  1. These stupid laws changing every year are really starting to annoy me. I put off purchasing a compound bow for years because every year they said they were going to include crossbows and I didn't feel like I had the time to become proficient with a bow. I finally broke down 4 or 5 years ago and purchased a compound bow and spent a lot of time shooting it so I would feel comfortable hunting game with it. Then I find out all this time I was missing the best part of the season to be in the woods all because our elected officials couldn't make up their mind on something that should have been done a long time ago. Then they change the law so you can use a crossbow and I don't have one. So I go through this season using my compound even though I could have been using a crossbow if I had one. Then I tell my wife I would like a crossbow but I don't want to spend a lot of $$ on one for a two weeks season which for me will be hunting two days. (Sundays) So wife is nice enough to purchase me a crossbow for Christmas (Barnett Gamecrusher) so now I have a crossbow to use during the two week season. Now they are going to (maybe) have full inclusion so I have a compound bow that will probably collect dust that I have a lot of $$ into and a cheap crossbow that I would have never purchased had I known that I could use it all season. Very frustrating....then again what isn't frustrating when elected officials are involved....
  2. That's awful....so sorry for you and your family....
  3. Like someone else mentioned...I don't even bring mine when rifle hunting.......For Bow I am not sure how people go without one. I have all the trees ranged around my stand so I know ok the deer is by that tree or between this tree and that tree its xx far away. I am always surprised how far off I am when I guess before I range. Usually the tree is closer than I think. I have never actually ranged a deer....
  4. Yup, can't get the "Green Energy" up and running with affordable fossil fuels. Have to do everything possible to run the cost up on fossil fuels. The EPA has spent so much time promoting their green agenda under this regime by closing refineries and banning fracking that they have actually forgot their job and let millions of people deal with poor drinking water quality all over the nation as well as here in NY....
  5. I don't blame you for wanting the trigger covered....I have been leaving the gun unchambered. I know this will add a step if I ever need it but I sure don't need it going off in my pocket or anywhere for that matter under any circumstances where I don't intend for it too...
  6. That is a great idea...I am going to try it....The Bodyguard is the .380....
  7. I don't have an expensive rimfire but I love shooting them. I have a Ruger 10/22 that I shoot more than anything else. I use my S&W semi auto .22 more than any other of my pistols. I have my grandfathers old browning .22 (I don't know the model but it splits in half) that I use to use a lot more often until I went to a few gun shows and saw what it was worth. Now it just sits in the safe which I guess is stupid because I will never sell it....
  8. Welcome...you are 1500 miles away and know more people on the forum than I do.....(which by the way is 0)
  9. I have never met anybody on this site or hunted with anyone on this site. I am open to any and all invitations...
  10. I was looking at myself in the mirror this morning and I was like....yup, that's a gun.....Nobody has said anything though. I think I might try an ankle holster....I will see how it goes....As long as I don't hear....is that a gun in your pocket or are you just happy to see me...
  11. So I picked my Body Guard up at lunchtime today. I looked at a couple of the holsters the shop had....Two different pocket holsters and a in the waistband holster. None of them excited me very much so I put the gun in my pocket and left. My problem with the pocket holsters were it made the gun feel a lot bigger in my pocket than it is. They basically turn it into a square outline. Anyway the gun feels fine in my pocket with nothing around it but now I am paranoid that the outline in my pocket is screaming "GUN". I am sure it isn't to anybody but me...at least I hope....what do you guys use? I was thinking I might get an ankle holster....
  12. Well I got home from work yesterday and the amendment was in the mail. I was pleasantly surprised how quick it was. Going to pick up the .380 at lunchtime....Once I have it you won't catch me without it....
  13. I was reading about a Cabela's branded bow the other day. I can't think of the name of it but most of their Bows I believe are made my Diamond (Bowtech). It was crazy adjustable. I believe the draw length was 18-30" and 15-70lbs. I was reading it thinking how perfect it would be for a "grow into" bow. I think any childrens bow is basically a throw away bow.
  14. I want an AR10.....maybe when I retire (about 25 yrs away) and get the hell out of this state! Assuming we still have the 2nd Amendment in 25 yrs....
  15. Yea, I originally got the one with out the laser...then I decided if the laser was there I don't have to use it but if I decided I wanted it, it would be to late. The pistol still has sites on it....
  16. Well I have been wanting a "pocket" gun for several years. Problem was the pistols I loved were not really pocket guns and neither is my full frame 9mm. I really liked the Sig P238 but it was just a hair to big but I loved the way it shot. I have fired a Ruger LCP .380 but I hated it the way it shot. I have been looking at the S&W Body Guard and have been hoping to fire one at some point but I never got the chance. After looking at and holding and reading about the Body Guard I pulled the trigger on it yesterday. I am not expecting it to be a great shooter but if is ever needed, it will be better than having nothing. First, I was just going to get the one without the lazer...then while they were doing the paperwork I was afraid I would regret it and asked if they could change it to the one with the lazer which will probably be useless but I didn't want to regret not having it. Just waiting for my amendment in the mail. Should have it next week.
  17. I feel like as everyone else gets excited for spring and the warm days. I get mopey this time of year. It is between seasons for me. My passions are Hunting (mostly deer) Snowmobiling (which stunk this year other than the three trips to Canada) and Boating/Racing my car. This is the time of year I have to do tasks like clean up the yard and odd jobs around the house....yuck! My Sunday consisted of putting a closet organizer in my wifes closet. I sure wish that time was spent in a tree stand, on a snowmobile trail or out on the lake somewhere. On the plus side I have driven my car twice this spring. I don't usually have it out until mid April, sometimes later...
  18. Well I know I got the scope from Pygmy but I was just looking around and saw the Simmons .22mag scope on ebay brand new in the package for $37.99 with free shipping so I said what the heck, can't beat that and ordered it. It says there are two more available if anyone is interested.....
  19. My first job was a paper route. I think I lost money on it since I had to pay per paper, they always stuck extra ones I didn't ask for and had to pay for, and nobody every seemed to want to pay up when it came collecting time. My first job I had to show up for was when I was 15 and I rode my bike to Dairy Queen. I earned $3.25 per hour...that would have been in 1988. My checks were always around $40.00. More money than most of my friends had at the time...
  20. I want an unlike button...only because I agree with you and I don't like it!!!!!!!!
  21. You can NOT government people into prosperity. The people that are making minimum wage are making it for a reason.
  22. Awesome photo. I love seeing the pics you post....
  23. Squirrels don't die unless shot, eaten or run over. I was walking my dog on a paved bike path several years ago when this squirrel didn't make a jump from limb to limb and the thing fell at least 50 ft and landed smack on the pavement with a thud that would have made you think someone was dropping a bowling ball. Well my dog was there in a matter of seconds and that squirrel ran away like it had just jumped off a stump. Up until that day I always wondered if they ever fell. Now I know they do but it doesn't matter
  24. Hey Pygmy, I received the scope, thank you so much
  25. I think I could survive for 21 days in say the Adirondacks without to much trouble. Put me in somewhere like the amazon rain forest or desert where I wouldn't have a clue and I wouldn't make it 3 days.......
