  1. The hunting lease that I have been on with the guys I hunt with for at least 10 years has been for sale as long as I have been on the lease. There is a stipulation in the lease that they can sell it at anytime. I used to worry about it thinking it would stink if they sold but I don't even think about it anymore. I plan on trying to make a little food plot this year by my stand for the first time. If it actually does sell for what the owner is asking...I will figure it out then....
  2. Myself, I got a buck and a doe with the bow and a buck on opening day for a total of 3. That was my best season ever. For the rest of my hunting party in 4k it was a pretty miserable year with two other doe taken and 1 other buck.
  3. I would think the storage unit route would be the best way to go as well. 24 hour access. I know you can get heated indoor storage that is secure at some locations and you wont have to worry about moisture if it is heated. Can you purchase a gun in the states if your from Canada?
  4. I wish I knew more but unfortunately 99% of what you said was greek to me....Are you planning on using a 200Grain Bullet to hunt whitetail? Either way, both rifles are beautiful....

I am 42....My father got me shooting at camp when I was 4. There is a pic of me in the family album that has me standing next to my .410 shotgun and it was a lot taller than me. My father took me deer hunting with him a few times when I was young. We did see some deer. That was back in the days of party tags and you would see 24 doe in a day all the time but bucks were seldom scene. I started deer hunting with my father when I was 16 and I loved every second of it but I am not sure I would have called it hunting compared to what I do now. We would have breakfast around 8am. Head out around 9am....Head back at 11am for lunch and maybe if it was nice out go back out at 3 until dark. Then we would come back in for happy hour, have a huge filling camp dinner and the guys would drink and play cards until the wee hours of the morning and repeat the next day. I loved every second of it but it wasn't hunting compared to what I do now although I did kill a few doe during those years the thought of being in the woods before dark never even crossed my mind. I thought that was how you hunted. When my dad was no longer able to get around as well and quit hunting I joined a hunting lease with some guys I knew and hunting took on a whole new meaning. (about 15 years ago) This is when I was introduced to treestand hunting and getting in the woods before first light. These were much more serious hunters than anyone I had ever hunted with at camp. I learned that there was a lot more to hunting than walking out back and sitting on a stump for a few hours. I got into bow hunting a few years ago and I wish I didn't wait so long. It is by far my favorite time to be in the woods. I wouldn't trade those days at deer camp with the old man for anything though
  6. I always enjoy seeing your pictures. They are beautiful!...thank you so much for sharing
  7. When does less equal more? My answer to that is less hunters on StateLand, Less members in my hunting lease, Less Dog Crap in the yard when I am cleaning it up.....Those are just off the top of my head. I like the second picture better but it doesn't matter to me....what do you like? Which way do you want to use it for the hunting you do? I would take function over looks every day of the week
  8. We have a lot of stupid laws that only hurt the law abiding among us. I assume, but don't know that they made that law to stop road hunting.
  9. WOW! That is beautiful......What an awesome piece! Would love to see the step by step photo's
  10. LOL, Great pic, thanks for sharing
  11. Wow, shows how fragile life can be and how we should all be thankful for each day. My prayers go out to you and your family...
  12. I have never tried a food plot but I would like to this year. My stand is in a couple acre patch of hardwoods and seems like a transition area. I would like to try a small plot to see if I can get the deer to stop while they are moving through. Sunlight I think will be my biggest issue....
  13. My only child is a ten year old daughter. I would be feeling much the same way you are. I feel like I have raised her right and she makes good decisions. You can't hold them back, but you can worry like hell!!!!
  14. I don't see what the issue is....Just mix all the cheese with the broken crackers to you desired consistency and eat....
  15. I really need to get in shape....but I probably won't.....
  16. So far it is great. I have shot it roughly 30-40 times. I got the scope dialed in but it took longer than it should have. The scope is 1/4 inch @ 100yds like a rifle so I had to make a lot of adjustment in the scope and didn't want to over adjust. Once dialed in @ 20 yds, the 30 yd line was right on exactly. I have not fired it over 30 yds and only made a couple of shots at 30 to see how close it was. All my groups at 20 yds the arrows were touching. I purchased a rope cocker before even trying to cock it by hand. As far as I am concerned the rope cocker is a must have. You may think differently. I have completely ruined the fletchings on the bolts that came with the crossbow. This thing buries the bolts past the fletchings in my target bag that handles my Bowtech compound no problem. Overall I am very happy with it but can't speak at all yet on the longevity of the crossbow. If it holds up I don't think you can beat it for the money and the short season we have here in NY. Hope this helps
  17. I don't think I would ever stop hunting....I might roll back over if it is raining or really windy out. I am not really sure you can ever get the get the actual "Buck of a lifetime". Once you get your Buck of a lifetime you hope for one better than that. Does that mean I wouldn't shoot smaller ones, no but it would keep me out there. As much as I hope for a chance someday of that buck of a lifetime, I enjoy being in the woods, hearing the woods wake up, and seeing deer no matter how big or small. I don't know anybody personally, that has gotten a deer so big they have no shot at getting a bigger one ever....
  18. I didn't but NOTHING was frozen. Even the little bodies of water you pass in the truck on the way up. There aren't suppose to be any more warmups in the long range forcast so I would think you would be OK by the end of the month....I don't know if you ever look but www.ilsnow.com is a good source of information on conditions.
  19. I can't wait for ice....I went snowmobiling up in Indian Lake last weekend and I never realized how many frozen bodies of water I cross. Just took it for granted. Really limits the riding....
  20. So we are not down in the northeast? I am not sure if I believe that or not.....Or maybe we have just always been down compare to the Midwest....
  21. That is cool.....I wish I had so many deer on the wall I had to worry about them looking the same.....My first one is at the Taxi from this year after 28 years of trying......Can't wait to get him back.....
  22. Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!!!
  23. The only problem I have with the death penalty is it isn't severe enough for the scum of the earth that are sitting on death row. I would be ok with the death penalty for more things too....Rape, child molestation etc. If your family member is murdered and there is clear proof of who did it that family that is already grieving shouldn't have to wait years to put their torment to rest. Our ridiculousness of our society has given criminals more rights than the free people. The scum of the earth that escaped from the prison upstate this summer is clear proof of this. How they are not just sitting in a freakin jail rotting is beyond me. Then we find out that guards aren't even aloud to shine a flashlight in their cell at night??? Give me a break....Your right to a goodnights sleep or anything other than a bed, toilet and meals was checked when you did the crime. (I would be ok with hard floor and a bucket)Deal with it...but no....now they can get a free college education while they are in jail.....who the heck comes up with these idea's..??
