  1. Kaydeross Fish and Game Club.....That would be really cool....
  2. I really like my Trophy Ridge revolution. Its quiet through the draw cycle and hasn't failed me ever after I don't even know how many arrows. It captures the arrow nicely. The whisker is foolproof and I really have no good reason not to use one though.....I would say the choice is yours to make....
  3. I have never even seen what a 3-D archery shoot is so I have never obviously attended one. I didn't even know there was such a thing since reading about them on this forum. Well yesterday I drove past my local gun club and they have a sign out that says there is a 3-d shoot 5/29. I was thinking it would be fun to give it a shot. Would I look like an idiot showing up there with my not top of the line hunting rig? (Bowtech Assassin) How far do you generally shoot? How many arrows would I bring? Can I use a rangefinder of do I have to guess? Can someone give me a rundown on what I could expect. It is the Kadeross Fish and game club if anyone is going to attend. I don't want to look like a complete idiot....
  4. Grow, I don't come on this forum as often when it isn't Sept-Dec but I am glad to see you are posting again. I always enjoyed your posts....
  5. Nothing for if you like the way it is now which I do. Although I think Seniors and Disabled should be able to use all season. Basically either for against so I chose for....
  6. I am a total GM guy so take my opinion with a grain of salt. I think the new Colorado is an awesome looking truck. Love the interior as well. Wish I could get away with one but I need a full size with all the stuff I pull. Boat, camper, ATV's, Snowmobiles.
  7. I was looking for a mild priced compound a few years ago. I shot the stinger and I hated it. That isn't to say you will. Some other choices of bows in that price range were the Hoyt Charger, A G5 (I don't remember the model) and the Bowtech Assassin. I fell in love with the Assassin and I am still shooting it. I believe the Carbon Knight has replaced the Assassin. If I can make one recommendation it is do not purchase a Rak package. Buy a bare bow and then pick out a rest, site etc. I wish I did this, the stuff that came with the Rak package was junk, although I am still using the quiver....
  8. I carry the same backpack for every hunt. Doesn't matter if I have an hour in the stand or I am going to sit dark to dark. Its whats in that backpack that changes a lot for me. Early bow it will be fairly empty, just bino's calls, knife, rangefinder etc. Late season when it is cold and I plan on sitting dark to dark it looks like I am planning on backpacking for a week. I have my packed stuffed full of extra layers, snacks, lunch, thermos, hot hands and if it really cold I will have my camo coveralls rolled up and strapped to the outside of the pack. That's when it looks like I am planning for a week long hike....
  9. Saturday I started picking up the garage, somehow it turned into a full cleanup. I emptied all the cabinets and shelves. Threw everything in the middle of the garage. Went back and reorganized everything and threw out tons of crap. I even went as far as wiping down the shelves and vacuuming all the cob webs, then I vacuumed the floor. Sunday I did the same thing to my shed....Now I have such a huge pile of junk I need to make a dump run or wait several weeks while stuffing my garbage full every Wednesday.....Feels good to have it done but I would have like to been playing instead....

    New hunter

Welcome to the forum...where is Blasdale NY....I have never heard of it and I am too lazy to look it up. If you are near the capital region maybe I can take you out....There are much better hunters on this forum than me but I am learning something new every year....Otherwise, find some state land and take a walk....I love walking in the woods anytime of year....
  11. Welcome, I agree with everyone else.....Those arrows are excellent arrows but there is really no reason to spend that kind of money. Get a dozen or two of some cheaper carbon arrows with the correct spine for your draw weight. Get all the same kind, and then practice practice practice.....If money is no object to you then awesome! You can def use those if you get the correct spine for you bow....I always look at those when I am browsing at a store. Can't bring myself to pull the trigger. My Gold Tips work fine for half the cost....
  12. There were a couple of video's on the water resistance....One guy was taking video while snorkeling....another one put his phone through a 45 min wash cycle in the washer. The phone made it through both....I won't be testing mine like that but it is nice to not have to worry about a little bit of water...
  13. I haven't tried it....little skeptical about having my credit card right on my phone....I assume by next year that will probably be the norm.....
