Back in the stand for one last afternoon with the crossbow. I used to be so excited for gun season. Now it's sad bow is over. Well...not over yet...i got 2.5 hours to make something happen! Come on deer!

Well been in since a little before 6. Seen 3 so far but all to far to tell anything other than they were deer. Would love to fill a buck tag today! Good luck everyone that's out

Nothing but squirrels so far. If I get skunked this morning sit it will be the first time not seeing deer from this stand this year so I shouldn't complain but it seems like such a perfect morning with the cold and little snow. I'm blaming the bright moon

In and setup since just before 6. Seems like a perfect morning with just enough snow to see. Back on the oak ridge and creek bottom. Quiet so far.

I don't have any advice to give because like you, I have never shot past 100yds. If I had to guess I would say 60-70 yds is probably the furthest I have shot. I have my rifle sited at 100. Not an inch high like many. The one thing I do know is that if there is a guy on this forum that can make that shot with confidence and ethics it is you. If it feels right you will squeeze that and send it home and if it doesn't seem quite right you will live to fight another day and be happy with the experience. Win win either way!

We have a 6 or better rule on our lease unless you have never killed a buck. I don't believe we have anyone hunting this year that has never killed a buck.

Live from the office. Just have to get through this DEC inspection today and then I am in the woods the next 4 days. Wish I could fast forward the clock.....

I'll let you know when I figure it out....It seems like there is always something that is cold for me....I use toe warmers since my thermocells died. Hot hands, neck gator, winter hat, layers and layers and more layers....

I am ready but I am still hoping to put a buck down with the crossbow. Just have to get through this DEC inspection today then the next 4 days will be spent in 4K. Where I sit with the rifle will depend what I see Thursday and Friday with the crossbow.

Can missing 1 vane throw the arrow off that far @ 25 yds? I can see if it hit the rest because it didn't drop. I shot a vane off an arrow at the range one day and tried it again at 20 yds just for the heck of it and at 20 yds it grouped with the rest of the arrows. I am just curious, I wouldn't knowingly shoot an arrow missing vanes at a deer but when I tried it at a target I was surprised it didn't matter at all....again this was only at 20 yds.

While it seems like everyone on here is seeing chasing and Moog is even posting deer porn, here in 4K I'm still not seeing any sign of chasing. Hunted all Day Saturday and Sunday on the same oak ridge that overlooks a creek bottom with thick bedding on other side of creek. I have been seeing plenty of deer. Doe, Fawns still with their mothers. One that I have seen several times is still Nursing. Small spikes intermingled with the doe and all just eating acorns, no chasing. There are several scrapes on the ridge and there must be 30 Rubs in the creek bottom. I hope I am there when it turns on but I have still not seen anything other than deer eating acorns. The small bucks are ignoring the doe. Last week the big doe my buddy got didn't smell at all. Really thought this would be the weekend. Hoping to take Thursday and Friday off to hunt the last two days of crossbow before the gun opener Saturday.

Well. I am not sure where the rut is in 4K. Saw 2 small bucks this morning. Not chasing. Two doe. No bucks bothering them. 6 doe this evening. 1 of them still nursing her fawn. They were around on the acorn ridge for the last hour of light. Not 1 buck came to check them out. Back at it in the morning

Get it right so its against your body. A size smaller than you normally wear. I have lost 30 lbs and my heated vest doesn't work as good loose

Stupid wind. Just recheck weather. Yup supposed to be south @ 10mph. Should be in my face. Started off as very light west and now it's north. Grrr. Saw my spike buddy. A half rack 3pt and a doe earlier. Nothing since the wind changed and picked up

Ugg, Live from the office, I just got notified I have a DEC inspection Wednesday. Planned on hunting Wednesday Thursday and Friday before gun season. Looks like Thursday and Friday will have to do....
