  1. Congratulations to both of you on a memorable and successful hunt.
  2. Letchworth State Park requires 400 square inches of fluorescent orange. (equivalent to a vest front and back). I wouldn't gun hunt without wearing an orange hat and vest. I have never seen an orange deer.
  3. I use a live trap so it is pretty easy to just drive over to a nature preserve and let it out .Actually it is easier than having to shoot one and get rid of it.However shooting them does help control the population.
  4. A long time ago I climbed a tree with too smooth of bark with a climber, climbing down I extended the base too far down and it didn't grab on the tree.Fortunately I had a strap around the tree and under my arms, it caught and allowed me to pick up the base again and start over. If I hadn't worn one who knows what the outcome would have been. These fall restraints are inconvenient but so is being dead or incapacitated.
  5. Congratulations.I shot a doe off the ground once,I might try ground hunting again.
  6. I didn't have the money to have the head mounted of the best buck I ever have killed, I regret it. If you can afford it you probably won't regret it.Congratulations too.
  7. Congratulations. I would be very happy to get one like that.
  8. WNY BOWHUNTER you didn't smile again, don't you want the anti-hunters to like you ? I shot what I thought was a doe once but it was a buck with one aprox. 1 in. wide by 2 in. long flat, weird looking antler .Congratulations.
  9. In my experiences I see more deer when it is cold, and I prefer being out in cold weather too.Of course on a sunny winter weather day I see deer on hillsides in the sun but that is another story.
  10. I was told by a relative recently that the non-stop " barking" or "chirping" noise was a female mating call. My relative found that info on the internet so I really am not sure when or how long the chipmunk mating season is. It could be territorial. Happily I caught the one living in my siding today and took it miles away to a nature area.
  11. And through his finger too ! I'M GOING TO BE SICK.
  12. It is a mating call I was told, I have one I am trying to catch that decided my siding on my house was a nice place to live. Frackin rackin varmint !
  13. What the hell could he have possibly been looking down the barrel for ? Mission control ? WOW !
  14. Cool thread. It never hurts to review anything, especially if you are like me and have C.R.S.
  15. I can turn much easier in a hang-on or climber than I can from a ladder stand.I have never been in a double ladder stand though.
  16. clumped deer droppings mean softer food like alfalfa, clover, grasses, apples - however it doesn't indicate what sex deer it came from. ( I googled it) .
