I have always wanted to do a camping backwoods hunt. And make it a regular thing. Robin inspires me!! I recently began researching the Cedar River Flow and may just give it a look here some weekend on an overnight to take a look.

I have one bud in the league I run and he auto drafted one year due to not being able to make it and he came in first. So he auto drafts every year and has done pretty well. The auto is better than his drafting!!

Glad you are doing well!! The C is no joke I had my first battle back over a decade ago in my early 30's. What a kick in the nuts and chemo sucks. It makes you really take stock in living your life to the fullest. I am glad you are back out there and sharing your wonderful trips with us!! Good luck this fall and thank you for your service.

I got nailed in the back on the head weed wacking a couple weeks ago, hate friggin hornets. I have sprayed 4 nests in the last couple weeks. I need to have a talk with the company that sprayed this spring!! I also found a ground nest the other day. Just went out after dark poured in 10-12 oz of gas and light. No more ground bees! I just bought two new cans of spray just knowing I had to go check out the tower blind soon. I can guarentee there will be a nest in there. Lots of fun when your climbing in!

Just wondering what your all in cost is on one of these. Paint, wood, screws, chains, bolts, adhesive...? Nice looking stand, looks sturdy and comfy!

Before smart phones I would bring a book. Now usually the phone. I find I can sit longer and move less if I have something to occupy slow periods. If I saw 20 deer a sit like some lucky ones I would not need to do this but I have gone 10-12 days without seeing a deer at times!! If it is rut or prime movement time I am on point but otherwise I pop on In The stand thread, text hunting buddies around the country as they do me keeping us all hopeful, play Sudoku, read the news, check out sports on the phone......I only look at the phone for a minute or two then check for movement. I also try to minimize phone or book on days I can't hear movement in the woods well, then I need to focus more on my soroundings. On potato chip leaf days I could be watching a movie and still hear a deer walking 300 yards away!!

If it was my land and I was serious about getting them off I would make copies and post on every gas station, restaurant and bar within 25 miles and put a reward on it for information. I don't pay for land and taxes so someone else can use it without my permission. Or find a local high school teacher I bet they could peg right off!

I am not for or against but I gotta question the great enthusiasm for filming the kills, especially ones not quick drops, and expect anyone out of the hunting population to get it. Most of these people think meat originates in Styrofoam and cellophane. To me it's a private thing, a hunter thing. I get that I am taking a life and respect that and when I reach that downed animal I take a knee beside it and give thanks. I don't need to convey that or video that for people who don't get it. I also believe as hunters it is our responsibility to put the quarry down as fast as possible, that always does not happen I know but it should be the goal. I am not sure a spear meets that for me personally for him it does. Just don't video yourself jumping around like a freaking Olympic winner hitting a buzzer beater and expect the non hunting public to be all fine with it. More people in this country are non hunters than hunt I would think we try not to alienate them all. I get those that say oh F them it is legal and my right.......but I would like my kids and grandkids to enjoy what I have. This country and world is PC retarded, over litigated, overcome by loud special interest groups, over photo'd, videoed and selfy'd and it ain't getting any better. Off my soapbox......

That is a breakfast fatty. Scrambled eggs, onions, peppers, mushrooms, salsa, Swiss cheese all rolled up in breakfast sausage and then a bacon weave. Then smoked with mesquite for a few hours. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
