  1. I hunt state land a lot in central NY and none have too much area that no one hunts it all. I hunt a few places 5000 to 7000 acres. And they get hunted throughout. These spots have so many access points there are no spots more than a couple miles off path. Now up in the Dacks that is a different story. You can go in there and not see a person all season in some spots.
  2. I would have to agree. Thanx for posting Eddie.
  3. Awesome!! Congratz!!! I can not wait to be a grandparent so I can get even with my kids!!! lol ;D
  4. Man it is blowin and snowin! No 30 or 40 here!! I think we are closing in on 150 inches here so far this season.

Welcome to the site. We won't hold Texas against ya!! ;D
  6. I am not sure I would call him the "great" but he is definately a passionate guy. I like him and I think he does a lot of good for hunting and shooting. Does he fit all of what we want in a spokesperson? No, no one does. We need multiple spokespeople. Young, old, female, male, politician, celebrity, regular Joe or Sue. I think the more mainstream folks especially a few counry music stars and athletes need to speak more but they are afraid to hurt their paychecks by offending a person who may buy a CD or Ticket. We all need to be better spokespeople in my mind.
  7. Wild that with all those guys, a dog and just getting a horn blown off that deer still wanted to stay and fight! Wow!
  8. My son and I tried it over the weekend. It was not our favorite. But we gave it a shot.
  9. tree stand theives - have had 2 stolen and one ruined over the years trespassers - especially the ones who walk right by posted signs Litterers - I pick up some every time out owners of dogs running deer on my property - not the dogs fault I was ready to shoot the neighbor people who target shoot on state land with no backstop towards where you are set up - this just amazes me cause it has happened a few times. Some people are extremely stupid. mosquitos - again cause they are worthless and if I am lucky enough to get to heaven my first question will be, besides where is the bar?, why mosquitos?
  10. Baiting has always been illegal. Feeding off season was not until CWD. I think deer are dispersed very different than 25 35 years ago. Back then you could hunt on others property more readily. Everything was not posted. Hunters did not hunt out of tree stands or pop up blinds. They moved more thus moving deer. There was more hunting spread out not anymore. On public land now the deer that stay have hunters so patterned they have the advantage and the others move onto lands with no hunters. If you happen to be able to hunt lower pressured areas or work a bit harder or smarter in public land you will see more. But if you hunt like everyone else you are at a disadvantage.
  11. I use the lightfields as well in 20 gauge in my Ithica Deerslayer. I have had good luck with them as well and the 20 is a joy to shoot, screw them 12 gauges! Turn my dang shoulder all shades of bruise just shooting a box or two!!
  12. I would have to say I am against it. The reason being is you are expanding the deer herd above the carrying capacity of the land in some places. So if you stop feeding then the deer completely wipe out their other sources and the deer populations drops off the map. I would encourage planting things they like to eat like blackberry, wild grape and honeysuckle. Stuff that improves the land and is there even when you are not. Is a little gonna hurt? No, but where do you draw the line or enforce? Say you put out 200 pounds a week and so are 200 other people in your town. Now your talking 40,000 pounds!!
  13. I like granola bars which I always have a couple in my pack and I usually have an apple. If I am doing a long haul I may pack in a sandwich or two. Also I always have a bottle of diet mountain dew.
  14. I've ridden my bicycle through Bombay. Probably 10 miles or so from me. I am sure that did not take long!! One of those blink and miss it spots!!
  15. Welcome to the forum! Interested to see you like to smoke. Maybe you have a good smoked venison recipe to share.

  18. Here is my 1/2 Bluetick Coonhound 1/2 ? lab maybe. She is a southern dog my wife and daughter drove to NC to get her. She loves the snow though! She is 1 1/2 years old and a bit over 60 pounds. She is also trained not to bark at the deer in the yard! Can not be scaring them. She will go out and lay down and watch them. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c163/Fletch1/Bleu3.jpg[/img] http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c163/Fletch1/Bleu2-1.jpg[/img] .
