworkers constantly ask how I afford all my guns and toys and I remind them that my house costs me 1700$ a year! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I just looked on my phone and I don't have a pic of them, next time I have them out I'll take one and I'll put the CR500 in the middle. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Yes they are, nothing in this world makes you feel 14 again like riding a 250R And riding a 350X is like having a Tyrannosaurus rex as a pet. -

Haha, I still have 2 3 wheelers and they are all I ride until deer season when the 4x4 foreman comes out. I have a 86 250r and a 85 350x and will have them until I die. For those who don't know how to ride them they are very dangerous hell they are for those that do. But there is nothing like taking a corner with the a$$ end hanging way out to the side with the front wheel off the ground -
I lollipop with a bow and iron sight, everything of mine is sighted in to impact the 12oclock edge of front sight or pin. This is most precise method of aiming, and why it's used in long range shooting with iron sights. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

For the recoil sensitive with bear in mind I would go for a 7mm-08 . 25-06 is a good cartridge but in my opinion doesn't do anything that another better know cartridge doesn't do as well or better. I have one and can't remember the last time I shot it. Like I said nothing wrong with them and the recoil isn't bad at all but for a woman or youth I would go with a 7mm-08 as a "step up" from a 243.

I have hunted the ADKS since I was a young kid with some success. Get a gps and a map and a compass and don't ever forget any of them. Get boots that are comfortable and light. My success has come from covering a lot of miles, sometimes 10+ miles a day. The important part of this is knowing when to move fast and when to slow down. I pack very light and carry light guns that have had the barrels sawed off for better portability. Most of my success has been when I found a spot with buck sign where I can see a long ways. I have shot a bunch of bucks over 150yds in the ADKS. My buck I shot last year I shot in a spot I had found 3 days earlier and it was 3 miles from the road. When u find a spot that has buck sign you want to be there before light. This usually means early mornings and long walks in the dark "compass and gps." Hunting the ADKS is my personal favorite place to hunt and can be very rewarding and very frustrating! My cousin and I have had a camp for 11 years and he has yet to kill a buck. If a deer I kill takes a minute or an hr to die that is better than the lifetime of misery that the hog or cow would have to endure in captivity. I have killed a lot of critters and some lived a lot longer than I would have liked but there is no guarantee of a fast kill with any weapon. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

NICS Is Wonky At Times
Buckmaster7600 replied to DirtTime's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
A buddy of mine gets put on hold every time. In all the guns I have bought, even when I bought 10 in one month I have never been out on hold. I have no idea how or why it happens but I know the guys I know who are regularly put on hold don't have any legal issues that would cause it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
