  1. I film with my phone every deer I don't intend to shoot. Got some pretty cool videos. I would love to self film. Might ask for a tacta cam from Santa.
  2. I don't have that crossbow but I am going to assume it is the same as mine. Man I typed up a whole paragraph and I was thinking, I couldn't understand that if someone said that to me. Do you understand how the rope sled attaches to the string? I'll try again. The reason you are thinking you are too short is because the rope is too long. Attach the rope sled to the rail and the string and run the rope around the stock the way it is hopefully described in your instructions. Now pull all the slack out of the rope so that one of the handles is right against the ropesled. Shorten the rope so that the other handle is right against the rope sled as well. I made mine so I just have to pull the bow string back a tiny bit with my fingers to attach the sled. That way there is tension on it holding it in place. Now there should be no slack at all in your rope and it should stay if you let go. Put your foot through the loop and bend over pulling back both rope handles evenly. You should hear the bow cock when you are back far enough. Then remove the rope and load a bolt. Hopefully this is helpful. I could show you in 5 seconds but it is hard to write out in an easy to explain way.
  3. I don't think so, I use a full a full capture rest....This is the rest I use... https://www.amazon.com/Trophy-Ridge-Micro-Revolution-Full-Capture/dp/B004MPC08E/ref=sr_1_26?dchild=1&hvadid=77996661116411&hvbmt=be&hvdev=c&hvqmt=e&keywords=trophy+ridge+rest&qid=1572273585&sr=8-26 The other thing I was wondering is if I somehow nocked the arrow below the loop. I can't imagine I would do this either but I am trying to think of things that would make the arrow fly so high....
  4. Yea, am not too upset anymore. I am very glad I didn't make a bad shot and hit him. It just all came together so perfectly it was tough to swallow missing like that. Especially when I don't know what I did so I can learn from it. I know, somehow I need to figure out how to control my buck fever. I love the feeling and don't want it to go away, but it isn't the first time I blew a shot because of it....
  5. I did that when I got home, same coat and hat and was right on. I just plain old blew it somehow. I still have a hard time keeping my composure when I see a deer I am planning on shooting. Watching him for 20 minutes sure didn't help that but man, it all should have come together perfectly. Couldn't have asked for a better scenario and I just plain blew it....Better than wounding him is what I keep telling myself.
  6. I was wondering if I was possible looking over the peep. That would explain shooting so high. I honestly don't know. I'd like to think I wouldn't do that but who knows. I know I had "buck fever".
  7. 4K. Have been seeing rubs and scrapes for a couple weeks now. Saw two small bucks sparring last weekend. Saturday I saw 9 doe. Even watched one nurse which I have never seen before. I would have thought the fawns would be weened by now. I saw two small bucks that paid the doe no mind. I also saw a beautiful 8 pt that I missed shooting over his back. I have not witnessed any seeking or chasing yet.
  8. Bushy tail like that it has to be a gray fox I would guess...
  9. Live from my Desk. Wish I could have gotten out yesterday but it with heavy rain in the forcast I didn't go. Had a great sit Saturday. Saw 12 deer total. 9 doe, two small bucks and a beautiful 8 pointer. I was sitting on the oak ridge again and saw the deer come out of the thick stuff on the other side of the creek about 80 yds away. Glassed him and instantly saw he was a shooter. I grabbed my bow, stood up, flipped up the seat and waited. It took him about 20 minutes to feed his way up the ridge eating acorns and into bow range. I was shaking like crazy the whole time. I was patient and did everything right, even ranging him several times. I ranged him the last time at 26 yds and I just need him to take a couple steps to get out from behind some saplings. Those couple steps took forever but he finally made them and was standing broad side at 26 yds. I leave my single pin at 25 yds so didn't even have to move it. Got drawn, still shaking in the legs, settled the pin and let the arrow fly. It went about two feet over his back and he took off running. I have no idea what the heck I did but I was sick. My shot wasn't even close. I sat back down for a few minutes and went and found my perfectly clean arrow. I thought I took my time and did everything correctly. Shot my bow when I got home Saturday night and I was right on at 25yds. I screwed something up to miss that bad. Doubt I will be back out before Saturday and I will be toting the crossbow then. Hope I get another crack at him. Still was a great day in the woods and I still got my antlered tag for the best time of the season so all isn't lost...
