  1. I haven't met anyone in the last couple of days who is actually offended by her statement. It's become a running joke, in fact. "I'm proud to be 'deplorable', how 'bout you?" was heard several times at the local American Legion last night. ;-] Her statement was made in front of room full of wealthy supporters/donors to reinforce their commitment to feeling superior, in every way, over anyone who doesn't follow the Democrat way of thinking. She didn't win over any 'hearts and minds' that she didn't already have, and it seems she's pushed a lot of independent and undecided voters toward the Trump side. Nobody likes being talked down to, and that's exactly the way Clinton talks to everyone beyond her donor circle. It's a pathetic indication of how she'll lead this country should it come to that.
  2. Her comment was made two days ago. She made a sort of non-apology statement yesterday to the 70+million Americans she was hoping to offend or shame with her speech. Anyone on this planet who thinks she was successful in either her comment, or her non-apology, is living in an alternate universe. Try to keep up. It was straight out of the Saul Alynsky playbook.
  3. Hey Papist,

I don't know if you follow Sharyl Attkisson at all but this is an excellent timeline of the Clinton e-mail scandal:

  4. I was at my work bench hand-cutting dovetails for some drawer boxes when the story broke over the radio. My partner showed up shortly with a TV, and all day long we had customers coming in and hanging around just to be among friends. When the second tower collapsed I went outside to throw up.
  5. Dead snake. Be nice to them, because they eat bugs and make the girls jump outta their bikinis into your arms.
  6. Why would anyone spend investor/shareholder money to target an audience they already have? Seems foolish to me.
  7. I didn't know that alloutdoors. I have seen spiders hatch/emerge like that though.
  8. I tend to keep it pretty quiet and respectful, overall. An older friend of mine got his first deer just a few years ago, and of course I offered to guide him through the process of gutting it and asked to see his knife. When he bent over the deer I took out my knife and cut a hunk of his shirt-tail off. It's a tradition.
  9. Very nicely done, Alloutdoors!!! I know first-hand how challenging those shots are to capture. I'm glad the new camera body is working out.
  10. I've seen things like that Paula. Pretty cool. The little ones don't bother me too much, even though I don't like spiders in general. When they get to the size where they can take a chunk of skin when they bite is when it gets creepy.
  11. I'll have to unpack this post before I respond, because it's not very clear to me, and I've had a couple of beers. ;-
  12. We have an 'unalienable right' to protect ourselves, and to speak our minds. When someone messes with that it will get nasty.
  13. I'll agree to a certain extent. That sort of popular opposition, however, has little will, and little means of self-defense. A 'civil war' would be swift and brutal.
  14. Years ago I'd get together with four friends to do the annual 'Tenderloin Trip'. It was an ice-fishing gig on Sodus Bay where everyone brought grills, venison, corn-on-the-cob, chili, clam chowder, and even Dinty Moore beef stew. Standing all day on frozen water can be a lot of fun if you do it right.
  15. Removing the mower deck, chaining the tires on the tractor, mounting the back-blade, and pushing some snow around once in a while is absolutely a hassle. I'd much rather be in Florida; where I live in A/C air 24/7, have to fill sandbags now and then, put plywood over my windows whenever there's a storm, unhook the boat from the trailer in my garage so that it floats when I need to escape...
  16. I'll send the word out to a couple of friends who are bird-dog guys in the Albany area. She looks like she's smart and pays attention. I'm sorry you have to give her up, my friend, but she clearly needs to hunt on a regular basis.
  17. Welcome Nadine! I hope you find the site enjoyable.
  18. How many people here have actually shot at 1000 yds? Everything comes into play at that range. Pooh-pooh and laugh at the reality of it, but the Earth's rotation, time of year and even the time of day come into play at that range. Not to mention simple things like temperature, humidity, and general wind direction. The shooters who can hit consistently at 1000 yds are indeed a special breed of cat.
  19. I took the opening day memorial walk this morning, carrying the gun instead of the camera. (I should have taken the camera). There were several that were pretty easy targets, but I just watched them and passed on the shots. It was nice to be in the woods again, although my arthritic hip is going to disagree with me on that for the rest of the night.
  20. I really don't see another 'civil war' in our future. Another 'revolutionary war' is much more likely. The former involves taking up arms against fellow citizens with whom you may disagree, while the latter involves taking up arms against a government with which you absolutely disagree. That those fellow citizens helped to put that particular government in place is not, in general, where my anger lies. We're a free and open society. The elected officials swear upon entering office to uphold the U.S. Constitution, and when they blatantly don't do that is when the fight starts.
  21. Personal insults are not a substitute for substantive arguments. Bring facts to the table or stay away.
  22. I wish I could 'like' this a few more times Papist. Paul Watson is one of the best and most insightful commentators in the media today.
