Didn't get 50 yards from truck and jumped deer. Was good sized it was close enough to hit my little beam. About half way bumped another lightly. Not the sneak in I envisioned! I think I have shared these two as well. Back oh 20 years ago I was hunting some NiMo and town land along a creek. I had a buck come in and put a good bowshot on him. He took off and I heard him splash across the creek. I waited a bit then got down and tracked him. The creek was rain swollen and too deep without swimming so I marked the spot and hiked out, drove around and came in from the other side which is non hunting due to town buildings. I left bow in car and hiked back to the creek and picked up trail he cleared the woods and a small field and died right in the back lawn of the Police station! Guess he was going for help!! Another out of that same stand a few years later one morning I put an arrow good into a nice buck. I tracked him to the creek and the creek was lower and there were 2 prints right a couple inches into the water then nothing. A deer trail ran along the creek and another split off back into the woods. I looked for more sign all friggin day and was baffled. The next morning I was back and wandering down the side of the creek probably close to a mile and I see an antler sticking out of the water at a deadfall. The stinking deer fell over dead right at the creek and floated all that way. The water was in the 40s so the deer was absolutely fine but weighed a ton dragging out that creek bottom! First reason is it does not need freezing. It lasts a couple years, not around here lol. And it makes poor or tough cuts wonderfully tender and flavorful. The texture of a wonderfully cooked roast.

Depends on how rainy and the forcast. A light rain is fine and I see good deer movement. Any downpour or steady rain I completely avoid in bow season due to comfort, low chance of movement and poor tracking ability. I have stillhunted gun in some steady rain as cover to get to bedding areas, not sucessfully though and not overly fun!