  10. Well my one horned spike buddy is back and another doe so I guess the deer blowing wasn't too bad. Now if I can just see something with a decent rack on their head
  11. I had 5 doe eating acorns in front of me for the last hour and a half. They all just took off and ran about 50 yds and started blowing like crazy. No idea why. Wind is still in my face. Great way to screw up magic hour
  12. The 1 antler spike that spent the weekend with me last weekend is back. I think I got him patterned
  13. I have never seen Piseco lake unfrozen. I snowmobile across it probably about 10 times a winter. There is always people ice fishing. Not that this helps your post at all....
  14. My wife does that once in awhile at DD. I was thinking that was pretty nice. So I did it one morning, never asked what the person behind me ordered, just said I got the car behind me too. Hand her my credit card and as I am driving away I look at the receipt and the bill was almost 30 bucks. Breakfast sandwiches, a dozen donuts etc. I was thinking no good deed goes unpunished. A few weeks later I had somebody in front of me pay for my coffee and I was thinking, damn, should have ordered more...lol So I paid for the car behind me, this time I will admit I looked in the rearview mirror to see only one person before I offered though....
  15. Man Wooly, sorry you are going through all that....Thoughts and Prayers sent....
  16. I guess I look at things differently. You paid $5200 and yes it is brand new but that is more than double the price of that used quad that only has 1300 miles on it. It all depends what it looks like in person as well but if a 15 year old 4 wheeler spend most of its time in the garage who cares that it is 15 years old. I have a 07 Brute Force 750 that I bought cheap. Its plastic was banged up and I have made it ten times worse since I bought it. My buddy just bought a new Polaris 850 for 10K. It is beautiful and I rode it and it is pretty awesome. The power steering is really nice and something I will look for if I ever get a new quad. But is it worth 4 times what mine is worth? Not to me....Not to mention I am not afraid to use mine like a bulldozer and he was leaving his and walking when we were changing stands.
  17. Tough to tell without looking in person but that looks like a nice clean well maintained used quad for the money.
  18. No problem, if you go the make your own route. Let me know how it works out. I can't imagine it wouldn't work exactly the same way as the scent crusher. I think you could also purchase a cheap portable closet and an ozone generator off amazon and get virtually the same thing as the scent crusher closet if you wanted to go that route....
  19. I would seriously consider making one for less than half the cost of the scent crusher....See my response to Bionic.
  20. You can take the scent crusher off your tote/bag and use that in the truck as well...
  21. Hey Bionic, I get Cabelas gift cards for every occasion so I have made some purchases that I probably wouldn't spend my own money on. I have a scent crusher tote (it is much larger than the bag) and I also have a ozonics. I believe they both help but are not fool proof. The scent crusher tote absolutely removes odor from my hunting gear. I put everything in it, including my boots. I have noticed that the elastic on my Bino harness is not very stretchy anymore after 3 season of use. I also don't wash my hunting gear nearly as often. I take them off in the garage, put them in the tote and turn it on. Then I run it again the night before I am going hunting. I don't know if you are interested in the ozonics but I believe this helps as well. I have not had a deer blow at me since using it. I have had them seem as though they didn't feel like something was quite right and leave the area but never blow out of there. I don't think it does much on very windy days but I think those morning and evenings with a light steady breeze it helps. I believe the ozone generator on my scent crusher tote is very similar, if not the same exact one just marked as scent crusher on my tote as the one in the link I provided to amazon. You may want to consider purchasing that ozone generator from amazon and getting your own tote making the same exact thing for less than half the cost. I wish I went that route and spent my gift cards on something else but I wasn't aware at the time that you could purchase ozone generators by themselves. I don't see why it wouldn't work exactly the same. If my scent crusher generator ever dies I will be purchasing this one to replace it. There are also tons of other options on amazon if you wish to look. Just type in ozone generator. https://www.amazon.com/WSTA-Portable-Generator-Purifier-Multipurpose/dp/B076PB2HD4/ref=sr_1_22?keywords=ozone+generator&qid=1571757718&sr=8-22 I have also used it for other thing such as my daughter absolutely disgusting smelling soccer cleats and shin guards. Takes the smell right out...
  22. I have a Cabela's heated vest. I wear it over my base layer no matter the weather. To me, even when it is 50 degrees out, when you are sitting still for hours you can get a chill. I have 3 batteries for it. You need extra batteries for sure. It also allows me to dress less bulky....
  23. Remove the head, throw in the trash....Or remove lighted nock and throw arrow/bolt and head in trash....