  14. That wasn't a typo, I thought it was 15 meters.....oh well, better than no water resistance at all....I got pushed off the dock with my phone in my pocket last summer and it didn't survive.....hopefully this one will if that situation happens again.....you know the situation of buddies being idiots
  15. So my wifes old droid something or other stopped working correctly so we went to Verizon to get her a new phone. We always have just gotten the "free phone" when you sign a contract and like clockwork the phone would die when the contract was up. So now there are no contracts, they put the price of your phone in your payment or you can buy it outright. So the lady starts showing us a $600 phone. I immediately say we don't need a phone like that, what else you got so she shows us a $550 dollar phone etc. So the lady is explaining that some new phone is coming out next week so the price on the $550 phone will drop. So I talk my wife into waiting a week. So a week later I look at Verizon online and to see if there are any deals and they have the new Samsung Galaxy S7 buy one get one free. Now this is a $700 phone. So I go there and ask for the deal thinking I am sure my phone is going to die any day since our contract is up so I might as well take this deal and we will have two new phones at $350 a piece is what I am thinking. Well they tell me that deal is only for new customers. So I show on their website that is says nothing about that and they don't care so they start showing other options. So I tell them my option is to go across the street to AT&T and see if they will give me this deal...So I do, and not only do I get the buy one get one free, they waive the activation fee, we keep our numbers, gave us two wireless chargers and they are paying our last Verizon bill. So I got this phone and at first I am like, I don't really see what is so great about this thing. Well now that I have had it a couple of days, this thing is pretty awesome....Superfast, it takes better pictures than my actual camera (not that I am photographer) slow motion video is really cool. I might actually use this for more than just making phone calls. I love the fact that it is water resistant to 15 meters. I was a little nervous about the service switching to AT&T but so far it has been fine. We sure have come a long way from the Walkman sport that I used to think I was so cool for having. I better be careful, I don't want to find myself waiting inline for the S8 to come out....
  16. When we weren't shooting bb guns or catching frogs and crawfish out of the creek, we were playing Army. We would run around the woods from sun up to sundown setting up ambushes on each other etc. I had the coolest M16....I wish I still had it....It took a 9v battery and had a selector switch for single shot, burst and full auto and it would make the noise for you what ever you had it on. That was probably my favorite toy growing up. It didn't have an orange barrel either....It was a scary looking black rifle.
  17. Great news!!! That had to be a very scary thing to go through....Here is to wishing you good health for the future!
  18. Wow, that's really nice......Great job!
  19. I agree it is difficult to find a place to hunt that isn't public. I am on a lease but it has been for sale for several years. One of these years it will be sold and we will be looking for another lease. It will never happen in NY but I have always thought that if you gave the people willing to open their land to hunting a tax break on property taxes that would open all kinds of land while also having a clause that the land owner cannot be sued. There really isn't any benefit right not to landowners opening their land to hunters.
  20. I think there are several things affecting the youth. I would say the number one thing is the addiction to social media and video games. My daughter just turned 11. Thank god she has no care in the world for video games but she has been begging for a phone. In contrast to the 11 year old boy that lives across the street, you never see him outside. He is always playing on the X-box or his phone. His Dad used to kick him outside to play or play basket ball or whatever else outside with him but they just split up and he is no longer there. Now, it could be sunny and 75 degrees and my daughter will ask him to play and he has no interest. Thank god my daughter still loves to play outside, we hike in the nature preserve together at least twice a week. I have taken her hunting but she gets very "bored" in the tree stand. Doesn't help that I have yet to see a deer with her with me. But she loves the outdoors and I could see her hunting one day, maybe....Although she also loves animals. I think the number two think is the continuous pounding these kids take that guns are bad. I have had my daughter out shooting the .22 a few times at the range. The way she acts you would think the gun was going to blow up in her hands. I have to try and pound in her head that the only way a gun is going to hurt you is if you are being unsafe with it.
  21. I am with Chris B,,,,,my preferred beer is ice cold....If I have to I will make due with cool but after that I am drinking something else....
  22. I really like the way the seasons are right now....Bow, crossbow, rifle, muzzleloader. It make you become proficient and use all of your weapons. If they go full inclusion my compound will probably collect dust and that will annoy me but I am not going to use it when I can use a crossbow. I do believe anyone should be able to use a crossbow for the full season if they can't use a compound for any reason with a simple doctors note. So I guess I don't want full inclusion because I guess I need to be forced to use my compound. I know, stupid right?
  23. That's impossible.......all those people walking around with loaded firearms....you would think at least one of those firearms would have went rouge and shot someone.....something is very fishy here...I am going to have to find a liberal and ask them what happened....
