Man I could go on all day about trapping lol....another thing is don't think you have to have a basket my father has always carried his traps in a 5 gal bucket as I have seen many others as well...
-
P.s. there's also a show at the Herkimer fairgrounds coming up not sure of exact date I'll see if I can locate that....and also one at little valley fairgrounds

Traps are real pricey there's a show in Avon in Sept that has some trapping vendors there can get all supply there...I'd prefer 1 3/4 traps for everything so I'd get them first...lil big for coon and fox but ok for coyote... as far as hammer goes get a sod buster I have a welder so I bought a 3# sledge and welded some 1/4 flat with a bevel on it that's all I use....personally I don't like cable stakes hard to get back out of ground but are way lighter....lures keishels (spell) ? Makes some great lures as do many others his I like crossbreed and the coy dog glands....I've been trapping my entire life and learned from my dad a life long trapper...and am in process of teaching my 4 yr old how to do it lol....feel free to pm me anytime I'm sure there's others on here who will chime in as well.....

I have hunted coon with a million candelwatt or better light that I use a sharpie or similar (layout dye works great) to color the lens red. ..then I go out about 4 or 5 hrs after dark 11/12 pm I've had best luck and just slowly walk thru the woods shining trees and ground for eyes a 22 mag or shotgun works just fine. ...always wanted to run dogs just don't know any one who does...might work for ya....

I saw my first bear during the deer season before last...sow and 3 cubs 50 yards from me was quite a rush....now my neighbors and friends consistently have them on cams....also in bc catt co.

The problem with some of the region 8 N an J specifically bc I hunt there often is the land. ...private land is most of the region and the state land that is there all though great hunting the deer are not dumb. You can see them in the middle of day in open fields during hunting season on private land that is either pressured very very little or is not hunted. So hunters who get dmps for that area are hard pressed to tag out.

Yea there's some real nice deer there...good luck

Good luck I hunt the ADKs every year for last 4 or 5 yr early season it's hard hunting but as a outdoorsman it's so peaceful and the closet thing around to a true bush hunt...all I can say as I have not had any luck there yet is don't be afraid to cove so ground looking for food sources or deer sign and don't get discouraged....hope to hear some success stories this fall....good luck
-
Cool...just added 13 and 16 to my pack.....nice
-
Depends on where I'm hunting...when I go to the ADKs and hunt I'm out all day and don't always know exactly where I am or gonna be so my pack then would have....lighter smokes snacks water knife compass (or 2) at least 50' rope extra socks gloves and hat a few plastic bags (grocery bag style) flashlight and extra bats and extra ammo...and I always have my paracord sling on when I'm up there...think that's it and can normally keep in 20#.

I've never hear of this....where abouts is it and how long ride there is it...as a family of bikers I can always appreciate a good twisty roadway. ..

young buck with a skin problem??????
stoneam2006 replied to ididnotvoteforobama's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
Kinda on the same topic my cousin shot a nice buck we had caught on cams early in year. It had been stuck during bow season and was in inedible shape. Called the Dec and only way they would give him a new tag is to take the whole deer...wouldn't even let him keep the head....he put the time in to target this buck and then to be told he couldn't keep the deer was not right IMO. -

My dad's savage 270 is one of most accurate firearms I've ever shot...
