Good Stuff, Phade. Pay it forward. -
The capybara on the Olympics golf course, Biz.

I think it was Tim Allen who made the comment about Rio: "A 90' tall statue of Jesus looking down at 5 million thongs..." -
Ready to root around in that sand trap maybe? The story: http://www.breitbart.com/sports/2016/08/13/new-golf-hazard-rios-olympic-golf-course-taken-worlds-largest-rodents/ Good for a laugh!

U.S. skeet shooter makes Olympics history...
philoshop replied to philoshop's topic in General Chit Chat
I have a good friend who's literally a world-class skeet shooter. He's been in competition in many different countries over the last thirty+ years. The mental toughness, the stamina, and the sheer dedication required to compete at the Olympic level for a single year is something that even he acknowledges most people simply don't have, and he readily puts himself in that camp. Ms Rhode has done it for six consecutive events. I certainly wouldn't want to be a grouse popping up in front of her. -

A little more of Kim Rhode: -
...only to be largely ignored by the media because she happens to be very pro second amendment. This is a great story about a tough and determined gal who's won medals in six consecutive Olympics (something never before accomplished) despite enormous personal hardships. Thank you, Ms Rhode! http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2016/08/historymaking_american_olympic_hero_the_media_yawn_at.html

It just passed through the Geneva area a while ago so I disconnected the internet cable and read a book for an hour. It was more bark than bite, but I lost a laptop modem to a nearby lightening strike a few years ago so I don't take chances any more.

The women's beach volleyball is kinda' entertaining.

He's a cutie, Paula!! Thanks for sharing.

Basic disagreement is one thing, but when it escalates to a level of aggression that could lead to a physical confrontation people have a right and a duty to defend themselves.

Please post facts about one of these attacks. I haven't seen a single one that wasn't a response to a provocation.

From the big three networks to Fox News it's mainly agenda polling. There is nothing reality-based in any of these 'polls', and It's likely impossible to do accurate polling of voter sentiment today, other than the November ballot. Choose wisely.

Do gun laws make us safe?
philoshop replied to NFA-ADK's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
The pistol grip makes it easier on my arthritic hands, and the collapsible stock means I can shoot the same gun whether I'm wearing five layers of cold-weather gear in a tree-stand in December or a t-shirt lying in a bean field in August. The semi-auto function means I don't have to move much to take a shot at the second woodchuck that pops up. The entire argument is political BS, and I'm not swallowing it. -
A well-placed shot is what makes them dead.

Do gun laws make us safe?

It's not the particular implement used. It's the will to do harm that kills. Regulating the implement will never change that. -
Perhaps Obama and Clinton did not directly create ISIS, but they absolutely created the power vacuum in the ME that allowed ISIS to grow and flourish. Whether that was intentional or not is up for debate. As far as the 2A comment controversy; Obama, Clinton and Biden have made similar remarks in the recent past. The difference is the media coverage and blatant bias, rather than the actual statement.

I've probably picked up a few things from videos over the years. Sometimes it's pretty subtle, so it's hard to tell. I know I've learned a lot more by actually being in the woods.

Whatever ammo your gun likes best is the 'proper' choice. A 30 caliber hole through the heart/lung area, even if it doesn't expand, is a lot more effective than a miss.

Best of luck to you Grizz!

Trump is someone I'd invite into my home to have dinner with. Mrs. Clinton is someone I would demand payment in advance from before I started my tractor to pull her car out of my ditch during a snowstorm.

The Colorado info may have been a couple of pages in, ants. Look for dates, because what you're looking for is often buried.;-] I've made notifications and inquiries.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that hunting licenses in parts of Europe were around $600 a year, and then you had to pay landowners for access to their property, and a fee just to own a firearm on top of that. Complaining about a $15 or $20 dollar fee, no matter where the money goes, seems kind of silly. Vote wisely.

I found this in a 10 second google search: https://www.colorado.gov/pacific/cbi/news/nics-system-down-cbi-instacheck-impacted It may just be a hiccup in the system. I'll ask around. If it continues I'll absolutely be on it, and I'd appreciate any additional info from you folks. Three days seems like a long time for a computer glitch, then again Obamacare has had an inoperable system for a few years now.

An article about the 'news' coverage of the crowbar incident: https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2016/08/10/62-year-old-trump-supporter-beaten-with-crowbar-for-wearing-trump-t-shirt-media-makes-headline-about-t-shirt/ Apparently it's the t-shirt's fault. Anybody else see the utter idiocy and bias in this?
-
When a 62 year old guy in NJ is attacked with a crowbar by a rabid Democrat for simply wearing a Trump t-shirt, it makes me think twice about wearing my Trump t-shirts in public. I'm not a coward, but I am definitely getting older, and smarter, and I have no desire to be hospitalized because a socialist idiot twenty-something doesn't like my shirt, sticker, or yard sign. The anonymity of the voting booth come November will be the decider, and I predict It won't even be close.
